YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHRRRGG..... [dylan yelling out blood curdling murderous war cry and charging like pit bull towards his intended target with harpoon gun ...as his poor unsuspecting prey sits calmly on the deck of boat casting his cherished Stella, while sipping lemon tea... the setting sun casting an ethereal radiance bathing the sea with a warm golden glow...and the rays reflecting magical highlights off the anglers well groomed hair and the metal body of the Stella, the evening breeze softly caressing the happy plump face of the angler...Its a picture of contentment...life feels soo gooood. So serence. Such peace] AND THEN SUDDENLY.... KCCCHHHUUUNNNNKKKKK - the spear burries into the back of its target. All peace is shattered and horror blights the sublime beauty of the moment as the angler topples over into the briney and is swallowed up into the murky depths of the ocean. And pandemonium descends.... Tsk Tsk..Oh what a terrible end. Hmmmmmmm....one particular angler here (i shall not say who) should take this reverie of mine seriously the next time he catches his hammours & Sharks and doesnt give me my UNfair share... |

Very Happy for you Abdul and Amir. Abdul: Woulda been much happiers for "you" if one of those had landed in my cooking pot I woulda sung your praises on this forum. But then (sigh)the world is so selfish . Will be going to Sun n Sand this evening to pick up the braid and a harpoon gun. Will call u thn. Later to Picnico to check out the kayaks they have. Amir, buddy, I got few Nagroors below the Mak bridge bout 10+ days ago. Nagroors are fish of the season thereabouts - and very tasty. But i'm getting a l'il tired of the bridge. Too many irritants - entire families (man, woman, kids, brothers, sisters-in-law, maid...whole jingbang)running around, tripping over rods, messing with gear, even casting lines right at my shoulder and ENTANGLING MY LINE!!!...and u cant say a thing when its a lady??? Just smile,smile,smile..till your jaws ache. Where exactly in the park dya guys cast from? Do lemm know. I've been mostlyindoors due to the humidity though but I'm planning to try the spot between Maktoum and Floating bridge soon. |

Went fishing with 06 fellow countrymen in Abu Dhabi from Midnight till Friday morning at about 0900hrs. The sea was VERY VERY choppy with most of us getting seasick!!!!! This was the first time I ever had it in my whole life. However I didn't throw up Prior to the sunrise, ALMOST no bites!!!!! BUT as soon as the sun rises, the hook-ups were almost continuous! List of catches were as follows; 02 decent sized hamours, 02small ones + 01 red hamour. 04 small sharks, 02 released so that they can come back when they are bigger!!!!! 01 Golden trevalley estimated at 2.5kgs. 02 silver snappers estimated at 1kg each Few sheries Few sheries look-alike but with golden colour and a dark spot towards the tail....don't know the name but quite tasty. Did some trolling on the way back WITHOUT any result! Ciao! |

Hi guys, I and Ali went to Creek park yesterday. We managed to catch around 3 kgs of fishes, 4 in total, 2 released back and 2 taken. All of them were nagroors. One was huge must be more then a KG. Though the biggest one was caught by a hand line, the remaining through line and rod. A barracuda allmost landed on Ali. We were shocked to see the baracuda about 2 feet, and that to in Creek park. Tried spinning for the barracuda but to no avail. Very very good day at fishing. regards Amir |

Hi Dylan, You are right, I have studied the specs of the inflattables in detail through the net. The reason for me to actually see one in person is that there are two kinds of boat in which the motors could be positioned. One is the one in which the motor is hanged through two handles whereas the other one is which has a plastic back on which you could clamp the motor. I would prefer the latter as the plastic back gives you the chance to actual screw a decent rod holder on to it. However, I am still evaluating the options. Regarding the seplling mistakes, I dont get in to such petty issues. I know your intention are clean, so no problems with that. Regards Amir |

Anyone wanna exchange a good-as-new Epson OHP (Over Head Projector)for fishing gear? Lemme know. Its been used by me personally for bout a year. Brand: EPSON, Model: EMP-SL1 Todays Cost on the Net: US$489 (which is far below what I paid for it) You could check the Net for specs and features. It's robust and has one of the best performance records in its class. I wanna sell it ONLY coz I wanna top-up my fishing gear and coz I've repalced it with the Epson with a Sony OHP. Its available with carrying case and manuals and all standard accessories. If interested post me a message on this forum detailing what gear you have to offer. G'night. Amir, excuse the typo/spelling mistakes in my post to you regds inflatable. But know that I just got your best interests in mind. |

Hi aMIR...you dont need to see an inflatible or a rigid hull Kayak and paddle it to guage its performace! These boats are SOLD ON SPECIFICATIONS. Thats the general trend with most serious buyers and sellers of such sea faring devices world wide. And deciding to insatall an outboard motor on a kayak without actually knowing the specs and engineering dynamics is too premature - its like deciding to fix an engine -without knowing what chassis your gonna end up with..it could be a shopping cart, a bycycle, motorcycle or car chassis...Wheresas you COULD technically fix an engine to all, the dynamics of the process would be dratically diverse. Cheers and good luck. |

