DOWN IN DULARGE"--High winds have shut down the trout fishing this week with all trips reschelduled in the next few weeks. Got a call yesterday from Louis Preisler of Austin, Tx. who wanted to stick some redfish. I knew we could bust up the reds in the ponds wind or no wind! Louis decided to make the long drive and he was glad he did! After locating the reds we caught our limits and more in short order. The morning started off slow as we didn't get a bite the first 1 1/2hrs. of fishing. I was surprised as we never go that long without a fish. Made a few moves, found the fish and by 9:30a.m. we were done! LSU BAYOU CHUBS tightlined along the edges of the ponds produced reds from 16-30in. Louis and I each caught a 10lb. red which were fun to land as I forgot my net in the other boat. Only had 1 lone trout that could not resist the chub to go along with our limit of redfish. The wind was most definitely kicking today but one can always find a good mess of reds if you work hard enough. Looking forward to Louis fishing with me again next week. Good luck on the water! Capt. BAYOU CHUB MINNOW DEADLY ON DULARGE TROUT! We're on a roll down here at the end of Hwy. 315 with some great spring-time trout fishing. Joe Price of Houma joined me today for some "trout scouting" and we found them starving for our LSU Chubs at our first stop. Busted them up quickly with 50 nice fish in the box by 8:30a.m. Our first 25 trout were caught on the very end of a falling tide with the remainder being caught on incoming water. We left'em biting to check out another area before heading back to the dock. Our second and third stops was pointless with low & dirty water. The fish were holding on the shell reefs in 3ft. of water. Special thanks to Joe for cleaning the catch and providing me with some fillets . Looks like we're in for a good spring run of fish. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

DULARGE TROUT FISHING ON FIRE----Found the yellow-mouths stacked up this morning and eating up everything in sight! Is this the beginning of a great spring run? I certainly hope so as we need to put an end to old man winter. Fishing with me today were Todd Savoie, Peggy Sanders, John Lee and Ron Hebert out of Baton Rouge. By 9:45a.m. the trout fishing was over with 107 fish in the box! The action was fast and furious for the first hour catching 71 trout tightlining the LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW. We had to make a couple more moves to get our remaining 36 fish. All of our fish were caught over shell reefs in 3 ft. of water. The crew declined my invitation to catch the big reds and decided to call it a day early to get back to town for the big fish fry this evening. Nice to get in early after putting in the long day yesterday! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---Started the morning off with very low water and dense fog all the way to the lakes. It was TROUT OR BUST today with my crew consisting of Bill Cox, Bob Watts, and Mike Uter of the Baton Rouge area. The guys are die-hard trout specialists and fish often with camps across Lake Decade and Pointe-Aux-Chenes. We found out first hand today that the trout are definitely on the move throughout lower Dularge. Covered a lot of water today searching for the yellow-mouths including Mud Lake, Lake Mechant, Sister Lake, Bay Moncleuse, Bayou Grand Caillou, and a few other locations. For the most part we found trout at most of our stops but no big numbers at any one location. Our best stop produced 25 nice fish right at the tide change early in the day. We worked hard picking at the fish all morning and ended our day with a respectable 68 trout in the 12-15in. range. LSU BAYOU CHUBS did most of the damage but the homemade BOBOLIZER caught its share of fish too. "Fish-Fry" suggested that Ike and the boys s"ould invest in the lure as a must-have for CCNF! (I won't go there) The fish are scattered and moving to different locations is the key to catching fish. Fishing the same areas you do in the fall months will produce fish from now through mid April. The water clarity was much improved today in the area lakes but still not quite how we like it. Sure was fun fishing with the guys as they were a great bunch to spend the day with! Back at it in the morning and will post reports. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712

Catch and release today "DOWN IN DULARGE" with Richard Rucker and his daughter Amanda of Somerville, Tn. WE HAD FUN TODAY!!! Not only was it a beautiful day to be on the water, the fishing was very good too. BIG REDS were on the agenda and we found all we wanted. Prior to today, Amanda's largest fish caught was a brim. Imagine her surprise when that first big redfish erupted on the surface. There was more to come as the father/daughter couple caught 25 plus fish before the morning was done. The big reds averaged 15-30lbs and were all caught on a slow falling tide. There were Blackdrum present too with plenty of good eaters in the 8lb. range. Sure was a pleasure fishing with Richard & Amanda and they will remember this trip for years to come. The water in most areas was still dirty but may clear up for tomorrow with less wind tonight. We'll be looking for trout tomorrow and will only catch the reds as a last resort. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

"DOWN IN DULARGE"----Windy, rough, dirty conditions equals no trout for us today. Andy Fazendin along with his favorite gal Elizabeth Baker from Minnesota didn't mind as they wanted big fish anyway! Spent the morning in Dularge's most famous pass chunking crabs trying to lure bull reds and drum. Although the action was slower than usual the couple enjoyed catching and releasing their share of fish. It was a beautiful day to get out except for the intense wind. There was 2-3 ft. seas in the pass and hardly enough current to get the big fish feeding. It was very rewarding that our last 4 drops before running out of bait resulted in 3 big fish with lots of picture taking! All and all, Elizabeth and Andy had a great time and were pleased with their south louisiana adventure. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

REDFISH-REDFISH-REDFISH-----They're EVERYWHERE as the duckponds are "red-hot" right now "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Phillip & Andrew Wiggins found out for themselves just how deadly the LSU BAYOU CHUBS can be on saltwater fish. We caught over 25 reds this morning by 10:00a.m. along with 2 drum and 8 trout for lagniappe. We tagged 10 beautiful reds in the 20-30in. range. Over the years I have tagged and released over 350 redfish and only had 1 recovered. This goes to show you how fast those reds will migrate to other ponds! The reds were blowing up on finger mullet in 2 ponds as the light north wind had them stacked on the south side of the ponds. Hope to jump on some trout later in the week. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

Picture perfect day for fishing today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Day 2 with the boys from north louisiana was as good as it gets in regards to catching redfish. The ponds were loaded with hungry reds as we caught every shape and size redfish imaginable. The reds averaged from 16in. to 31 in. with very few undersize fish. The water was clean and clear and not a ripple with calm winds. A sight fishermans dream today! We saw countless numbers of big reds in the shallows and watched them engulf the chubs. Capt. Ricky Brondum helped out today as we clobbered the reds! The final tally was 44 redfish, 24 trout, 2 blackdrum and 1 flounder. Every fish was caught on the LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW in 2-3ft. of water. This lure will do it all and your missing the boat if you don't give it a chance!! These guys were a lot of fun to fish with and they'll be back for more. Our 2 day total was 130 fish consisting of 72 redfish, 54 trout, 3 drum and 1 flounder. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

