The Miramichi River in New Brunswick has seen some of the best Atlantic Salmon throughout 2001 and 2002 then it has seen in years.though 2002 had more smaller ones in early summer then in 2001 the fall run had some very big salmon.overall 2002 had more salmon then 2001. and 2001 had more then the river has seen in years,lets hope this continues for 2003.The Miramichi river has been known for years as being on of the best Atlantic Salmon Rivers in the world.No other river produces as many atlantic Salmon sees as many anglers days and offers such a lenth of fishable water. http://www.grayrapids.com |

Subject: Atlantic salmon fishing on the Miramichi river
After a late start to the season the salmon have been returning in great numbers. Some of the branches are up 500% over last years high. A few of the camps along the river are posting 30 to 40 fish days on as few as 4 rods. We have been having good success on our private stretch in Blissfield but have been fishing the Southwest from the head of tide to Doaktown. The water levels are excellent and the fish have been able to move upriver un-impeded. Fishermen have been hooking up just about anywhere you can throw a fly.
This season on the Southwest Miramichi is been described as the best in over fifty years and it just keeps getting better. The salmon keep coming!
The Northwest had a good run of about 10,000 fish so far but will need a little rain to freshen things up. Big Hole (just down river from our lodge) is holding several thousand salmon. These salmon are expected to move up with the next raise in water.
Most other tributaries of the Miramichi are experiencing the same phenomenal runs of salmon. This is great news in the face of diminishing runs worldwide. This season will mark the sixth consecutive year of increased runs on our rivers.

The 2002 salmon fishing season opens on the 15th of April and this spring fishing season should be great as there are around 11,000 more salmon and 9,000 more Grilse in the river this season than last season. http://www.mirafish.com |

Our 2001 season is now over,and we have seen a great number of fish this year,we have had more salmon in the river this season the we have had for the past 5 years,so this should make for some great salmon fishing in the spring of 2002 as these same salmon are going back out to sea |
