Amir,

We were merely bottom fishing using sabiki rigs with either squids, sardines or shrimps as bait. On numerous occasions, we hooked 2-3 different varieties of fishes on one rig. We call them "Combo".

Syed's hamour was hooked using the sardine bait.

Cheers!

And Kim, pal, you dont have to appreciate Pranab for being gentle accomodating about Abdul's jokes & jibes on him - thats strictly between Pranab and Abdul and has nothing to do with a peeper tom like you.

Dont assume the role of some "self appointed" moderator to comment on verbal exchanges between other memebers on the boat. Mind your own business mate. Period.

Wow Kim, your message to Abdul is too wierdly bizarre ...a wimpy lil note. You say "by the way ...didnt I thank you guys? Oh Mama Mia!!"

Jeez, Kim, your a BEEEG boy man. You dont need Mama Mia to remind you to thank your fishing buddies. For most sincere and honest people it comes without prompting and reminders and autmatically.

So you didnt remember to thak the group eh?
What the frikk is new pal. Thats my point. GET IT????????

Hello Abdul, there is nothing “cross cultural” about me taking a piss at KimKim…it s got to do with basic human courtesy. So lets not get entangled and confused with cultural issues if you don’t mind. As we agreed, lets keep culture, religion, caste, creed, color, sexual orientation, financial credibility, body mass index, choice of denim and cereals, preference of steak sauce etc la di da out of the forum. Eh? What I gotta to say to Kim has nothing to do with his culture….but everything to do with his “attitude”

Before I go further let me wish Syed a speedy recovery and say “HELLO” to Adam, Mohd, Pranab & Udup. Was too busy the whole of today.

AND my Dear Kim, what I didn't appreciate is your postings on the forum – YOU INSULT THE FORUM AND THE MEMBERS WHO ACCOMODATED YOU.

On both accessions – the one where Pranab took you to THE spot and enabled you to catch Baraks and this trip on Friday, where the pioneers of this forum enabled you to have a sublime fishing experience – THERE WAS NOT A WORD OF GRATITUDE. There was just disdain, mockery and sarcasm in your postings and THAT is the reason I feel it is my duty to cut you down to size. In my village the saying goes “ don’t spit in the plate you eat from” I hope you get the picture.

Firstly, Pranab took you to his spot for Baraks. Instead of being grateful in the TRUE SPIRIT of sportsmanship and thanking Pranab for showing you the spot, you go off at a tangent getting your knickers in a knot over the mention of your smoking!!!!! And insult him in the forum. Who the heck cares whether you smoke or not buddy? Nobody gives a damn bout your smoking or drinking or even if your shooting heroin. THIS IS A FISHING FORUM and your personal problems are your own. Pranab, in good faith, took you to catch Barraks – NOT to highlight or redeem u of your nicotine addiction. Instead you thanklessly posted stuff on the forum that was not worthy of a mature adult – least of all a fishing enthusiast. And by the way – you don’t need to bullshit me bout your smoking – I WITNESSED you puff away atleast 20 ciggarettes on Friday in a matter of 6 hours. So you not being a major smoker etc la di da is all a lot of crock – you can sing that story to the fairies man! HEHEHEHEHEHEH.

Secondly : After this wonderful trip on Friday at Port Rashid, you POST A CONDESCENDING NOTE SAYING – “for fisherman a small mackerel is a big Tuna”. Which means you are denigrating and insulting the whole trip and its members - casting insulting aspersions on all of us as being “exaggerators” and “falsifiers” of the “truth”. Who the heck are you man? To pass judgement on an entire group of people? Take your distrustful, contemptuous attitude and shove it where it rightly belongs buddy. We are all fishermen and NO, we are NOT exaggerators. People like myself, Pranab, Syed, Abdul, Mohd etc have copious and abundant experience is fishing and hunting to put up with the silly childlike comments of a novice like you.

All you had to contribute is you condescending and cynical remarks. This may be appreciated or ignored ore even overlooked by some. But not me.