"DOWN IN DULARGE"--Boy what a windy day on the water! The SE winds were howling at daylight and it only got worse with winds gusting 20-25 the entire morning. Every now and then a 30kt. gust would nearly blow me off the bow of the big Kenner! Normally I don't fish in such conditions but I had a group of die-hards looking to catch fish. We decided on drifting(sailing)the duckponds and the guys hard work paid big dividends as we caught 28 trout, 1 blackdrum, and 18 redfish. Mostly everything was caught on the LSU BAYOU CHUB reeling with a steady retrieve. The guys only caught 3 reds on the gold spoon. Capt. Alex and his crew added another 10 reds and a few trout resulting in a nice catch for such brutal conditions. The crew was a blast to fish with as everyone had a great time. Fishing today were Jim Stewart, Tray Fredericks, Boo Cantrelle, Chip Berglund, Clifton Sandlin, Bruce Kelpe, Don Alexander, David Basinger, and David Bounds. We'll give it another shot in the morning and hope for less wind. Special thank" to Capt. Greg Yancey for helping out today with Rob Lyon and his crew. Rob treated his wife, mother and grandmother to a fishing trip. Rob said they had a great time catching 20lb. bull reds and some bull blackdrum. The women loved it and didn't let the stiff winds bother them. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge,

A very foggy morning "DOWN DULARGE"! A nice window to fish today and the trout fishing was excellent with the 63 degree water temperature. I was surprised myself as 75 very nice yellow-mouths were in the box by 9:30a.m. and the guys still had time to celebrate Mardi Gras in Houma. Jan Lirette and Bobby Domangue were lucky as this was the best catch of trout in the past month or so. All were in the 13-20in. range with a few 3lb. fish. Yes, everything on LSU CHUBS tightlined slow along the bottom on oyster reefs in Sister Lake area. Will try again tomorrow, weather permitting. Good luck fishing. Capt. "DOWN IN DULARGE"---Day 2 with Jim and Kim Hollon was another sucess with more great redfish action. We worked over the reds in the ponds this morning with the higher water levels enabling us to fish anywhere we wanted. The stiff NE wind lowered the water level quickly but the damage had already been done with a full box of reds. Textbook fishing today as all our fish were caught on the windy side of the ponds rather than the lee side. The guys caught reds at every stop for the first 3 hours as the bronze-backs were licking their chops for the LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW. Unlike yesterday, no really big fish today as the average was 17-24 in. The guys also had 5 trout and 1 flounder to add to our limits of reds. Another beautiful day in the marsh!! Good luck fishing. An overall slow day of fishing today "DOWN IN DULARGE". Mr. Jim Hollon of Alabama and his son Kim of Dallas, Tx. joined me today for a fun day on the water. Trout were scarce as we only found about a dozen for the box. Redfish made up the difference as we filled the box with some nice fish. Trolling the banks in Sister Lake and area duck-ponds, the big bronze-backs were eager to chomp down on our LSU BAYOU CHUBS. Heart-stopping action to say the least with 10-18lb. reds coming out of 2-3ft. of water! After reaching our limits and releasing a few we headed back to the ponds where the guys found reds in the 6-9lb. range. The reds wouldn't touch a spoon today but really ate up the chub offerings. The lakes had mostly clean water today but the bayous and canals were badly stained with cloudy water. It was a beautiful day to be on the water! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

BOXLOAD OF REDFISH again today! Redfish in all sizes from 3 -14lbs as the action was incredible again today. Fished a different area today out of Dulac(only 5 minutes from the boatlaunch) with James Tippins, Gerome Wiggins, and Nelson Beall. LSU and SPACE GUPPY BAYOU CHUBS did the trick as the big reds couldn't resist them. The guys released another 25-30 reds after we caught our 20 fish limit. Fishing drains out of the marsh was the key to success. Did not catch a single trout today with water temps at 51 degrees. We may have 1 or 2 more days of easy catching before the south winds return and raise the water levels. Looking for the trout to start-up again by the end of the week with the big warm-up this weekend. Another great day in the south louisiana marsh! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---All the redfish you want right now with the water at an all time low this morning. Really scary this morning as its been years since I've seen such low water levels. I saw ponds drained of all the water in areas that normally hold water this time of the year. Raccoons were scurring EVERYWHERE on the oyster laden reefs that normally are underwater. I don't ever recall kicking up mud in the prop wash all across Sister Lake! Dick Kessler of Colorado, Gill Gilchrist of Minnesota and Walter Voorhies of New Iberia never caught so many fish. After reaching our 20 fish limit the guys caught and released another 30-40 redfish! We left them biting on every cast! Idling a 50 yard stretch, we spooked no less than 80-100 big reds in only 2 ft. of water! They were running all around on both sides the boat----what a sight! Only 1 trout was caught this morning in the cold 48 degree water! The guys had a blast as it was sure great to have some good weather for a change. Tomorrow should be equally as good w"th low tide occuring in the early A.M. I'll post what we find. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La

No fishing today! Its been raining since before dawn this morning DOWN DULARGE. Sure wanted to get out and give those trout another opportunity to gobble up the LSU Chubs. Our yesterday evening 3 hour excursion was not very productive with only a dozen trout and 1 rat-red to show for our effort. We found nothing but off-colored water at our first location. Jumping over to Bayou Seveur accounted for most of our fish but the low 50's water temps had the trout sluggish. Made the best of the situation as it was a pretty afternoon to be on the water. The company was great too as I got to show a little bit of our Dularge area to Todd Masson, editor of the Sportsman. Really enjoyed the outing despite slow fishing and Todd had more than enough fillets for supper. The next few days look nasty and I hope to be back on the water for Saturday. Good luck fishing. Capt. Great redfish action today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Reds were everywhere today in the deeper ditches way back in the north Bayou Seveur marsh. Ryan Peters, Sam Wills and Burt Metz slammed the reds on Johnson gold spoons. After catching our limit of 20 reds we caught and released another dozen before heading back to the dock. Tried a few locations for trout and caught 23 on the LSU Chubs but they were scattered. Water temps were averaging 53-55 degrees and the trout were still a bit sluggish. Should be better the next few days with more sunshine to help warm them up. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712(new cell phone) Houma---Bayou Dularge, La.

A cold windy day on the water "DOWN IN DULARGE"! I knew it would not be good fishing right after the front and it turned out worse than I thought. James and Susan Mundy of northern New Mexico were in town and wanted to fish! Figured to catch some fish in the protected canals but 4 trout and an equal amount of redfish were all we could find. Really got desperate and resorted to soaking crabs-----not a bite! Despite having sunshine for a change it was still a raw and miserable day with 20mph winds, strong currents, dirty water and not many fish! Probably could have caught a mess of trout if we would have stuck to fishing the protected canals but water temps at 51 degrees always means a slow day. No surprise that we only saw 1 other fishing boat the entire morning. Good luck fishing!!! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 Houma---Bayou Dularge, La

