Ronald, It's nice of you to show concern about AD fishermen; however this applies to fishing anywhere in the world. I just did not know if there were such spots around Dubai, so I addressed AD people only. Cheers, Ijlal |

Hi Ijlal, Appreciate your efforts to inform about the danger whilst fishing in AD. Although I am not from AD, but it would really help people fishing in that area. Keep up your good work. Of course personal safety is most important at every time. So we all need to be extra careful. Regards, Ronald. |

BEWARE ABU DHABI ANGLERS A word of caution for all Abu Dhabi members: Please take extreme care not to use long rods (any type) and avoid even short carbon (graphite) rods if you go fishing underneath the 400 KV pylons and cables on Eastern Ring Road (Salaam St.) Please be advised such high voltage can jump the gap several metres (like a streak of lightning) if it finds a way to flow and your long rod may act as an extension to your body and provide the required earth. The consequences, as you can imagine, are almost always fatal. It gives me jitters when I see people fearlessly using 4 and 5 metre rods under these cables. Whenever I go there, I only use my 6’6 boat casting rod, my 7’ baitcaster and my 9’ fibreglass spinning rod. No fish is more important than personal safety, so do take good care of yourselves and educate others you know. Screaming reels and bent rods! Ijlal

Hello Zahed, Which parking were you in on the Corniche? Were you near the dolphins? When I left the remote spot, I went to every parking except the dolphins one. I did not find anybody in any of the parkings except the one before the dolphins parking. There an Australian/British (cannot be sure) was float fishing, but had caught nothing. I went into conversation with him and we were commenting on the hot weather when I saw a Naqroor about 2 kg just by the shore. I took out one of my rods, and cast it just by the rocks, and just when I was busy searching for the lighter in my pocket, the fish hit really hard, and as the rod was leaning by the railing the butt was lifted up, giving just enough slack to the fish to spit out the hook. Also, I had been using a relatively smaller hook, reducing the chance of an automatic hookup. After that incident, I neither had another bite, nor saw any fish. Cheers, Ijlal |

hi all, Iljal, i am sorry to hear that that place is closed. it was a great fishing place. I didnt see any signs or anything there. Did the boat fine you? i hope not. Anyway, another great fishing spot is on the channel to mussafah, near sheikh Zayed stadium. There is a small jetty and you will allways find people fishing here. Cathces include cats and breams. cheers, chris |

ijlal , Why are u saying that i wrote you were jelous of kits picture . Did i mention any name . I dont think so , then why did you take it personally . All i requested every one on this forum is to calm down and stop the dog fight which was going on . And to clarify you i wrote some people get jelous here . And you also know its a fact . Because when kit posted the picture of a big fish next day one of the forum members did write that the fish is not that big . It was not correct to say that . Or may be jelousy made that persons eyes shrink and made it look small . So it was intended to that person not to you . All i want is this forum should appreciate anglers and it should not be used to show some one small . Recently some of the words used in this forum were really not meant for the civilised world . Hope every one agrees on that . Congratulations for the huge cobia . I do agree its a monster . At the end i would say debate and controversy always gives people the chance to learn . regards |

Chris/Zahed, I went to the spot I advised you (Chris) about on Friday. Reached 5:30 am - no bites till 7:30. Was hoping for action to begin around 8:40 with the incoming tide, but at 7:30 an official boat came and told me to pack up, saying the place was prohibited! No boards, no signs, what to do? You find one good place and soon it gets taken away. Anyway, I thought I might advise you of the development. Cheers, Ijlal |

Angler14, Fishing King, Jeen, Thanks for your kind comments. Keyur, Thanks for your phone call; it was nice talking to you. All, I am really a very humble person, and never have any intention to belittle anybody. All I wanted to make you realize was we are all anglers; some of us have had more opportunities but there should be no competition to prove who is better. Nobody's perfect, but we all have the ability to learn, and we do! I am open to suggestion and am not ashamed to learn something even from Pranab, who only started to fish five months ago. Secondly, the great thing about forums is they make a great platform for debate, so I hope debates will continue, but with our egos tucked away safely in our tackle boxes. Best of luck to all of you in your coming trips. May you all catch huge monsters! Ijlal |

All, This is my 50th post, so I thought it should be special. I did not want to post it as I am not easily given to boasting, but as I am continuously being blamed, I might even change my name to “BRAGSTER!” This picture is 12-years old when digital cameras either did not exist or were a luxury available only to the wealthy. I caught this during a tournament in 1995, and went on to become the champ of that tournament. Pranab, Here’s a real monster for you! Can you tell me why I must be jealous of Kit’s recent pictures or of anybody on the forum? Fishing King, This is about as big as they grow… Kit, This was bigger than the current IGFA record for the species on 20 lb class line. I did not report the catch to IGFA as I was using 20 lb ‘test’ line, so this fish would have qualified for the 30 lb category, which class holds the All Tackle Record for the species, the only fish of the species on IGFA records bigger than mine. Also, I was financially constrained; otherwise I would at least have entered their 1 to 5 club. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z156/Ijlal2/IJ2-2-2.jpg Thanks, Ijlal