And you very adroitly supplant the issue on the size of fish and the fish you took etc to evade the real issue. The fish you took were certainly not lil mackerel eh? So why the heck do you write such crap on the forum? Are you a mole for some other website? I wonder pal! And you make my comments to be all bout the “fish”. Its is NOT. Its all about your unappreciative and ridiculous postings. The fish I took I gave almost entirely to my “nathoor” and hardly ever did any bloody sushi pal. So its not bout the fish your took – its all bout the comments you make on the forum. Maybe you think you're some wiseass with these tongue-in-cheek comments and expect others to appreciate. Fine. But I don’t. Period. And the REAL ISSUE is that in your POSTINGs never expressed the basic common courtesy of thanking your fishing partners and the other people who make it all possible with their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment.

Kimmi ….you are basically a misanthropist and a cynic – And don’t think your latest posting profusely thanking Mohd and Abdul and Pranab etc is gonna let u off the hook. You're just being dishonest. You should have thanked them FIRST. ON SATURDAY. NOT NOW. You thanking them now is just a mere REACTION to my cutting you down to size. You didn't deem it worthy of thanking these wonderful people UNTIL I TOOK THE MICKEY OUT OF YOU AND MADE YOU REALIZE THE ERROR OF YOUR WAYS AND WORDS. You're “thank you” posting is pretty much like a child caught with his hands in the cookie jar – and compelled to apologize. So what the heck is genuine or SINCERE about your apology. Nothing.

Grow Up Kim. Dont pretend to be what your are NOT.

Dear Abdul,

I think you're absolutely right. Yes, we should quit all these childish topics like whose sheri was the biggest or whose was the smallest and it was a baby GT or was a mackarel, or whatsoever. We had a lot of fun and that's it.

By the way, didn't I thank you guys? Oh, mama mia!!! I thought I did while on board. If not, I thank you very much even though it may be a bit late.
Thank you, Abdul, for arranging the fantastic trip and for all your jokes which made us laugh and laugh all the time. I'll look forward to our next trip together either to Sharjah or to UAQ.
Thank you, Mohamed & Ijlal, for joining us all the way down from ABD. Mohamed, you should join this forum, too. Ijlal, get up from the bed very soon so that we can have a MAESTRO again for our next fishing trip.
Thank you, Pranab, for being so gentle despite of Abdul's naughty jokes on you. His jokes were really naughty. But it's just jokes, you know. hahaha..
And especially thank you, Dylan, for acutely pointing out what I lack. But please don't mention about the dog meat any more, coz it sounds silly...

Regards,
Si Kim

Mr. Kimmi...hello Mate. God loves u and so do I. Sheri or no sheri your sushi is something to die for (and i'm sure the fish shared the same sentiment) heheehheheehhehee

But what u lack is the common decency of expressing a basic "Thank You" note for the trip the people (Adbul, Pranab, Syed, Mohd etc)organized so u cud catch your lil pissant fish. No word of gratitude at all. All u had to say was that mackerels cud be as big as tuna, depending on the fishermans's sense of myth. I think that is kinda shit mate. Maybe if you I cud come wid you to Korea I cud teach u to finesse something bigger than roasted chicken or dog meat sandwiches. Think bout it KimmiKimmmmKimmmmBaaaaaaaaaby . And talk to me if ya want

By da way I just love this fishing forum and everybody that comes up to the monty and does his bit. Ciao fo niao...

Bye all u guys and take care for now. God Bless

Hi guys ,

I think abdul is correct . When we go fishing we go out there for fun . And after catching so much of fish i personally feel its childish later to do things like this .

For me i will say its a learning cruve . I am learning each day . Ok may be i by mistake i told white fin travelly as GT .

Now may i ask except udu who here has caught a GT . No one i think or may be i dont know . So why this hue and cry by people none of whom has caught a GT .

Come on guys if we did not hook up a GT we will in our next trip . Why make a miunderstanding out of such a small issue .

If people are so sensitive this forum wont run at all . Lets enjoy the fun of fishing . Thats moer important . He he . Ok guys if my wife approves my visit to mussandam i will catch the biggest GT in mussandam waters . If i cant i will STILL KEEP ON WRITING on this fourm about dreams of catching a GT . Lets all of us take things on the lighter side of life .

With regards

Pranab,

There are lots of trevally's variations. Diamond trevally, Big Eye trevally, Silver/White Trevally, Golden Trevally, Giant Trevally (aka GT). Only the GT (so called GIANT) which grows upto enormous sizes i.e upto 50kgs+ in some occasion.