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---Our Friday afternoon trip was a bust! My Friday morning trip was cancelled as the weather was a mess with lots of rain and wind. By noon all had cleared so I decided to jump in the boat for an evening trip with Cliff Lawrence and Mike Zambie. Our first stop quickly produced 3 trout and 1 keeper redfish. We didn't catch another fish the entire evening! The water was dirty in most all locations with a strong rising tide. It was not to be as we also had some troll motor problems. Sheared a prop pin and could not get the piece out of the shaft to fix it. Don't think it would have mattered as the fish were simply not going to bite. We'll get'em next time! Good luck fishing. Worked hard for the trout today "DOWN IN DULARGE". Stayed close to home today as we never made it to Sister Lake. My crew consisted of Bubba and Mike Brown, Sonny Oswalt, Reynold Minsky, and Parker Parra. They left their wives in New Orleans to shop and they hit the road to Dularge. The guys were a fun bunch to fish with as there was never a dull moment! Working the LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW slow along the bottom, the guys caught 82 trout and 3 redfish. We drifted the same area over and over (5 drifts) to fill the box with great eating yellow-mouths in the 12-15in. range. A good time was had by all.Good luck fishing. Capt. They are back-----hungry trout "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Fast and furious action today for Charles and Alice Thomas of Naples, Fla. The trout are warming up and they want to eat!! We fed'em LSU BAYOU CHUBS catching 68 nice fish in the 12-16in. range. Love that head-shake all the way to the boat! Our entire catch was caught on top the reefs with the sun high in the sky. Tomorrow should be just as good with warmer weather on tap. The water in the area lakes is the cleanest I've seen in months. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Good luck fishing! Capt. "DOWN IN DULARGE"----Not many fishermen down here right now!! Had the entire waterway to ourselves today with good trout action and outstanding redfish action. Water temps are still very cold and you have to work for the trout. No telling how many redfish we could have caught today on 1/2oz. gold spoons as we left them biting with double hook-ups! All the trout fell for the LSU BAYOU CHUB reeling very slow along the bottom. We ended the day with 30 trout(12-16in.) and 10 redfish----a great day for my out of state guest and I. It was great to get back on the water after the last 5 days off. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge, La

Big time fun today "DOWN IN DULARGE" as we ended the year with a bang! It was another great trout bite although the size was smaller today. Most of our catch consisted of 12-14in. trout as the LSU BAYOU CHUB worked to perfection as usual! Lots of laughs today with a great group of guys consisting of Carlton Johnson, James Blakeney, Cooney Richard, and Danny Thibodeaux of the Lafayette area. The crew busted up some fish today catching 175 plus trout to get our 125 fish limit. Cooney caught the lone redfish of the day which the hard core trout fishermen allowed him to keep after much consideration. Working the chubs slowly along the bottom in 8-10ft. of water was the key to success. A great time was had by all. Capt. Alex Gravois and his crew filled the box too with 75 trout. Happy new year everyone and good luck fishing in 2004. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Trout fishing on fire "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Another great day of fishing on the bayou with 160 trout between both boats. Special thanks to Capt. Alex Gravois for helping out with Bob Mooty and crew for their second day of fishing. They only fished a 1/2 day catching 60 nice trout. I fished with Dean, Mik, and Michael Fanguy of Houma along with Victor Chui Lung. The guys had a blast catching 100 trout all morning long tightlining LSU BAYOU CHUBS along the bottom. The fish averaged 12-16in. just right for the deep fry! This has been the best December for trout fishing in years! You don't even need a boat as plenty trout are being caught right from the roadside! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---Certainly not the best looking day to fish as we postponed our morning trips to P.M. trips. We left the dock at 1:00p.m. after the heavy rain moved on out to the east. Fishing with me today were John Bell, Frank Domangue and Phillip Moore. Capt. Alex Gravois helped out with Bob Mooty and his crew from Texas. We fished in the rain for a few hours and stiff north winds by afternoon. It was very slow going until very late in the day when the trout decided to open their mouths. Capt. Alex and I finished up with a combined catch of 70 trout. Everything was caught on LSU or black/chartreuse Bayou Chubs tightlined along the bottom. Tomorrow should be a better day! Good luck fishing. A very early morning bite today "DOWN IN DULARGE" !!! If you didn't get out early you probably missed the great action on trout! Fishing today with Jerry McCullion and Gerald Belanger the trout fishing couldn't have been better for the first 90 minutes. The morning bite produced 44 yellow-mouths and we only caught another 20 trout by 1:00p.m. Add in 3 redfish, one of which was a 30lb. 36in. brute that nailed the LSU Bayou Chub, and it was a successful day. The trout averaged 12-16in. and were all caught on the LSU Chubs tightlined along shell bottoms. The current was really strong again today with the 2.8 tide range and the trout were hard to find. The majority of the trout were caught early as the tide started to roll out. Capt. Alex had 65 trout when I came in at 1:30p.m. and he finished up his 100 fish limit after the tide change later in the day. He reported leaving them SMOKIN on the rising tide around 4:00p.m. so I know Ike must have got his limit! Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 98A-226-2592

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---A cool and breezy day on the bayou! Never warmed up south of Houma Bob Breck! The trout didn't seem to mind the cold as we filled the big Kenner with 96 yellow-mouths(12-16in.) and 2 reds. I had a great crew today consisting of Jason Stanton, 11yr. old Mason Archer, Mitch(I love LSU) Willbanks and Larry "Frog" Young. The fish were finicky today as the stiff wind along with the strong tide resulted in a hard days work. The guys prevailed and were rewarded with a very nice catch! LSU Bayou Chubs tightlined slowly across the oyster laden bottom did the trick. Set a record today for lost jig-heads as those oysters will reach up and grab'em when you're not looking. Sure was fun with the guys today! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Trout bite still going strong in Dularge! Another nice box of trout for Jules Myles, Ben David, Kathy David and Wilson Peterman of New Orleans. Finished up with our 100 trout by noon in Lake Decade. Drifting the lake tightlining LSU Bayou Chubs was the ticket! Couldn't leave on vacation without busting them one more time! The crew was a blast to fish with! Good luck fishing and happy holidays! TROUT SLAM "DOWN IN DULARGE" !!! Today got off to a very slow start for Mike Salassi, Robert Spears and Mike Frady. Our first hour of fishing only produced a single trout and redfish! Fishing various locations we found very low water and finicky reds. Reds were present in all locations but they wouldn't open their mouths. Yes, they were spooky and cold and wanted nothing to do with our offerings. Finally persuaded a few to bite around 9:00a.m. as we found 9 good reds and over 25 rat-reds under the 16in. mark. Around 11:00a.m. the tide changed and started coming in hard. Thats when the trout-slam began with doubles and triples coming in the boat on almost every cast! Our first 30 fish were caught tightlining LSU Chubs. Our remaining 70 trout were all caught over oyster reefs with a split-tail beetle 18in. under a cork and tightlining the Space Guppie Bayou Chub. Finished up around 1:30p.m. with a full box--100 yellow-mouths and 9 redfish. The guys came to fish and the slow start finished with a fast and furioTs bite! Sure was a good time spent with this crew and they'll be back for more! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Cold boat ride this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Our red hot "catching" of speckled trout was cooled down today by cold water temps resulting in a mere 24 trout. Redfish took up the slack for David Young, Chip Desonier and Richard Gast. We caught well over 40 reds keeping our 20 fish limit. The trout averaged 12-18in. while the reds were all sizes from 16-27in. LSU BAYOU CHUBS worked well for both species with a slow retrieve along the bottom rigged on a 1/4oz. jighead. Not many folks out today as we only saw 3 other boats. The guys were a lot of fun to fish with today. The water is low so be careful out there! Good luck fishing. Capt. Fishing gets better and better each day "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Another big trout slam this morning for Colby Buller, Michael Songy, Lance Byrd, and Tommy "The Hawk" Lake. The boys busted the fish up quickly as we caught 125 trout and 2 redfish in short order. The LSU Bayou Chub was the ticket as the fish savagely attacked the plastic!! Tightlining the chubs in 2-3ft. of water is the technique that works best. No 25 inchers to throw back down here. Just good eating 13-18in. fish and we got plenty of them right now! It don't get much easier to load the boat with fish than its been the past few weeks. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

