Fished PSL today on a friends Davis. Late start due to tide and compounded by a transmission linkage issue but we easily solved the problem and dipped her back in the water and headed up to Pecho for rockfish. Fished the magic swimbait the whole time for 8 enormous Reds all over 8 lbs. The rest of the crew were soaking frozen chovis, squid, or Iron for the usual mixed bag of Reds, decent sized Blues, and a Gopher until the swimbaits went on then the Lings came on but were all j u s t short. We were out till well past one o'clock but our drift was fast and it was hard to fish the 150'+ water so we called it a day. Great to be back in the stink. Looking forward to a run over the weekend or next week if conditions allow. |

We left MB on monday around 3:00 for San Simeon. The ride up was very nice, couldn't make any bait so we had some cold ones and got some sleep. Left the bay by 6:00 am and went above the lt. house to find a nasty sea.Great bite on large reds and small lings. After the third wave over the transom we headed to cambria. It's hard to beleve how rough it can be at the lt. house and like a lake at cambria. the fish were smaller but we got our limits and headed for home at 11:45. Total: 18 reds to 7 lbs. and two coppers |

fished salmon this morning until 11. no bait outside of 245' so i moved in to look around inside. found lots of birds and bait on the 100' line but no takers...something was pushing the bait but i don't think it was any type of rockfish. it was moving around too fast. i was in front of south cayucos. |

Paco Paco--SNAPPED 30 lb leader? Send that boy back to school!!! Al the #'s Fred gave you are good, and there will be a zillion boats where the fish are being caught--nothing like round here--especially near soquel hole. There will be even more congestion since commerc season opens and they gotta be droolin' over the average size. The radio chatter will drive you nuts--it got pretty stupid Saturday, so bad I shut down the radio. Gimme a call to discuss anytime-I'm in the book Cloud, Ramon (Ray-Mon) SM. Playin' Hooky thanks, sure hoping the bite picks up here--and that we can launch. Its a long drive up there....Cloud out |

I'm thinking about fishing Sat. from Port S.L. Sat. We left the boat on mooring. I was hoping to get an early start on Sat. and don't really want to wait for the water taxi to start running. So I was wondering if there's going to be any other earlybirds that might want to pick up a Hitchhiker in the Harbor? Don't have a skiff yet. I'd like to figure out some arrangement to take turns taxiing to the moorings with somebody when we're fishing out of Avila to get an earlier start.. -Donny T. |

DO WE KNOW THESE GIRLS? Three blondes were sitting on the bank of a river. They each had a fishing pole and were concentrating on their lines. A game warden drove by and saw the women fishing and decided to check for proper fishing licences. He approached the the women and asked to see their fishing licences. Surprisingly, they all replied they did not have one. Before the warden could speak , one of the women spoke up and said , MR WARDEN sir we are not fishing for your normal catch. We are ENVIROMENTALISTS,,, we are ridding the waters of garbage and other debris. We are not fishing for " FISH " we have poles , yes , but on the end of our lines we have magnets. The magnets are gathering up all the metallic debris from the bottomof this river ,, therfore we are cleaning up the bottom of this envionrment. The game warden thought for a momenet . Unsure of the womens honesty , he asked the women to retrive there lines and show him the magnets they were using for bait, Sure enough one by one they pulled them in and they did indeed have magnets on there lines, they were of various size and colors. Puzzled the warden again thought for a moment and then stated , WELL you ladies seem to be doing a good thing , there is no law against cleaning the river bed with a magnet , More people should be a s dedicated to cleaning the enviorment, Have a nice day. The warden jumped back into his truck and drove off, as soon as the warden was out of site, the women burst out in hysterical laughfter. Finally , when one of them was able to speak, she said ,,STUPID FISH COP doesnt he know there are stealhead IN THIS RIVER . MY two cents worth Blackie / Sr |