As what I had always kept on advising you, better get the facts right first prior to posting otherwise others will assume that most of your info are unreliable.

Kim/Dylan - I think that there is some sort of "cross-cultural" misunderstanding here. I sincerely hope that this can be ironed out soon so as not to become any serious. Forget about everything else, just think about the fune we had. Just imagine, if Pranab had got upset on all the jokes I had thrown at him.......I would had been thrown overboard by him ...to be fed to the very same shark which had canabalised his sheri....remember?

Come on guys......the very objective of this forum is to group all of us ...with the very same interest (FISHING) together....irrespective of our cultures, religions, nationalities etc.

Life is all about give and take. One shouldn't just expect to take all the time. It has to be in good balance.

rather that arguing about all these petty little things, we might as well try to plan for a group visit for our "fish pal" (brother Syed Ijlal) in distress.

Cheers!

Dear kim and dylan ,

I think udu is correct . He caught a lot of GT in mussandam . So i agree it might be white fin travelly . But not a giant travelly . I say this only because i have noticed the GIANT TRAVELLY has a more ash coloured tint over their back . The ones that we caught first of all are not as massive of their brothers available in mussandam . Secondly the size is also much less that available in the mussandam .

So lets not get excited on this topic . So what if its not a GIANT TRAVELLY . Its a travelly na . Thats give us the good reason to go for the mussandam trip for popping and jigging .

every one please forgive me for the spelling mistake of the word jigging in my last post .

By the way post all the other pics of the trip . I know it can take a little time but its worth hosting them . People who missed the trip would lv to see them .

Dear kim ,

Please dont feel like that . In fact you never wanted any fish . We only forced you to take the big ones so that the susi is well prepared .

He he the reason is that you ask us to taste it . Take every thing on a lighter side buddy . Dont be so serious on smaller things .

In fact i am the one who had the most fish in my bag when i hardly caught any . When i reached home i realised that and i asked guys to come and take it . You knw why because my wife is mad now with me . She said no funds for mussandam he he . So i am desperate to empty my freezer .

By the way i was calling you from morning why no response on your cell . Did you leave it back home .

Dear Dylan,

Thank you for the shocking comments. But I didn't expect it would be you to say so. hahaha...
Anyway, I will take all your advices, pal.

BTW, I am terribly sorry for taking the BIG sheris (some of which you may have caught) for my sushi.
I didn't know that you grudged those so much. Why didn't you tell me so on the boat?
Then I could have made my sushi only from the tiny little MINOWs that I caught. hahaha...

Hello Pranab,
Hows it going with visiting Ijlal? Any plans?
In fact, when I called him last evening he was just being admitted in hospital. I immediately called Abdul, informed him. I did call you too but you didnt pick your phone. Maybe you were busy. And most importantly, I DID NOT want to post this matter in the forum because I felt it necessary to take Ijlal's opinion on how he felt bout it; the publicity and all etc etc.

I offered to drive down to him last night but he firmly advised me not to. And then my wife too added her bit of wisdom saying "your not a bloody orthopaedic surgeon youre just a fisherman (hehehehe) - he's okay and in good hands. You'll be goin there and disturbing him when actually he could do with some good rest". And I guess she was right.

Anyway, do tell me whats up for the nxt 24 hrs.
Thanks Rich for your approbations on our catch. I will be posting the pictures right now

Bye all

Dear keyur , heber , khalil , khalid , james , naveed ,

Thanks to you all for coming over and helping me out with the fish . You know what i think i can take a try to convience my wife for the mussandam trip .

As the freezer is empty now i get a reason to pick up my fishing rod again .

To all the guys from both the forum . I request all of you who are intersted in upcoming mussandam and fuj trip please be in contact with me over the cell phone for booking the space for the above mentioned trip .

This time i got a lot of complaints from the fishing buddies that so many of them are left behind . I always say look at the forum for the next upcoming trip .

I have not decided the per head as i first need to know how many guys are going . Not only that then i have to prepare for the food and drinks accordingly . And lastly most important about the date and weather check before we sail .

Take care

pranab

Hi rich ,

I mean this is the first time i got to see travelly . I am not so sure in fact some of our members suggested they are golden travelly . But please have a look at the pics . I requested dylan to upload them . I am sure they are not full grown monsters but they are same kind of GT avail able in the mussandams .