DOWN IN DULARGE"--Outstanding speckled trout action again this morning for Rob Radtke & Big Al Ruiz of Morgan City, La. We got off to a slow start only catching 19 trout at our first stop. Fishing approx. 5 different locations the guys picked up fish at every stop. Our fourth stop was the mother-load as we caught 40 fish with non-stop action. Everything ran 12-15in. today with only a few throw-backs. LSU CHUBS had the yellow-mouths in a frenzy as we caught them on nearly every cast tightlining along the bottom. We finished up for 10:45 with our 75 fish limit. Called it a day around noon with an additional 6 reds and 1 flounder for lagniappe as the rain chased us back to the dock. Plenty of numbers right now with good concentrations of trout in the lakes, bays and bayous throughout the lower Dularge area. Good luck fishing. Capt. HUNGRY YELLOW-MOUTH TROUT INVADE DULARGE! Triple digits today for Mike Hamilton, David "Cuz" Hamilton, and Stuart Primeaux of the Lafayette area. We found fast and furious action at our first stop of the morning catching 82 trout in only 3ft. of water. Finished up with our 100 fish limit(and 1 big red) at the second stop on a shell bank and left the fish biting!! Most of the trout averaged 14-16in. with a few 18in. fish. LSU BAYOU CHUBS reeling with a slow-steady retrieve works every time as the trout really love'em! I will admit that the guys did catch a few fish on the Dudley after the bite slowed down. We found the water temps around 58 degrees and the fish were eating up big time today. Glad to have the seasoned crew today as they put the hurt on the trout. Forgetting the net today cost us a near 5lb. trout as the big gal threw the hook right at the boat. I will have the net tomorrow! Todays action was as good as it gets---very good fishing and great company!! Get ready RR!!Good luck fishing. Capt. BiHl Lake

Another nice box of trout "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Enjoyed the trout slam with Pete & Peggy Wilson of Shreveport, La. Final tally was 44 fish---all courtesy of the black/chartreuse BAYOU CHUB MINNOW tightlined with a medium retrieve. The bite started off slower than the past few days but really heated up with the rising tide. The trout were located at both our stops in 2-3ft. of water and mixed in with some nice reds. A total of 7 redfish in the 8-15lb. range were released to fight another day while keeping 4 smaller fish. Highlight of the day was wrestling with a stubborn pelican who tried to pick off our trout as we were reeling them in to the boat! We even tried leaving the scene only to have it follow us by flying behind the boat! Talk about determined and too lazy to find his own meal. Eventually the big bird gave up and we fished without interruption the remainder of the day. Taking the weekend off ( I hope) and will get back to fishing early next week. Good luck fishing. Capt. "DOWN IN DULARGE"--A foggy start this morning as we didn't leave the dock until 6:45a.m. A beautiful morning after the fog lifted with calm winds and pretty water. Gnats were a slight problem but very tolerable when catching fish on every cast! Made the first cast at 7:20a.m. with Jim Hollon and guest. It was fast & furious action as the trout were boiling on the suface!! 35 trout were in the box quickly before the bite tapered off. LSU BAYOU CHUBS tightlined slowly was the ticket. Switched to various colors (ran out of LSU) and found the bite was slower except for the black/chartreuse which held its own. Some fish were on the bottom but most were suspended 2-3ft. below the surface. Finished up shortly before 10:30 with our 75 trout, 1 red and 1 flounder. Loads of fish were caught today as I had reports from 6 other boats with full limits in Sister Lake, Mechant and Decade. Hope you got out and caught your share as its all downhill starting tomorrow!! I've reschelduled the next 3 days and hope to crank it up again on Monday. The past 5 days of fishing has been exceptional and this type of action will continue right on through December. Good luck fishing. Houma/Bayou Dularge

Best day yet! Simply incredible trout fishing right now "DOWN IN DULARGE"! An action packed day of fishing for Jim Hollon of Alabama. We had 50 fat trout in the box in a little over an hour of fishing! LSU CHUBS and TOP DOGS had the fish in a frenzy. The warmer weather has the trout eating up like no tomorrow! Hooked up with the redfish afterwards on gold spoons as the bronze-backs were blowing up on mullets. Never have I witnessed so much action as we did today!! The reds were slamming everything in sight in the ditches and massive schools of trout were boiling the water on the surface chasing small minnows. Mr. Jim has never seen anything like it! We'll be back at it in the morning as neither of us will get much sleep tonight anticipating a repeat tomorrow. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Another good trout slam this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Fishing until 9:15a.m., Gerard Dicks & Greg Howell of St. Johns, Newfoundland Canada got what they came for! The guys had no problem catching their 50 trout on the LSU BAYOU CHUBS. A slow retrieve on the bottom in 3 ft. of water did the trick! The yellow-mouths were doing their head-shake all the way to the boat! Hope to keep it rolling all week long! Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

REDFISH/TROUT ACTION GOING STRONG "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Worked over the reds and trout again today with Mike Denson & James "Jim" Brent of Nashville, Tn. The trout came easy once again with 70 yellow-mouths on the LSU CHUBS. Worked hard for the redfish and ended up with the box filled with big redfish! Gold spoons did the damage as the reds turned up their nose to the chubs today. The guys left town with plenty fillets and some sore arms---145 trout and 30 reds for their 2 day total. Mike & Jim picked 2 beautiful days to spend in the south louisiana marsh! I look forward to their return. I'll post the great looking photo's tomorrow. Good luck fishing. Capt. Big time fun today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Speckled trout/redfish action as good as it gets!! Mike Denson from Nashville, Tn. is back for his annual trip along with his friend James. We found the yellow-mouths stacked up and hungry at our first stop catching 68 nice fish by 8:00a.m. The trout were slamming the LSU BAYOU CHUBS in 3ft. of water reeling with a slow retrieve. Afterwards it was off to find the reds and our next few locations produced 7-8 big redfish as we found them schooling along the shorelines of shallow ponds. Gold spoons along with the chubs did the damage. The action really heated up later in the afternoon with loads of redfish in the ditches. We spooked 3 times as many fish as we caught! The low tide had the reds concentrated in the slightly deeper water and they jumped all over our LSU CHUB offerings! We ended the day with 75 trout and 15 redfish----another very good day of fishing the DU! Mike and James were a pleasure to fish with and looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow. ---Special thanks to CBpt. Alex Gravois for helping out with Walter Voorhies and his family in the second boat. They put together a nice box of fish too and had a great time doing it! Good luck fishing. Capt. A beautiful day yesterday "DOWN IN DULARGE" as the first 2 hours was calm but the water level was much lower than Friday. Thought we could put a slam on the trout early before the wind picked up but it was not to be. Fishing 4 different areas we only picked up a few trout at each location. Fishing with me were Joe and Tracey Rawls along with Jordan Geatreau of Gonzales, La. A terrific crew and they worked hard for their catch! Fishing strictly the LSU BAYOU CHUB we picked up 31 trout and 8 big redfish. Later we would catch another big redfish by Jordan and a few blackdrum and Dularge Snapper on crab. Our highlight of the day was catching redfish in the 14-25lb. range on the chubs in only 2-3ft. of water! We hooked up with approx. 8-10 of the big brutes on light tackle as they were feeding on a shallow flat. The wind was really howling out of the SE making trout fishing in the open water impossible. We called it a day at 1:45p.m. with a good box of fish to show for our efforts. Good luck fishing! |