Dear friends , Just to clarify to you all . I always like if some one shows me my mistake . Its not only kit so many people have corrected me . Like keyur , chua , guruji . I dont think my present throws are even perfect . I am not ashamed of it . Because one simple reason i am willing to learn . I dont have an ego like an everest . Thats why i never critize people ability here . I am more intersted in knowing my defects so that i can rectify . But off late honestly i have hardly seen any material on the forum to learn from . Its turned out to be a WWF ring nothing else . It saddnes me that inspite of all my requestes people keeps fighiting just for nothing . And the kind of words people use here is really sad which i dont think educated people should use on a forum like this . I am not a judge to point out who is the best fisherman here . I believe what i see . I dont mind if people call me ameture . Every one goes through a learning process . There is no harm in it . I am willing to do that . I see lot of people here got upset because i said kit is a good fisherman . I want to know have i ever called here some one bad fisherman . Then why is this hue and cry . I cant comment on people on whom i have not seen in action . Earlier also i faced this problem because i spoke the truth . Once i wrote about guruji that i saw him catching a lot of fish in hot summer . Immediately next day people over here were up in arms against me . May i ask what is wrong in appreciating someone . I even appreciated tayeb when he caught a shark last weekend . The real problem of this forum is its full of jelous anglers who are in a race to prove who is the best . I am not into it . Neither would like to go into that race even i were an experienced angler which i am not . Its my personal opinion that people should do fishing for the simple sake of enjoying it . I will ask every members forgivness in advance if my latest posts hurts any ones feelings . I have just spoken out the truth here which i felt . And this is my final request to every one lets move on the season is round the corner . So just bury the controversy and look towards a new tomorrow . regards |

Kit, I do not think you had any reason to pick up a fight with me; all that I commented to you was about the official name of mangrove jack being mangrove red snapper; a fact you could easily have confirmed on the net. Are you really humble enough to go through other people’s posts? I guess not, as all the criticism you have unleashed unto me is wrongly attributed; funny, how you have taken others’ comments and thrown them back to me! Makes me question your comprehension skills… Kit, tell me honestly, have you ever known me? How then can you decide where I stand? I do not consider myself an expert and have nowhere declared so on the forum. I have not even challenged you as not being an experienced fisherman, now have I? I got my first decent rod and reel, a 9’ ABU Atlantic #3 Zoom and the legendary Mitchell 306 spinning reel when you were probably crawling on your fours! That was 28 years ago, and I have been madly in love with fishing ever since. Yes, I have caught many red snapper as big as yours if not bigger, but not from the shore. And yes, I have caught 8 kg fish, a Mahseer, on 8 lb line from the shore, and that too when I was just a boy. Do you know what a mahseer is and where it stands in the hierarchy of freshwater game fish? Catching an 8-kg fish on 4-kg line is only a line to fish weight ratio of 1:2, tell me honestly if you have ever caught a fish (bigger than 10 kg) with the line to weight ratio 1 to 6? I have! No, I have not caught a broadbill swordfish or any of the other billfish; not because I couldn’t, but for the simple reason I couldn’t afford trips to the 50 and 100 meter drops back home. Most of my fishing has been inshore trolling and I have caught loads of fish including Yellowfin Tuna, Longtail Tuna, Kawa Kawa, Narrow Barred Spanish Mackerel (Kingfish), Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Queen Fish, Grouper (hamour), Mangrove Red Snapper, and obviously barracuda, apart from lots of species caught on bottom fishing. You are right, though, I am not in your league, and I don’t want to be in the same league with people led by vanity! Unlike your amateur friends who may continually flatter you for fear they might lose you and get lost on their quest to catch a decent fish, I chart my own path! One last advice Kit, you only get respected when you respect others. Thanks, Ijlal

Hi Pranab Thanks for info, i have checked on net and yes it was a reef shark the tip of its fin and tail was black, initially due to darkness i thought it was a cat fish due to flat shape of mouth but after watching her in light i surprised that it is a shark. I will post the picture also but may it would not be very clear due to darkness and camera quality but you atleast see the mouth. Thanks Tayyab |