But now kim will say i am adding spice to the reports . But please lets all have a closer look at the pics of the trip .

I am for sure they are baby ones but they are GT . I am wrong you guys can skin me to death . But again i am not expert about fish species . That domain completely belong to Ijlal and keyur he he who fight and die for the names sake bonito or kawa kawa . he he ling or cobia .

What ever it may the ones we hooked up are cute creatures . I enjoyed the trip too much .

I wish some one had video on the trip then we could have taken the shark attack and how the fish was slashed with the sharp teeth attack .

Over all it was an excellent trip

With regards

Pranab

Yo Kim, sometime a big mackerel CAN be a big TUNA when fishermen TALK (as you unceremoniously state). But NOT THIS TIME BUDDY. You medicine is playing tricks on you. Coz I'm sure all those HUGE sheri(each above bout 2 kilos) you carted off for shushi are NOT, in your parlance, large mackerels. From what I observed you blooded (gutted) about 6/7 sheris to ostensibly "shushi" or whatever you guys call eating raw fish. And they were NOT mackerels mon ami.

So did you sushi the HUGE Sheri you took or did you, as a delusionalexaggerating fisherman, think they were big MACKREL and throw it in the bin? YOOOHOHOHOHOHO. My bet is you sucked the fish dry offa the bone mano!!! And probably told all your buddies you caught it ALONE - by yourself et al mon ami (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

Come on Kimmi...Show me some Sushi man!! What all of us caught was a BIG catch man!! Including Trevaly, Sheri, Hammour,Sultan Ibrahim etc. And of course, you caught your ikky lil shmall bunny wabbit minows as well. Maybe we should nominate you the mackerel catching expert(hehehehe)

Anyways, We decked bout 40 Kilos that day - just incase you were not aware while dreaming or shushi sheri. They were not lil mackerel on high protein diet as u suggest ikkle lil Kimiiii. (teeheeheehohoho).

Yo Kimmiiii my pal, its ok for you to be cynical occassionally buddy..Everybody appreciates a bit of humor. But it gets kinda tiresome over a period of time if repeated. Maybe you can sponser me to Korea and I cud see what lil sardines and shrimps you have to catch out there eh? Get ourselves a KIA or a trundling Hyundai and check the spots out. Only dont feed me dog meat man (heheheheheehehehehehehe)

Anyways, seriously pal, I think u need see your therapist again or continue to stay on your PROZAC for a lil longer pal .. because you seem to suffer from situationally delusions...HEHEHEHEHEH.

Bye my ikkle bunny wabbit...take care and dont let the shushi bite...(yahahahaHOOOOOO)

Dear Rich,

GTs off port Rashid?
Oh~~ that? We caught some "TRAVELLYs".

You see? We are fishermen.
Fishermen are all like that.
Sometimes a mackarel can be a big "TUNA"
when we talk about the catch. hahaha...

Thank you to all you guys - Abdul, Pranab, Mohd, Syed and Kim for the wonderBANS off Rashid Port. Man! Twas frikkin wonderfull - except that I came back burnt like charcoal in the face. But who cares.

It took me bout an hour to scale and gut and clean the fish. But heck - if you wanna sleep - you gotta learn to make you bed eh? "wink wink".

Abdul- thanks buddy for the arrangements and Pranab for taking me out there and lending his reel etc etc and getting my adrenalin pumping. You guys are da best.
And amazing was seeing Syed an Mohd - all the way from ADB!!!! It was like a "ah haaa" experience - Like seeing realtives from a long gone era or a far away place. Didnt know last weekend in ADB could seem that distant or that nostalgic. And I need you Syed....to tell me what the fish I've hooked is, EVEN BEFORE I LAND IT. You DISGUSTING GENIUS yooooouuuu....You are a frikkin floating encyclopedia of fish, fauna and flora in this region and I hate you for that. But you are afterall a necessary supplement at this time....Very soon I'll try to package you and sell you the the unsuspecting German tourists ...HEHEHEHEHHEHEHE.

All in all I think we realy busted big balls considering I held up the expedition coz I didnt have my ID. Sorry bout that. And anyone who reminds me of it and tries to push it in my face will be pushed overboard nxt time ...YeeHAWWW.