Short report---------Plenty of action today "DOWN IN DULARGE" as a smorgasbord of fish were caught! Dave Truxillo,Phil Cooper & Gary Zeringue of RPC Energy put a slam on the trout catching their 75 fish limits plus some very nice redfish. Capt. Alex Gravois and his crew teamed up for a big catch of 125 trout! Long live the BAYOU CHUB MINNOW.!!! Electric chicken and the LSU is the colors they wanted! In addition to all the trout, the Richard Mills crew along with Jackie, Lawrence, Cindy and Lawrence caught all the big redfish they could stand in the 12-25lb. range! Loads of blackdrum and Dularge Snapper were caught as lagniappe! Over 375 total fish caught by noon today! Houma/Bayou Dularge

Big time fun for Whit Kellam and his crew with his first trip "DOWN IN DULARGE"! They were looking for plenty of action and found it! Redfish, blackdrum, trout and sheepshead kept the crew busy all morning. Fishing with me were Whit, Robert, Tony & Becky of Baton Rouge. A second boat consisting of Robert, Rich, Kenny and Randall fished with Capt. Greg Yancey who was helping out with the big crew. The 2 boats combined for nearly 100 total fish!!! A great time was had by all. Everything except the trout was caught on carolina rigged crab on the bottom. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

"DOWN IN DULARGE"----A perfect morning for opening day of duck season! A drab morning to say the least with gray skies and too much wind to trout fish. Joining me today were Richard Borne, Monroe Howell, James Rivers, and Scott Sharpe. We began our morning with Richard catching a nice 28in. redfish on the first cast and jinxing us the remainder of the day! Although the redfish eluded us on this day the blackdrum gave the guys all they could handle as we fished 3 locations to fill the box. Got a nice surprise around noon as the wind gave us a break and the guys jumped on some nice trout after we finished the BLACKDRUM DERBY! The LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW was the lure of choice and the crew added another 30 trout to the big 150Qt. We left the trout biting to head in as one of the guys had to catch a plane. No doubt in my mind that we could have caught much more trout if we could have had another hour to fish. This crew was a fun bunch to fish with----lots of laughs and a great time was had by all. Good luck fishin". Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Another fun day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE"!! Day 2 for Doug Wahlsten, John Crabbe and their friend Gordon from Iowa. The guys started off bottom fishing catching 40-50 fish in a couple hours with a mixture of reds and black drum. Most were caught and released except for a few we brought in to the fish cleaner. Found some nice trout on the way in catching them on the LSU chubs. We hit 3 locations and found fish in 2 of the 3 areas. Met up with Coogan Ryan(Top Dog Specialist) who had a very explosive morning with the trout crashing the dogs! I know he was happy! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

DOWN IN DULARGE"---Big numbers of fish today for John Crabbe of Portland, Oregon and Doug Wahlsten of Canada. Big south louisiana redfish was on their mind and they got all they could handle with the bronze bruisers! Amazing is how the guys described our fishery as the first 5 fish in the boat was big reds! Doug left home with -19 degrees on the thermometer and really enjoyed the 80 degree weather here. After the bottom fishing feast and catching/releasing approx. 35-40 reds and drum they were introduced to the BAYOU CHUB MINNOW. Yes, we spanked the trout in Sister Lake and clobbered the nice rat-reds in the duckponds as the big 150Qt. was filled to the brim. The LSU chub was on fire today! After seeing 1000 gadwalls in the ponds 4 days ago there were none to be found today. We only saw 3 mottled ducks and a flock of Do-Gris during our 2 hour marsh tour. Really enjoyed fishing with Doug and John and they'll no doubt have plenty to talk about at their conference in New Orleans Thursday . Good luck fishing. " Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

Paul DeHoff and Mike Pumphrey says they didn't have to go to Venice to catch big redfish. We got plenty "DOWN IN DULARGE" as the reds were on the prowl today. Easy limits for everyone in both boats!! I fished with Glen Bush, Mike Pumphrey, Paul DeHoff and Kevin Macumber for Day 2 while Capt. Ricky fished with Joe Bigler, Kenneth Porche and Ben Clement. Both boats combined for over 70 fish again today as the big reds and blackdrum ate up everything in sight! The drags were screaming all morning as the action could not have been any better. The wind hampered the trout fishing again and we aborted the mission after an hour of poor fishing in the fog. We'll get back on the trout when the weather straightens out. Good luck fishing. Capt. All good things come to an end and so did our great trout fishing as it was a blowout "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Too much east winds today to be successful on the reefs. Glen Bush/Mike Pumphrey and the gang from Mississippi took care of business as usual with loads of redfish and blackdrum. Capt. Ricky Brondum helped out today as both boats easily limited out with non-stop action the entire morning. We brought in 60-70 fish to be cleaned including redfish, blackdrum, sheepshead, trout and white trout. Yes an old fashioned meat haul for the boys! A great time was had by all. Good luck fishing. "DOWN IN DULARGE"--Another very good day on the water for Walter Voorhies and his crew consisting of Dan, Josh and Tommy Nordland. It was a tough decision for the guys to start off trout fishing or tackle the big redfish and drum. They opted for the big fish but the hard falling tide made it tough to keep the bait on the bottom. They caught 6 huge 35-40lb. blackdrum and 3 puppy's in the first hour of fishing. We decided to give the trout a quick try and put 25-30 quick fish in the box on SPECK-TACULARS before the wind got too bad to continue. Returning to the honey-hole was a huge success as the guys abused 5 doz. crabs catching bull reds and blackdrum till we ran out of bait. We were down to using just the crab legs and catching fish on every cast! Finished up just past the noon hour with the 150Qt. jam packed to the top. The guys easily caught near 100 total fish and they're already planning 2 more trips next month! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

