Has anyone used the Furuno FCV585 FishFinder or the Furuno GP7000F/NT. I'm looking to purchase a nice fish finder for my boat and need some input on what I should buy. I mostly fish out of Morro Bay. My spending limit is about $2000 for fish finder and gps. Also if anyone has any info on were I can get a enclosed helm and soft top for my 1986 250 sportsman wellcraft it would help too. |

1623 6"LCD RADAR 16M 2.2KW If you are venturing into waters, check out the latest offering from Furono. The 1623 6” LCD Radar is high on features. This waterproof unit comes with a 6 inch silver bright monochrome LCD display, making it easy to read even under bright sunlight. The entire unit is designed ergonomically with a predictable menu. No more searching for the buttons at the wrong time! The display resolution is the reason behind the great readability. It’s an amazing 240 H x 320 V Dots. The tri-speed radome antenna increases RPM at short ranges. This in turn allows for better target accuracy. The user selectable range scales from 1/8 to 16NM.Check out the receiver, it is powerful and comes with a great feature, automatic receiver tuning. You also get an option of automatic or manual seal clutter adjustment. Similarly one also gets to see an automatic or manual receiver gain adjustment along with sector blanking. There is even a rain clutter control. One thing though, I could not figure out how to use this particular feature. Can someone help me out? The safety aspects too have been taken care off. There is for instance a watchman mode to control the radar system for vessel safety. One can also select time intervals for target or echo trails. The Waypoint Lollipop which pops up on the screen is designed to aid you in vessel navigation. With so many features you always wonder, whether the entire thing is easy to use. You need not worry on that front. There is a program key which helps you navigate effortlessly by providing menu shortcuts. And just in case the wind plays havoc you always have the wind indication also on the display. The power requirement is another great thing about this radar. It requires an unbelievable 12 or 24 VDC only. That is only 36 watts! And there is always the back up in the form of the standby/watchman mode of approximately 8 watts, should something go wrong. |

FF 320 C Fish Finder Yet another great product from Garmin, the Fish Finder 320C is a stand-alone fish finder. With the 320C you need not worry about finding a prized catch, whether it is fresh water or salt water, ‘cause it works, whatever the kind of water. The 320C comes with a host of features, a hallmark of all Garmin products. What is more if you also have a Garmin GPS with you, you can also send a specific location from your 320C to the GPS. Pray, can someone tell me if this is not communication, then what is it? Extreme anglers are cautioned, since you will fall for it, if you were to see one. Such is the array of features on a 320C. The unit comes with sunlight –readable color display, intuitive software and importantly, it won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Go for it. Make it your prized catch! |

The sonar/sounder comes with a choice of dual frequency or single frequency. The depth range of 3000 feet at 50 KHz is handy. There is a built-in sensor which enables readings of temperature.