Anyways...gotta go mates...call you guys later and munch the dhough...
God Bless ya all....

Can some one get me Mohd's number so I can give him a call and harrass him...(evil laugh)

Montes...your remind of a wise man who once told me..."ITS BETTER TO BE SILENT AND BE THOUGHT TO BE A FOOL...THAN OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND TAKE AWAY ALL DOUBTS"

You have just confirmed to me that the wise man was a surely a wise man after all. Thank you.

Bye for now and hope you have a nice life and dont end up like a fish dangling on the hook of ignorance. You see...doya know WHY fish get caught? That because they, the Trevali or Hamour or Sheri or Shark or Salmon dont have LEANIER LOGIC - they are too dumb to learn. They remain in a state of ignorant kinesis- even after escaping the hook they still come for more. They dont share data. But the fact is the creation made them so, so people like us could go and fish em - And that doesnt meant we insult them. That means we must respect the creator who made it possible to have STRUCTURED INTELLIGENCE so we could do what we do; FISH. Imagine if fish all over the oceans had the ability to dissemminate data the way humans have. You Mr. Montes would find yourself in Alsaka whith your you hands between your legs and not a single fish in your in your pot and dying of hypothermia. So thank God for the blessings you have and respect the stratified distribution of intelligence He has meted out to all his creations. Dont hold it against a mango tree for not proving you lemons. Be gratefull for what you have. Coz THAT IS WHAT CREATION IS ALL ABOUT - RESPECT AND APPRECIATION AND COMPASSION. If you havent found that INSIDE you....you'll NEVER find it across the horizon.

So once agin lil Montes or Mentos or whatever - happy living - as long as it lasts. We all gotta go some time buddy? Ask the Trivali we caught during the weekend. They will confirm my ethos. Ciyolateraligator. And my Hedgehog sends you his regards too....and is booking you a seat out there in near the LIGHT....heheheh

Hi guys ,

Thank you guys for making the trip a success once again off port rashid . I really like this team which is making every fishing trip a success . Other wise off the coast of port rashid people say there are no fish in dubai waters . We landed GT , HAMOUR , SHERI , YELLOW SPOTTED TRAVELY , GOAT FISH and god the sheri what size and what fights . Really enjoyed the last trip of this season . Ijlal bhai was the fisherman of the day with a massive hamour and also with one GT .

I specially like i dont know though the shark attack may be when i got only the head of a sheri rest bitten by a shark may be . My weight was also gone . We could not get any trolling . But bottom fishing was execellent . Thank you once again abdul and dyln for making the trip an exceptional one with the small jokes . And kim you too for the rice weed korean food . Over all it was a very satisfying trip .

Heber if you are hearing i tried on your cell yesterday to give some of the catch . Would you please come over to my place so that i can give you some .

Raise hands for mussandam and fuj trips guys . Although i promised my wife i wont be going in any more sea trips this year .

With regards

Pranab

Jess,

IMHO, when making fun or joking, please kindly refrain from those which have referrences to nationalities, religions as well as beliefs.

I, myself was a non-muslim (Bruneian of Chinese origin) before embracing the Muslim faith, thus had experienced "both sides of the equation".

Respect towards each-other's religions, beliefs and nationalities are the key components of peaceful coexistence among all.

Best Regards!

Hey Jigwrex,

Don't want to upset your plans for a fishing trip out to UAQ. But having my boat there since last November till last month I can honestly tell you that the fishing is not so good out there. Only barracuda and lizard fish.

Oh well maybe it has got better since I left. But I think if you get on a boat and travel 30 - 40 miles offshore you can catch almost anything.

If you know Tacklebloke (aka Lengyian Chua) then they go off Sharjah and always have a good time.

Anyway hope you catch.

Tight Lines,

Yo Abdul, Um Al Quaim is just right n proper. I'm on. There is also a hotel called Barracuda and lovely chalets and a gorgeous beach. We could also do scuba or snorkel if we allow enough time in the itinerary. Maybe go on a Thu evening - overnight and fish on Fri and return in the evening/ But lets do it fore the summer sets in. Else it'll be havoc. Also Pranab has an idea bout Mussandam - lets discuss this. How bout meeting at Spinneys Trade Center tomorrow? Pranab you too buddy. And all our mates from ADB - Syed, Adam pls take note and follow the threads of communication....Ciao for now

Okay Okay Okay....TIME OUT guys...take a breather and chill. Kim and Pranab - kiss and make up guys. These typo barbs are making things rather queasy to read.