A fog bound start this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! After slowly picking our way along Lil Bayou Dularge we finally made it to the promise land. Yes, the yellow-mouths were waiting as it was another TROUT SLAM!! The crew of Brandt Billbo, Shannon Devall and Scott Yarbrough had no problem catching their limits with 100 trout, 2 reds and 1 flounder by 11:00a.m. between the 4 of us. It was truly a "SPECK-TACULAR" morning as the fish surprisingly turned their nose up to our "chub" offering and that does not happen often. The fish only wanted that shrimp under the cork today and thats just the way it was! The trout averaged 12-16in. with not many throw-backs today! Trout fishing has been excellent all week with an increase in numbers as well as size. Really a fun day with this crew and I know they'll be back for more. Good luck fishing. Capt. Excellent "catching" today "DOWN IN DULARGE" dispite the breezy conditions. Departing from Dulac, my crew of Franklin Ray, Connie & Sterling Butler and Jay Landry were charged and ready to go. Our first couple stops were very productive with 15-16in. trout. After putting 45 trout in the box the action slowed. We then worked a few flocks of gulls catching 25 additional 12-13in. trout. We finished up our 100 fish limit eventually with everything being caught on LSU and Black/Chartreuse Bayou Chubs along with Rattlin Chubs and Speck-Taculars. Afterwards we stopped a crabber for a couple doz. crabs to try the bull reds. Our first 2 stops produced blackdrum but no reds. Finally found the bull reds at our third location as everyone caught their limits. The live crabs did the trick and also caught a big surprise-----a 70-80lb. SEA TURTLE!! Talk about put up a fight! Surprise, surprise as they like crabs too! The big boy was released unharmed after approx. a 30 minute battle on light tackle. Everyone had a great time as it was another great day in paradise! A very good day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" with lots of trout & redfish action! Only had to make 3 stops to catch our fish today as the action started off strong this morning. Fishing with me today from Lafayette, La. were Dr. Kirk Smith, Carlton Johnson and Mark Lewis. Yes we missed you James as you passed up a good time! Black & purple Bayou Chubs along with Speck-Taculars filled the box with a tally of 77 trout and 10 redfish. Surprising not to have hardly any throw-backs with the trout as they averaged 12-16in. Our second stop of the morning resulted in double and triple hook-ups with the reds gobbling up the "chubs" on a steady retrieve. Afterwards is was back to trout fishing as Mark wanted those redfish but was outnumbered by the trout fishermen in the boat. It was a real pleasure to fish with the guys as they couldn't have picked a better day. Looking forward to jumping on the fish again in the morning. Good luck fishing! Houma/Bayou Dularge

A smorgasbord of fish again today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Got a late start not leaving the dock until 7:45a.m. due to some license problems and a miscommunication issue. Fishing with me today were Jerry Jones of Nashville, Tn, Tom Elliot of St. Louis, Mo., and Todd Fuller of Ponchatoula, La. The guys weren't really interested in trout as they wanted to tackle the big redfish. Tom started off the action as the first fish in the boat was a 30lb. redfish followed by countless numbers of others gobbling up the fresh crab. Withthin an hour the big 150Qt. box was full and it was off to search for the yellowmouths. We found the trout fishing to be slow for about the first hour only catching a dozen keepers. Around 1:00p.m. we found them stacked up and the guys had good action for approx. 45 minutes. The only lure they would touch was the Speck-Tacular! Finished up the day with over 70 total fish caught including redfish, trout, blackdrum and a few Dularge snapper. A great time was had by all as it was a beautiful day to Ao fishing. Capt. Catch what you can on a windy day like today and thats exactly what we did "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Danny & Cindy Lofton and Jackie Buckles & Lawrence drove in from Ms. to catch fish. Big redfish and puppy drum kept the crew busy all morning with non-stop action! Lawrence caught the largest fish with a 37lb. red. The crew had a blast reeling in fish one after the other filling the big 150Qt. to the brim. Carolina rigged crab did the trick! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

Caught a little of everything this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Redfish, speckled trout, flounder, blackdrum and sheepshead all found the LSU BAYOU CHUB too good of a meal to pass up! It was a good time on the bayou spent with Craig Haydell, Tres Jumonville and Keith Leblanc of Lafayette and New Roads, La. After the first 2 hours of fishing things really slowed down for us as we were looking for more trout than the 35 fish we caught today. Redfish and others took up the slack to round out a good box of fish. Maybe I'll give the ole blueclaw crab a try in the morning as my group from Ms. would love to jump all over the bull reds! Hold on to your hat tomorrow as its sure to blow hard out the north. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

DOWN IN DULARGE"------Started off with motor problems this morning as the big Yamaha had its first break-down in 3 1/2 years. Limped out as far as Bayou Seveur and thats where we would spend the next 4 hours fishing. John and Debbie Lahaye were great sports and fished hard for a nice box of fish. Working shell reefs mostly with the LSU BAYOU CHUBS and Speck-Taculars, 15 trout, 8 reds,1 flounder and 1 blackdrum was the final tally. We cut our full day down to a half day trip not knowing how much of a problem it would be returning to the launch. Turned out ok as we got back faster than anticipated. Special thanks to Southern Outdoors and Marine located in Thibodaux for the quick service as I was in and out in an hour. Alex Gravois expertly diagnosed the problem as worn out fuel pumps were the culprit. Back at it in the morning--weather permitting! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

"DOWN IN DULARGE"---Jeff & John Stevens from Texas with two nice 14lb. redfish. It was a pleasure to fish with such 2 good fishermen. Found the "catching" on the slow side this morning for the guys 1/2 day trip. The three of us worked hard for our catch of 25 trout, 7 redfish and 1 blackdrum. Conditions were great but the fish didn't respond like the past few days. LSU Bayou Chubs was the most productive lure today. The trout seem to have scattered with the warm weather and high water level--- certainly not concentrated like they were after the last front. An absence of baitfish and moving water hurt us today. Not much tide the next few days but we'll be beating the banks in search of reds and trout just the same! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592

Plenty of great action this morning for these two SPECKLED TROUT SPECIALISTS(See photo)--where else but "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Got a late start as the fog was a big problem for us running from Cocodrie to lower Dularge. Didn't make the first cast until 8:15a.m. and we only had to 11:00a.m. to fill the box as that was our designated quitting time to head back to Camp Boudreaux. Timmy "Speckeye" Barrilleaux of Thibodaux and Emmett "Yellow-Mouth" Boudreaux of Baton Rouge wasted no time jumping on the fish as our first 3 stops produced a flurry of specks and reds. When the smoke cleared from all the BS stories (and there was a lot of that) the deadly duo put together a nice box of fish with 4 big redfish and catching approx. 50 trout with 35 keepers in the 12-15in. range. No limits but not a bad count for only 3 hours of fishing. Lots of laughs today and everyone had a great time as it was a beautiful morning to fish. Good luck fishing! Houma/Bayou Dularge

