Subject: coho and brown trout near shore

Most charter boats are coming in with limit catches of coho salmon and the occasional LARGE brown trout(10 to 15lb range). Fishing is from the Michigan City, Indiana Lighthouse North about 2 miles, and East and West of the harbor about a mile each way. Best baits are the red "Z" dodger and blue fly. Best depths for baits are between 15 to 47 feet. Dreamweaver spoons in (starburst & purple kavorkian) are best run down the middle rigger at the deepest depth. If there are Kings around, they'll eat these spoons up.

Subject: Summer Fishing

In Indiana )(Lake and Porter County) currently the only nearshore option is brown trout which are still around bait schools near shore. Offshore--7 to 14 miles--coho are plentiful. Best bait is a dodger/fly combo downrigged 30 feet plus or minus a little. Try orange dodgers high, silvers down deeper. No reports of Skamania nearshore yet, but give them 2 weeks and hang on.