Fished Morro Bay on Sunday for 6 hours for a total of one hit but nothing in the box. Fished from 140 out to 240 feet deep and only saw one very small scratch of bait. Water color good out deeper around 51 degress. Lots of kelp inside. Traveled from radar to shell mound. The only hit was in 200 feet of water around the shell mound at 120 feet on the wire with a purple haze. Saw about 5 other boats but no one talked about getting any. Only half mile visibility until around 11:00. M ost radio traffic was by the lighthouse out of PSL. |

This weeks weather for the rockfish opener: The computer models indicate good weather in the mornings and wind in the afternoon. If you go to Pt. Sal you might not want to stay past noon. Hope they get a lot more dredging done by tuesday because it sure is an inconvience launching and retrieving only at high tide. |

The Patriot had the hot bite out of PSL today. They fished out and off the lighthouse and had 4 in the box and three lost when we left to get out at 10:30. Nice of them to share their numbers and lure info., we just couldn't get them to go for us. What's the word out of Morro for the weekend? Cloud, sounds like your trip was worth it for you. Good job. Happy fishing to all this week. |

Back from fishing Moss Thurs-Fri-Sat 5 Salmon total, smallest 9 pounds, lgst 30.5, lost one at the boat a solid 25 lb'er (lightly hooked headshaker) One on East side of Canyon outa Moss on Thurs, rest around Soquel Hole Fri & Sat 240-280' water depth 40-150' OTW. Bite scratchy most of the time but Fri afternoon at low tide change it went WFO, the fish came up to about 40' after most bites being 100'+ in the AM. It didnt matter what was in the water it was being eaten. Only lasted 20 minutes tho, "BTS". Dont know if it happened again sat had to leave at 11 AM. Kajiki's Purple Haze/HS Flasher, Chrome Tom Mack and Watermelon Apex got um 4 us. Man that Moss facility is NICE. Anyone know how financed, why cant we get that kind of treatment? Jealous I guess!!! And.... Can anyone recommend a good marine hydraulic steering system mechanic on the central coast--have problem with steering, don't think its air been power bled. Starts out OK but deteriorates through the day. Feels like its "binding" but is not consistent. It's a Seastar tilt helm on a Yammie 225. TIA, Cloud out |

We launched first boat this morning out of PSL and plowed thru the sand, the day was beautiful weather wise and did manage to get lucky with two small keeper salmon. We were 3 mi. south of the red light and fished depts between 180 and 240. Both fish were deep at 135 ft. down on the wire and 120 ft. down on the wire. They came on a white scalelite lure behind a dodger. Will be trying again tommorrow. Bye for now. |

Just fishing here, now that many of the rockfish areas are closed how far do you see yourself traveling out of Morro to get fish? How many more miles is that from Point Buchon? You can post or send me a response via e-mail. Thanks Carl |

The Patriot has picked up several salmon in the last couple of days out here (Avila) and is looking again today. The weather is crappy today but forecast to get better tomorrow and this weekend looks great. Sal (Patriot) said the conditions look good for salmon with bait and etc. The tides are good for launching but not for retrieving so a mooring may be necessary. |

Anyone have any ideas what the wind situation might be on tues.? Plan on fishing Buchon before the closure. Side note, wardens caught some limpet poachers (1400 limpets) above Gorda, reminded me of once I saw some black ab poachers get caught at shell beach, three guys were completely cleaning the rocks, warden made them put every single one of those abs back, tide was coming back in, boy were they wet an miserable with big tickets to boot. served em right! |

We just got back from Monterey. We fished east of Soquel Hole for limits on Monday and Tuesday. Most of the fish were 20 plus pounds. They were biting on green hoochies for us, 150 feet on the wire in 250ft of water. Water conditions were great. The wind came up around 1 PM. |

Fished Point Pinos yesterday morning for zero. Saw one good size school on the screen at 300-350 ft in 750 ft of water. Made a move back to Monterey Canyon at 11:00 am. Counted 50 boats in that area including both local party boats. Saw only one fish netted in the entire fleet. West winds blew us back to Moss around 3:00 PM. |