Hi Dylan, I spoke to Atef about the inflattable. He advised that he has sold off the 10 peices he had. Additionally, he would probably send for another batch some time ending this month. As i am interested in one, so i requested him if I could see the one he has so that before getting one Iam able to judge the performance as I would eventually put a small motor on it. rgds Amir |

Are you serious bout them or you just shooting blanks? and are basically just a waste of my time. Post your reply or I'm not gonna bother bout the subject deeming it just a lota of flim-flam from you and consider the matter closed. Bye |

Ijlal, You're right about changing the balance of the lure, but some of the fresh water lure are great for saltwater too. Here's a trick I learned from an old salt. Take a CD 14 and replace the lip with a CD 18 lip. and look at the wonders.. Thanks rami |

Thanks to Ijlal and Rami on your inputs regds the lure..excellent info to store into my "notes" to write the "fishing for dummies" book I plan to write so I can retire a millionaire. Actually all these seemingly miniscule ideas and thoughts and opinions are so critical when you take it to the next level. No wonder the saying "dont mistake the forest for the trees" and neither should you "mistake the trees for the forest" holds so much water. Every tiny bit of info counts when one has an open mind as is willing to learn and assimilate. Thank u guys once again. And ATEFFFFFFF...what bout your inflatables mate? Or has somone punctured em and rendered em unsaleable? Tell us quickly. Time is running short as I wait in the parking lot with just ONE dhiram worth of ticket time..... |

Rami, I would like to add that in all probability, changing hooks to the heavier saltwater grade would disbalance the lure, light as it is. My argument is why use a freshwater lure in saltwater at all when there are so many wonderful lures available for salt use. Just my 0.02... Thanks, Ijlal |

And Atef, mate you gotta get a lot mre serious bout your inflatable..it may not need a licence but when youre venturing out into the sea the specks have got be spot on acccurate. Doesent bothe me buddy..I'm a strong swimmer...I stood No 18 among 245 competents for the 1 mile swimming chalenge --starting from Jum Beach Hotel ..arund teh Burj Al Arab and back...But I always make sure that who ever comes with me, whether hunting, fishing or driving or whatever, is SAFE AND SECURE in my care and will get back to his/her home safely inshallah. This kick tail lure is designed for large Mouth Bass fishing, Using this lure is saltwater would not be idle due to the fact that this lure is light on weight and would not cast far from shore. It's designed to be used with 6.6 to 7ft rods. and use in relatively shallow water. To use this lure in saltwater you have adjust the following: 1- Replace the front split ring with a heavy duty one. 2- Same as split ring to attach the hooks 3- change the hooks to saltwater grade. This lure is used in saltwater to catch Red and trout mainly in the flats and the mangroves trees areas. Also, Strike King lure company got a other mega lure like that that can be used in saltwater with the above alterations. I am not sure where you would find them in UAE. Hope this helps. Rami |

Amir, As far as trolling set-up is concerned, (my personal opinion) just get one of the overheads from OKUMA from here itself and then just get one trolling rod from there....or even from here itself as UNLESS you are planning to get a comparatively short or 02piece (butt jointed) rod, carrying it will be quite troublesome...unless you have one of those rod-cases (for checking-in) like me!!!!!. Otherwise the rod(s) might arrive in bad conditions. Additionally, the prices offered by Sun & Sands nowadays are quite good also. You get what I mean...do you??? As I work in the airline industry, I am fully aware how "BLOODY" careful those baggage handlers are!!!!!!! Please let me know if you want to borrow any of my rod cases.....for a price...he..he..he.. JUST KIDDING bro!!!!!!! Cheers! |

Atef, How far in to the sea do you take the inflattable. I intend to get one but iam unsure about the use. Can it be used in the sea or it can be used only around shallow water. Does the inflattable come along with (the sticks to move the boat) I have forgotten what it is called in English. (In Urdu & Hindi) its called Chapppuu. Where can i see one of these. Amir, Fishing gears prices in Malaysia varies quite alot depending upon their countries of manufacture. Locally manufactured gears e.g reels & rods of Shimano and Daiwa are comparatively cheaper there BUT if of other countries e.g Japan, Thailand, Taiwan or China are slightly dearer. The Daiwa Saltigas or the Shimano Stellas are cheaper by a few hundreds (dirhams) in Brunei than there. Few of the serious anglers from there are actually buying these high-end imported gears from Brunei. The Stellas there are as expensive as here!!!!! The Okuma V-system is cheaper here. Even the Daiwa BG series. Malaysia manufactured lots of good quality rods with components (SiC guides and reel seats) from Fuji or Pacific bay and they are being made available at dirt cheap prices compared to Brunei or here. The various good quality rods which are (some of them) made in Malaysia are Eupro, Sea Hawk, Lemax, Ajiking, G Loomis, Xzoga, Shimano, Daiwa etc. DO check it out whenever you are in Malaysia as there are lots of tackle shops. Ciao! |

I got something similar from Rapala, The X-Rap Jointed shad as per the link below. http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=x-rap_jointed _shad&freshorsalt=Fresh Never got to test it in sea water (yet) thus can't comment on it's effectiveness. Additionally haven't been doing any fresh-water fishing either. Ciao! |