Persistance and patience paid off yesterday for my crew and I "DOWN IN DULARGE"! We started the day off chasing the redfish but we found them not very responsive to our offerings of Bayou Chubs, Spot-Removers and gold spoons. The crew of Lawrence Hebert, Bill Meyer and his friend Gary never lost confidence and continued to fish hard. Our first 2 hours of fishing only produced a 29 in. redfish and a few trout. Sticking with the plan and making several moves produced several more nice reds and a few more trout. Bill eventually pulled out his secret weapon, a pumpkin-seed paddle-tail grub. It made a difference as Bill was conducting a clinic on the back of the boat catching fish at a 4-1 ratio over everyone else! Could have been Bill's slower retrieve with the grub that prompted more strikes. The LSU chub held its own as our entire catch resulted in using these two lures only. We ended the day with a nice box of fish including 1 big flounder, 21 trout and approx. a dozen redfish. Most of the fish were caught in Phe Bay Charlie area. Really a fun day with this crew!***************Todays action was bottom fishing only as the wind was relentless with the front passing through last night. Fished with Becky and Chris Stromeyer and the couple had a blast catching blackdrum, sheepshead and a couple redfish. Most were released to fight another day. Good luck fishing. Capt. All the redfish you want right now "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Plenty of big reds in the deep pass or smaller reds in the ponds---take your pick as the fishing is on fire right now! Plenty of trout for the taking too on the calmer days. Great action early this morning as Jim and Shayne Lowery had a blast catching reds and a few trout. Breezy out the NE and rough in the open water kept us in protected waters today. 15 redfish, 9 trout and 2 flounder was the final tally today as the LSU Bayou Chub continues its magic. Hope to get back out after the trout if the wind gives us a break tomorrow. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-226-2592 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Gave the trout a break today as it was REDFISH HEAVEN this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Easy limits of 20-27in. reds as we found them stacked up and hungry! Charlie Gramml of Houston,Tx. was back in town with another fresh crew including Jeff Little and Winn Carter. Hooking up with nearly 40 reds we kept our 20 fish limit and released(many not intentional)the remainder. At 9:30 with the count at 18 fish in the box we were figuring another few casts would get the limit. WRONG--as the next 7 reds got off the hook before we could get them to the boat. All were big fish in the 25-27in. range! Charlie made the mistake of laying down his rod for a few minutes and the combo shot out of the boat like a rocket as a big red took his lure while we were drifting a small cove. Our attempt to recover the rod/reel was futile as Mr Redfish won that battle! He said our south louisiana reds were a lot meaner than those Texas redfish. We eventually got our limit and finished up by 10:30a.m. Our entire catch was caught on SpotGRemover inline spinners with the LSU Bayou Chub as a trailer. Those redfish really slammed the lures hard and put on a show in 2-3ft. of water. Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow as the guys are charged up and ready to go! Good luck fishing. Capt. Great day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" for Day 2 with Charlie Gramml, Jeff Little and Winn Carter from Houston, Tx. Started with the reds bright and early right where we left them yesterday. No tide movement and very slow action resulted in only 5 fish in the box. Decided to target trout as Winn's wife called and said don't come home unless you have some trout!! Off we went and found them stacked up and hungry for our LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOWS! It was fast and furious for a short period with fish in the 2lb. range. The guys quickly boxed 35 nice trout before the bite fell off. Back to the reds as we worked hard catching a total of 15 reds for the day. Headed in with a full box of fish including 35 trout, 15 reds, 1 blackdrum and 1 big flounder. The reds would not touch the gold blades like they did yesterday as everyfish caught today was taken on the LSU CHUBS reeling with a steady retrieve. Really enjoyed 2 days of excellent fishing with the well seasoned crew. I'll be back with the redfish in the morning and Gill post what we find. Good luck fishing! Capt. "DOWN IN DULARGE"---More good fishing for Capt. Ricky Brondum and I this morning as we spent a beautiful morning combing the duckponds. Although the "catching" was a bit slower today we found lots of good eating redfish and back at the dock by 10:00a.m.! Hooked up with 18-20 fish in the 2 1/2hrs we fished and had our 10 keepers in the box by 9:30a.m. Capt. Ricky put on a topwater show early (attempting to outdo the chub) until a big bronze-back made off with his "top-dog"! So sad!! Everything else was caught on the LSU BAYOU CHUB MINNOW reeling with a steady retrieve in 3 ft. of water. Yes, Capt. Ricky had to finally switch over(begging me for those purple tails) as the pressure was too great. Plenty reds are in the 16-18in. slot, the best for frying! Nice to get in early and beat the heat! The search for the bronze-backs will continue the rest of the week and should be some fast action. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 Houma/Bayou Dularge

DOWN IN DULARGE"-----All the redfish & blackdrum one can stand this morning! After getting clobbered early-on by one heavy rainstorm the remainder of the morning was nice and calm. Gary Parker/David New Drilling and his crew caught fish all morning and filled up everything in both boats. Easy limits of big reds were caught in 30ft. of water on crab along with 35 blackdrum in the 7-10lb. range! Special thanks to "Capt. Robalo Bob" for helping out with the guys today. "BRONZE-BACK BASHERS" from New Orleans put a whipping on the big reds "DOWN IN DULARGE" this morning. Beautiful weather today and clean water had the bulls eating up dispite getting a late start. Fishing with me today were Roger & Ryan LaCoste, Carl Gigoux, and Daniel Morrill. Missing the first hour of daylight didn't make much of a difference as the guys enjoyed a great hour long bite with the bronze bruisers. When we arrived we found the reds on the surface exploding on pogies all around the boat. Non-stop hook-ups shortly followed with plenty of action for all! Double and triple hook-ups was the norm this morning. Afterwards we made 1 unsuccessful stop for trout. Our last stop was non-stop Blackdrum action as the guys quickly added another dozen fish to the box before running out of crab. The guys were a fun crew to spend the morning with down the bayou!! No escaping the rain today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Never left the coastline today as we found all the fish we needed for a sucessful day. Fished with Dave Sands, Patrick Como and Les Newsome, the guys had a ball reeling in speckled trout and bull redfish!! The bull reds were "on" as the guys caught 18 big fish in a little over an hour.(All were released) 37 nice trout were released in the 102 Qt. as they fell for live croakers and the LSU Bayou Chubs. Saw some really nice rat-reds back at the launch that were caught on gold spoons. Kenny, a good friend of mine said he couldn't keep the spoon in the water this morning without getting a strike! He and his buddies caught their 20 fish limits by 10:00a.m. All this action only 15 minutes from the launch----Dularge is on fire-----come on down and get your share!! Good luck fishing. Capt. "DOWN IN DULARGE"--Late report from Thursday. Fished with a great group of guys from the Morgan City area. Good fun and lots of laughs as we worked over the inland duck ponds with gold spoons and bayou chubs. The morning started with a bang as the first 30 minutes produced 4 nice reds on the spoons. The crew worked hard only catching another 2 fish by 9:30a.m. The water was high in the ponds but no water movement to speak of had the reds in the "lockjaw" mode. We had to resort to bottom fishing with crab as the guys caught a box full of blackdrum and another nice redfish before calling it a day around 1:00p.m. Sure was a pleasure fishing with the guys!! A big trout surprise yesterday "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Got to do some wade fishing with Walter Phelps and Stephen Goodman of Alexandria, La. The guys have a camp in Dularge and are learning the area slowly but safely. After running their boat up on a sandbar a few weeks ago they decided to give me a call to show them around. Only made 2 stops and fell into some really nice fish at both locations. No limits but 52 trout(2 over 5lbs) were caught on fresh cut mullet. We did catch a few fish at our first stop on the Rattlin Chubs and Speck Taculars but nowhere near the size as the mullet produced. Will have to give this a try again later this week! A beautiful morning to fish "DOWN IN DULARGE"! The first couple of hours was as good as it gets with cool conditions, no wind or rain and hungry fish. Bob Okrzesik of Kingwood, Tx. along with his 2 sons Mick & Alex drove in to tackle the bronze-backs. The guys had a steady bite for the first hour with numerous hook-ups----plenty of action to keep the guys busy! The weather eventually ran us back in but not before a fun filled morning was had by the trio. The guys used up the remaining crabs pulling in blackdrum and a few more reds after we retreated to the inside waters. They filled the box with a dozen in the 6-8lb. range to go along with the bulls. The rain eventually closed in on us so we called it a day at 11:00a.m. Anyone looking to tackle the big reds, now is the time!! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 Houma/Bayou Dularge

