Deano, I share your concern on the wind. I've been watching the trend on the Cape San Martin bouy today and the average looks to be about 8kts with peak gusts to 11 at worst. I talked with the Patriot Sportfishing just now and the report from their crew was it was a bit choppier outside than it had been but the swell was still down and fishable. They had 70 fish onboard by 1400hrs! We're running a 23.5' Boston Whaler Conquest hardtop and our plan is to be at the ramp by 4 a.m., run a 230 heading and look for 62 degree water temp. I'll be on 68, call sign "Whaler Conquest" so give us a shout if we don't connect in the lot. We'd love to run along with another if possible. Anyone else headed out is welcome to call on my cell at 801-6700. |

I’m headed out of Morro Friday AM. My main concern is the wind, if any body out today would let me know how the water was out side it would help me make my decision. I’ll be on my 22’ Whaler Outrage Thanks. Deano |

Had a great trip out of Morro Bay yesterday with two friends. Got in the water around 0500, got some dines from Matt (no chovies available) and headed out on a 245 heading for about 40 miles. Water temp was at 62.2 and we saw some birds working so in go the jigs. Picked up our first fish around 0830 followed by a bait fish. Things really picked up around 0930 - had a quad on the jigs, followed by several bait fish. Were ready to move on and they started to break water just behind the boat. Things shut down around 1030 - my fish holds were full and we had all we needed (most in the 15-20# range and a couple larger), so we headed for the barn. Bloody decks are a good thing. http://momentoffame.com/photopost/data/501/medium/414.jpg http://momentoffame.com/photopost/data/501/220.jpg Fish tied in the corner are bleeding out http://momentoffame.com/photopost/data/501/314.jpg It was a great day - ocean pretty calm and minimal wind. Nice to see the tuna back - now we just have to wait for the big guys! |

Will someone please give me the GPS numbers for the Donut? I can't seem to find them anywhere. Also, I still have some spots available for my San Quintin trip by bus for Oct 20-24. We stay at the Old Mill and fish 3 days from Pangas. If interested, call me at 800/894-7239. Meanwhile, lets get those LFT's! Tight lines, Steve |

SloTroller had the most epic day we've ever had yesterday. We were in the water by 5 but lost all electronics 3 miles out. It took about 1.5 hours to finally find the problem fuse. We were on the grounds by 9am and put 5 in pretty quick. We were stuck there until about 2pm. Onieda_b plugged up and gave us some numbers. We ran 9 miles to the area. Mike had said if you want 8 fish, put in 8 lines and he wasn't kidding! Got 4 lines in the water and they all went off before we could get other 2 set. It was triples, quads and a 5er for the rest of the day. We stopped with 18. Several firsts: in 6 years of fishing I finally got my first bait fish! 3 guys landed 5 troll fish on one strike and 18 is the best count ever (we wouldn't take any more than that!) Big Thanks to Onieda_b for the numbers! Big Thanks to Mark, Mistress, for staying in touch and sharing info all day long. |

Fished morro yesterday for 16 albacore. All jig fish except for one bait fish. Fish all 15 to 20 pounds. Bait rolled, prob due to me overloading the tank but you didn't really need bait with so many jig fish other than thats my favorite way to catch them. We started at 35 04 & 121 44 and worked up and in from there to 35 06 &121 40. Heard good counts from furhter north also. Saw lots of jumpers and crashing fish, would swing the spread over the spot and get multiple hook ups on what ever was out. Weather was great and my crew was hard working , thanks guys. Lets all hope for a continued season. Good fishing to all. |

I took Chris Olivera and Mike Manning with me on the Mistress out of Morro at 5 am. Met Wes (Slotroller) and headed for Billy Boy to bait up Had a prob with bait pump hose but got that fixed. Wes was good enough to wait for us, then he had some elec probs but all worked out. Headed out to the numbers that have been posted the last few days. Wather and water couldn't be much better. Ran out 43 mi. and heard other boats calling in counts and numbers. We ran out to 05/44 and got doubles, triples, quads and caught all the fish we wanted. Pulled the plug about 3;30 and headed in for the 53 mi. ride to the barn. Can't ask for a better day and get fish too. Mark/Mistress |

The bite, bait, and weather were great today with all boats catching all the albacore they wanted. The highest count we heard out there today was 60 fish. We did not catch any fish over 15 lbs but we heard of fish up to 25 lbs. The bite was from 38 mi and out. Late in the day the bonito monved in for a wide open bite of 6-8 pound fish. Bob |

albacore today was very good. averaged 1 fish every ten minutes four hours fishing time. 35-05 / 121-38. lots of bait fish. ocean conditions were flat, very light winds, none at times. lots of good signs closer between 17 and 20 miles out, may be worth a look...... |

Ill second that water out there John , was like being in a washing machine for a time there , but it did flatten out for the ride back. Like john says make sure everything is up to snuff with your boats , its a long ride home, we even had problems with our boat and its only got 180 hours on it , it seems the onboard volvo computer took a dump, all guages froze in place no way to raise the outdrive , had to jump that at the ramp, all electronics kept working, got us home. And that PIG sergio caught was a brute , great job. See ya when we get the boat fixed, got to go back to the dealer in Costa Mesa, Allison marine. Good luck to you guys the rest of the week go get them. Blackie/Sr |

The fish are in 62 degree water...It is 53 miles from Morro Bay to the area the fish are...It was ok weather but not that comfortable outside 25 miles Monday....When you find them they will hit the standard feathers at 7 kts...It is a long ride be sure your boat is in tip top shape..Most of the ride was at 15 kts so you know what that means...If you find 62 degree put them in...Good luck John |

Josh: They hit anything we put in the water but slow trolling rapalas seemed to work pretty good for some the other boats. There were some good bait balls in the areas where we caught our fish so if you see bait stick around that area. |

They are sending another boat out again tonight. Supposed to be good weather for next 3-4 days. I'll be out there tomorrow. See you guys on the water. Mel |

We had a great albacore day finally ! I decided to start below where Mike caught his fish at 35:04 and 121:44 and about 4 mile radius around those numbers. We hooked 14 and landed 11. Half jig and half bait. Left at 11:30 with all we wanted but the guys were still catching at 3pm last I heard. Everybody had fish with counts as high as 17 aand one of them was 48 lbs. Ours were all 15 to 20+ lbs. Trolling as slow as 4mph and especially with rapalas seemed to be the secret for the guys catching after we left. The weather was good for the first 25 miles but pretty sloppy the rest of the way. |

What a day on the water!Got bait a 4 and off we went to the elbow, flat come seas and the most beautiful sunrise ever. Dropped the lines in at the elbow at 6:30 and every stop a bouble at least,we had 8 in the box by 8:30.Called out numbers but no one picked up until about 11:00.They end up with about 13 fish between the two other boats that showed up. We ended with 15 fish, 15lb average. What a day, only wish I could be part of the group today. If we had enough bait to chum the school up I think it would have been a huge day. Lot's of meeter marks and hungry fish. We only baited one fish , only due to the fact we really did not try bait. When you are getting double and tripple hook ups on jigs, why bother.Good luck to the fleet that is going to be there today, lots of buzz in the parking lot of Morro.
