My wife and I will be traveling from northern Indiana to Ft. Peck lake the week of the 18/19 of June, with boat in tow hoping to fish and see the countryside. We didn't make any reservations, couldn't find anything on the internet that hit me as the place we should be staying in the area. We
got acquainted with a walleye professional out of Billings in early April while fishing Bull Shoals lake, he was involved in the FLW Wall Mart walleye tournament. He suggested before we headed out to drop a line at this web site to look for offerings/suggestions on what or where we should go and stay and fish. We have a cabin tent with us so we are able to make do without great accomodations, but it would be nice if someone out there could give us a few tips on what part of the lake to locate, good food tips, accomodations and a good place to tip a brewski. The lake trout are biting real well at Fort peck right now and should be for another six weeks. Fish in 20-40 feet and use deep diving crank on main lake points. Check my web site for more info. at ifishfortpeck.com |

Hi there Trapper John! My dad, 4 of his buddies and I are coming from Minnesota to Fort Peck to tip-up fish on Thursday Feb. 20th. This will be my first time along on this annual trip there and I'm hoping I could get some advice so I have a good time. They only like to tip-up fish for Northerns but I'd really like to try for Lakers, Walleyes and Perch also. The area they like to fish is on the north side, west of the dam. Could you recomend any good areas that I could set up some tip-ups for Northern's and also jig from a portable for Lakers, Walleyes and Perch? I have a GPS so if you have coordinates I could use them too. Thanks for any help you can offer. Hope you have a good ice bite this year! |

Subject: Fort Peck Report
There is about 8 inches of ice in the Crooked creek area and there are some walleyes being caught on jigs and minnows and also there is ice in the big dry arm from Mcquire creek up. There is around 8 inches at Nelson creek. |

Subject: Fort Peck Report for Oct. 25
Oct. 25--The lake trout fishing is real good right now and should continue for the next few weeks. They are in 15-30 feet and are hitting crankbaits. The walleyes are a little slow right now and they should pick up in the next couple weeks. Northerns are biting along with walleyes in 15-25 feet and crankbaits and jigs with minnows are producing some nice fish. |

Subject: Fort Peck Lake
The walleye fishing in the Hell cr. area has picked up some. We are catching walleyes in 15-20 feet on crankbaits. Quite a few fish are in the 7-9lb. range. They are mostly on main lake points along with the northerns. Northerns are in slightly shallower water and are hitting cranks and spinners.They are averaging around 10lbs. The northerns usually pick up in Sept. and Oct.The lake tout fishing in shallow water usually starts to pick up around mid Oct. as water temps. drop to the mid 50's. Water temps. right now are around 64 degrees. |