Although I don’t know most guys on this forum, this much I do know - that Pranab is one of the most sincere, modest, unassuming and plainspoken person I have met in the long and illustrious life I have led. HeHe.. So exaggeration or not - sometimes we gotta go beyond the content to the CONTEXT. As long as the intention is honorable and not in any way malicious - then take it with a pinch of salt and digest it. And keep your peace.

By the way, I’m rather new to deep sea fishing. I'm more into hunting. Wild boar, bison, deer, porcupine, bats, rabbit, duck, mountain goat – name it. And even out there in the villages we have "legends" and "stories" that are passed on generation to generation. That’s what life is about. WHERE THE LEGEND BECOMES BIGGER THAN THE CHRONICLE with time. Where the hunter becomes a midget and the prey becomes a giant – so David becomes a giant slayer when he kills Goliath. But who the heck has witnessed it? Was Goliath 15 feet tall as the records say? Its nonsense – its biologically impossible for a heart to support that kind of body mass. We now know exceedingly large people die early and don’t have the strength to pick even a toothpick? So what do I do then? Do I question the genuineness and veracity of the Book of Testimony – the Holy Bible? Can I say Goliath had a heart attack or seizure on the battle field? No Man.

I ENJOY LEGENDS AND MYTHS JUST AS MUCH AS REALITY. I LOVE THE STORIES ABOUT THE “ONE THAT GOT AWAY”. That’s the spice of life. And if Pranab (like the rest of us) exaggerates a bit – so be it. What good is an opera without the amplified sound track eh? Life is best led BIGGER THAN LIFE.
So If you’re a fisher or hunter - without legends and myths - what’s life? After all - whether its history or religion - more has been consolidated on the strength of "probability" and “plausibility” and “myth” than on the real McCoy! When watching a Steven Spielberg film, are you gonna be a cynic and criticize his “academic position” or are you gonna enjoy the movie and give credit to his febrile imagination? Duh!!
MORE INVENTIONS HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE COZ MAN DARED TO DREAM!

I'm new to this forum and I sign on looking for reports on "fishing" and not a forum for fielding personal qualms or exceptions. COME ON PEOPLE: We've gotta be larger than that. We're ONE community bonded together by a common passion - FISHING. So lets keep it that way eh?

BACK TO THE SUBJECT – in every posting on this forum, should there be something that may rankle or hurt us, we must in the true spirit of the forum, address it with deserving lenience. That it was without malice or prejudice and KEEP OUR PEACE.

LIFE IS SHORT AND GOD HAS BLESSED US – ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS. Today, at 11pm my hedgehog (PeeWee) breathed his last and died. He stayed up and strong until I made a mixture of honey and water and “syringe fed” him. He swallowed the drink and stared me in the face with his beautiful eyes and died in my arms. I have buried him opposite my house and am now gonna go down to plant some flowers on his resting place. His soul will rest in peace coz I know he is now closer to God than we are.

((((((((((((PRANAB+KIM)))))))))))))))))) hug make up you monkeys and go get another barrak manos

Pranab,

I was just teasing you. I hope you don't get offended. Have a good fishing trip. Like what Kim was saying, maybe we will plan for everyone's participation soon.

Currently trying to find out more about a boat charter in Um Al Quwain.....whereby nine can go in a big boat with toilet facility for six hours at AED150-180 each.

Anybody interested?

From what I had heard, fishing is much better in Um Al Quwain than in Dubai or Sharjah.

Will keep you guys posted on the developments!

Cheers!

Dear Pranab,

Well, I didn't say that you degraded me. And I don't think you did. What I was trying to say is that we have to post our reports without any make-up.

Regarding your trip, I was just kidding. Take it easy, pal. Don't appologize for anything. Then, I should ask you for an appology, too. Coz I also have a plan to go for a fishing trip this weekend, without offering you. hahaha...

Next time we go together, eh?

Dear kim ,

What there to be uneasy about . I explained you everything . I am very open minded person . I dont think simple things so complicated . I express and share my feelings . I always try to keep the forum lively without any confusion . Why are u thinking i tried to degrade your fishing ability . Heck no . I told you if i am in korea i will be worse than you . Anyways i dont want any misunderstanding but would apologise once again if i am making u uncomfortable .