KIT, thanks, I was schooled be a "VERY" knowledgable friend... still have a long way to go though... color? yes its a matter of preference... I would like to post my preferred colors/patterns but some of the MORONS here might pick-up something useful and get better chance at killing some more fish... kit, you should avoid fishing with the MORONS around here, they might "rub" onto you... Hey MORONS! Quit whinning and start fishing! "Uh you know most of us are old in this forum and old fishermen and need to be respected"... DUH! that just proves your included in the MORONS column! READ MY LIPS! ANGLING AIN'T FOR BRAGGING DUMB*SS! "Your catch is just small, we had something bigger, blah! blah! blah!" GEEZZ! just when I thought things couldn't get worst! Udupa, I got one good tip for you... stop fishing and... GO HUMP YOURSELF! ALONG WITH IJLAL! |

big white. would be interesting wouldnt it? been thinking on how to respond. i have to decline. not into that kind of thing. besides, i dont have to prove anything to anyone. castor - nice choices. I know both very well. for smaller sizes, i like the km's, for medium sizes i like the Krks better. ive caught quite a few fish on both and use them for quite a full range of fish. for faster presentations, i like using the km's and for slower presentations, the krks are better coz their sink rate is lower...on slow days, the krks are always the fallback lures...i stay away from chrome a lot. believe it or not, i prefer the more sombre colors. there were too many times when the fish got spooked because there was too much flash! hard to believe, but if you have a boat load of people waiting for a hook up, you cant let them down and each strike counts. but chrome is ofcourse one of the best colors out there. at the end of the day, its all about personal preference. |

I do agree with Udupa, although I feel he should have kept the "crush" part out. Kit: You have posted some of the best catches on this site, but your latest posts (although intended for Ijlal) were pure showoff. Brother we are not little kids here, and Ijlal is one of the elder fishermen around and hence deserves more respect, regardless of the differences between you guys. Pranab: I have read most of your posts and you seem to be a gentleman. However, if you really wish to keep the forum going (like you mentioned) your last post should have been confidential if it was intended for calming Kit down. Kit / Ijlal / Pranab: I think its time to let it go. |

hey guys i see the forum is seriously heatin up n i guess we found a way to kill the summer boredom.first id like to say that to me an angler who thinks he's any better than the rest is a jackass is a jackass is a jackass and is a jackass.catchin a mangrove jack with a popper thats 3 n a half inches long sayin its 7 inches,a grouper under 5 pounds n a queenfish hardly worth talkin about makes u nothin but a lucky amatuer kit.even pranab could probably do better than u.even you kno how much of an insult that is because u've fished with him.n for your info i said that xiphias is the genus name for sailfish not ijlal.why u gettin all worked up on him then??n do some research will you?the indo pacific sailfish is called both the istiophorus platypterus and the xiphias platypterus interchangably.if any1 on this forum has an ego its you n pranab is soo blown away by your 6 inch queenfish that all he can do is worship you .also judging by some of his earlier posts to jess there is a strong chance that he might have a little man crush on you. i hope you guys take this post in bad faith because im sick n tired of u talkin bout how people should watch u n learn from u.what do you think you are a broadway musical.oh everybody look at me look at me im fishin.n pranab for god sakes enough with tellin people u started fishing only 5 months ago.ur posts are proof enough.n i really cant understand how u tolerate a person like kit who publicly humiliates ur angling ability.read his last post again for god sakes maybe then u'll understand that ur friend is not all that u think he is.i hope my posting does not affect your relationship. until the winter may the battles continue |

my 2 fav lure? I won't put out the total name, but the guy who asked will know what it is... 1. starts with the letter "K" and ends with "R" comes in a very small size upto really heavy ones... made in america by a company that starts with the letter "A"... color? chrome, versatile... 2. starts with the letter "K" also and ends with "E" made by a company that starts with "L" 2 words... color? what else... chrome, versatile... you catch almost everything with these, from freshwater fish to saltwater bruisers... |

Fellow anglers , I have been seeing this forum for the last one year . I think angler 14 you can do one thing to stop the current controversy . Why dont you challenge Kit in a fishing contest infront of others and prove you are a better fishermen . Because after reading your last post i felt if you are so good its time for you not to behave a cross dresser and prove your self a real man . And if you chiken out to take on the contest then please for christ sake shut up your mouth like you did once before when Mr Kit answered all you question and you did promise to be out of this form and keep quite . If you have any shame left in you please take on the challenge head on . Please dont be a cry baby always . You are too matured enough for that . I have noticed one thing about your posts . You never post any pictures , you never talk about techiniques and the best part you never meet any one . If you are so good why do you shy away and keep blowing your horn by poking others behind them . |

ok guys...lets play a game: We all know that Birds 'Chirp' Dogs 'Bark' Cats 'Mew' etc etc etc......... What do fish do ?? . . . . . We all know that they make sounds. . . . . . If you said that they grunt (like the silver grunt) then you are wrong. ......cos pigs grunt. . . . . If you say that they croak...they you are wrong again cos frogs croak. . . . . . If you are still confused, try going under water & opening your mouth. yes you got that right, u will tend to drown. Get the feeling ?? You guys are all drowning in your own crap. For those that are really very very concerned about fish....please stop fishing. atleast then we can be sure that you are genuine & protecting the fish species. Stop injuring the fish & then try and take up for these poor speechless creatures. right now you are all nothing more than just hypocrites. |