Tbis is what i tell about fishing . Its a learning curve all the way . I dont feel small when i ask sugessions from udu . He is half my age . I dont feel uncomfortable did not you see i asked riche and udu to teach me . Any ways pls pls i consider you a good friend of mine . And all guys on the forum are welcome to join me . I am the only guy who take people where i go . There are no of guys here who slip away alone to fish . Secondly without taking names who is present in both the forums whom i intorduced new spots told me once when i met him under makhtoum bridge that he knows a spot in garhoud but wont tell as he wants to keep it to him self .

I really hate these kind of guys thts why i appreicated abdul when he gave the coordintes of the cobia spot.

Please no confusion please

Dear Pranab,

Thank you for replying.

Well, actually your post didn't "hurt" me at all, but how can I say.... yes, I felt uneasy a bit about the DRAMATIZED story.
Of course, all the fishermen tend to exaggerate when they talk about their catch... In that sense, I think I can understand.

BTW.. you are going to Oman? As abdul complained without offering us to join?
Hmmmm... I think I feel uneasy again.. hahaha.

Have a nice trip, buddy!!

Regards,

Si Kim

Every one is welcome to join me . And as we drive there its just free go and catch fish . You know very well i am nothing without my fishing buddies . Huh?

Going fishing in Khor? Without even offering us.....the so called fishing buddies?

BTW as righly said by Kim, we should try to write the actual facts WITHOUT too much of "MASALA" otherwise it will be too difficult to determine/distinguish between the actual happenings and fiction.

Cheers!

Dear kim ,

I am sorry i was busy so i did not find time to answer you . First of all i apologise to you if my post on that days cuda hunt hurt your feeligns. It was not meant to be that way . Its not your fault at all . IF I WAS TRYING TO CATCH FISH IN KOREA I WILL LAND UP IN YOUR SITUATION . Its the enviornment which changed not the fishing ability of you .

I know you are a very experienced person as far as fishing goes . And thats why i wrote the way you got back the lost rapala in the water with another one showed you high fishing skill . So please no hard feelings .

About sting ray . I hope every one saw i posted a pic of an syrian arab gentle man . We went to abduls house back yard to hunt for sting ray . I put uma means sardine cut into small pieces for stingray . On the first throw i got sting ray only to realise i am supposed to pick some one up at dubai airport when my wife called in between as she did during our fishing trip in auh and i lost the biggest one he he .

Any ways i left the spot giving the rod to this guy to guitar this fish out . My cell did not have money nor it had battery . So i left the michell rod and 950 SS with a simple fisherman khalil . I told him i will return after one hour . When i returned this man vanished . Leaving me no clue how i get back the rod and reel . Next day when i returned from office i saw this man sitting infront of MARLINE fishing shop which is below my apartment . He dont know english but he told me he had been sitting there from 4 o clock afternoon just to return my rod and reel . So thats the story because of wich i wrote i am in a state of shock .

Any ways if you like to hunt sting ray we can do it after this week end . This week end i am going to a omani khor across the border by car for fishing . I think dylan will accompany me in the trip . I promise we hunt stingray togather the following week .

With regards

pranab

Dear Ijlal / Pranab,

Ijlal, Despite many emails to ART Marine the sponsors of the BIG 6 and phone calls I have yet to receive any formal response to a date for the BIG 6. When the official date becomes available, no doubt Fish Emirates will enter a few teams as was originally said. Unfortunately my boat is now down at Fujairah so to bring it back for a days competition is out of the question. However I am sure with the ever increasing number of Fish Emirates members (108 and growing) we should be able to enter a team or two, but of course this depends on boat availability? Oh well we shall see.

Pranab,

It was a pleasure to speak to you on the phone again. Sorry you didn't receive the email I sent with your new password on, but at least you have it now. Sorry I have been having problems with our email server but all issues are resolved now.

Anyway guys speak to you soon.

Tight Lines,

Ian Harper aka Fishemirates

Hello Ritchie,

Thanks for the info pal! I guess these guys had not done their homework well, as they should have conducted the tournament any time from October to end of December in the first place. Anyhow, this means we may be able to enter a Fish Reports team as well

Take care,
Ijlal

Dear Si Kim and Abdul Latif,

I really do not have words to thank you for going out and searching who was selling Slammers! The prices they are selling them at are however, too high, so I guess I would order one direct from Cabela's or Basspro. Made in China is not a problem as long as the reels are genuine Penns, as most Penn products are now manufactured in China.

Kindest regards,
Ijlal

Good morning Ijlal
Re: your request for info about the Big 6 - it's been postponed again.
Here's a quote from a mail the Charter Sales Mananger sent me earlier:

"Unfortunately the Big6 was postponed again! We received information from the Coastguard that there would be restriction on boat movements so we had to postpone. The next date for the competition has not yet been announced but since it is nearing the end of the fishing season it will probably be around December."

So there we go!!
Best
R

Dear Brother A. Latif,

I agree for the type of fishing we did that day, your and Mohammed's rods are more that sufficient, and it is so very sweet of you to offer to get me a rod from Brunei. I surely would like to get a jigging or popping rod, and will let you know. At the moment I am trying to avoid buying any more stuff, except for a small spinning reel such as a Slammer 360.

As for my rods, the Penn Power Stick and Slammer are not really heavy or bulky, but they are for a different purpose than your rods, which are actually jigging rods. My Penn Mariner 30-80 lb standup rod is heavy and is my rod to go after big game such as yellowfin tuna and marlins whenever I get the opportunity to do so. It is not the best quality rod available but it serves its purpose. I wouldn't use it over here for fish like barracuda and kingfish but trolling big heavy-drag deep-diving lures as the Stretch 30's and 40's would not be possible with my other rods. I do plan to replace this rod with maybe a Penn International or a Crowder standup but it would still be of similar proportions.

I do have around 11-12 rods for different purposes, some cheap ones, some good quality. Some are lightweight like the Tsunami baitcaster I was using to do bottom fishing. I recently bought a Penn Pro Guide Surf rod, which is also very light, and this is the rod I need a slammer 360 reel for.

Cheers,
Ijlal

Syed Bro,

Why would you guys still want to use big bulky and heavy rods when nowadays they are much slimmer (thus lighter) but having higher load ratings just like all of my rods as well as that of Mohammed's....as you saw during our last meet.

Additionally, these rods are not that much more expensive.

We have a very vast selections of good value for the money rods from Eupro, Loomis and Franklin, Abu Garcia, Pioneer tackle, Shakesphere etc ranging from AED200-AED600 as well as those which are top of the range rods e.g Fisherman, Seven Seas, G. Loomis, Carpenters, Daiwa, Shimano etc. which will run upto AED2000+!

Let me know if you require such rods. Will get them from Brunei on my next trip.

Cheers!

Dear Pranab,

I have been waiting for your report on the Sat evening's stingray hunting for the Thai guys. Coz I believe your awesome ABILITY to find where the fish are, must have led a success for the Thai guys too.

We, most Koreans, like steamed stingrays with oyster sauce. (We may be able to buy them from fish market, but only fresh one can make a good dish.) Hmmmmm.. it's yummy. If you had any success there, I will try the spot some day. If I land one, I would cut its tail first, coz I don't want to die like Mr. Steve Irwin. hahahaha...

Regards,

Si Kim

Dear Ijlal,

Yes, as Abdul said, we went to the sporting equipment shop and saw the Penn Slammer 560 and 360. Price for 560 is AED 840+ and for 360,... I don't remember.. something like AED 640(?). But I believe they are Chinese made.

I visited Barracuda shop once. They are selling Penn reels, but as far as I remember the prices were very high. Probably they are US made..(?) Mr. Abbas is the owner of the shop but he is not there. So... you can't expect any discount. haha..

Regards,
Kim

Syed bro,

Check out the sporting equipment shop at Jumeirah Road next to Al-Hamour Fishing Gear shop. Saw lots of Penn rods and reels there just now with Kim.

Otherwise you can visit Baracuda Fishing Tackle shop just near the abra on Baniyas Road. Lots of good quality rods e.g Cape Fear, Seekers and Penn. We(Pranab, Chua, Kim and myself) kinda know the owner, a local by the name of Abbas. He might be able to give some discounts.....I think.

Cheers!