Subject: Slamming the Trout in Dularge!
Excellent weather this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE" made for some good trout fishing off the coast. It was great to fish with Neil Shows and his crew from Mississippi as they wanted to get in on the trout action. The action started off fast and furious as we quickly put 40 trout in the box. The remainder of the day was slow with hardly any tide movement to keep the fish going. We fished many locations today picking up fish at every stop but no concentrations were found after the early morning bite! Everyone had a great time as we eventually filled the box with 86 trout, 12 redfish and 1 Blackdrum. The reds were caught on live minnows and the trout were mostly caught on tantem rigged avocado Bayou Chubs. The largest red was 8lbs and the largest trout was 25 in. Young 13 yr. old Derrick made his first saltwater trip in the gulf and he liked what he saw! I look forward to Neil coming back to fish in the future. ******Special thanks to Capts. Alex Gravois and Ricky Brondum for helping out today. Capt. Alex fished with Joe Courville and his crew from New Iberia. They had a very good day catching 70 trout on live minnows. Capt. Ricky fished Ronnie Book and his crew for their second day. They wanted to tangle with the Blackdrum and they had no problem filling up the box with a few trout for lagniappe. The "Dularge Groupers" were caught on carolina rigged cracked crab on the bottom as usual. We'll be running 3 boats again tomorrow and will post what we find! Good luck fishing! Capt. A nasty morning "DOWN IN DULARGE" as the weather was less than perfect for trout fishing. We had squalls popping up all around us but we were lucky not to get wet. Fishing with Ronnie Book and his crew from Catahoula parish we made it out to the rigs as the wind was not bad except in areas where the squalls were brewing. The water was dirty and we only found a dozen trout before retreating to the inside waters. The guys caught 10 nice redfish on the "Spot Remover" right before the peak of the high tide. All of the reds were caught on top of oyster beds in 2 ft. of water. Afterwards they wanted to do some bottom fishing and they had no problem catching 30 blackdrum in the 6-8lb. range! We called it a day at 2:00p.m. with a full box of fish. The guys are always a fun group to fish with and they can't wait to get back on the water tomorrow! Hopefully we can jump back on the trout tomorrow. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Great Trout Fishing
Non-stop trout action continues "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with Peter LeBlanc, Tim Staples, Lanny Toups and Leroy Butler. Our first stop produced 30 trout on tantem rigged avocado Bayou Chubs. We finished up at our second stop catching 70 very nice yellow-mouths in the 18-23in. range!!! 100 total fish by 9:30a.m.!! Live bait was the ticket at the second stop and what a slam-a-rama it was as all 4 guys were hooked up on every cast for an hour. There were 6 fish over 4lbs and 25-30 over the 3lb. mark! The crew will be back in 2 weeks for more of this great action.*********Fishing with me today were Wade and Miki Key from Lafayette and it was more big trout action! We found the fishing to be a little slower than yesterday but the results were the same with trout in the 18-24in. range once again. The husband/wife team put 45 big yellow-mouths and 4 redfish in the box by noon. One fish hit the 5lb. mark with lots of 3's and a few 4's! The calm seas and clean water really make for some great trout fishing and should continue to be very good through the weekend. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

A great time fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" the past 2 days with Wes Emerson (Peak Minerals) and his friends from Branson, Mo. Fished the beach off Last Island on Saturday morning as we found 125 hungry yellow-mouths eager to eat up our live minnows. The trout averaged 12-16 in. and the action was steady for most of the morning. We called it a day around 11:30a.m. as the bite was over and it was starting to get rough. After slamming the trout yesterday, the guys wanted to do something different today. They wanted to catch larger fish with plenty of muscle and they got all they could handle with the redfish and blackdrum! We started off chunking plastic this morning and the first cast of the day produced a 35lb. blackdrum on the black/chartreuse Bayou Chub Minnow! Five more drum would follow before we hit the bottom with crab. The guys quickly filled the box with 20 6-8lb. blackdrum as they caught in excess of 40-45 blackdrum in just over 2 hours of fishing. Many in the 20-40lb. range were released to fight another day. On to the redfish and boy did the guys have a blast hooking up with the bronze-backs! The reds CRUSHED the "Spot-Remover" by Bayou Buck! We fished the inline spinner bait with the LSU Bayou Chub. What a combination!! The first 4 reds were over 27 in. and many more would follow until we had 10 in the box to completely fill the 150 Qt. This lure is a winner as we fished it over oyster reefs in 2 ft. of water. These redfish were caught with no tide movement in the middle of the day from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. You owe it to yourself to try this lure as it will make a believer out of you quick! Special thanks to Capt. Alex Gravois for helping out on saturday and also to Capt. Ricky Brondum for lending a hand with Dr. Robert and his crew. Will be at it all next week and will post daily reports. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

FAST AND FURIOUS TROUT ACTION "DOWN IN DULARGE"! A great early morning bite before the storms rolled in. Fishing today with Jim Larrison and Mike Baumann was a blast as the guys never have seen such fast action. In fact, Mike fished with his fly rod all morning catching the yellow-mouths. We were done by 7:45a.m. with 75 very nice trout and left them biting on every cast! Avocado Bayou Chubs along with live minnows did the damage! The fish averaged 14-18in. with not many throw-backs. Made a short stop on the way in and caught 1 20lb. bull red and 3 blackdrum on black/chartreuse Bayou Chubs. Couldn't fish long as the bad weather moved in fast! Capt. Alex also had no problem catching their 75 fish limit. The action has been incredible and shows no signs of slowing down. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Spanked the trout again today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! It just don't get any better!! If you're not catching trout right now its because you don't have a line in the water. Fished today with Buzzy Sullivan, Bob Reeves and Don Rodney of the Houma area. We started off with some fast action on live minnows but it quickly died out. Broke out the plastic and finished up with 100 nice trout by 11:30a.m. The Bayou Chub goldfish and avocado had them going two at a time. Most of the trout averaged 12-16 in. with a few 18 in. fish mixed in. Nothing big but the best for eating! Special thanks to Capt. Alex Gravois for helping out today with the Bryan Moeslein crew as they hammered the trout too. They finished up at the same time with 100 nice trout. Good luck fishing! Houma---Bayou Dularge

WHAT A DAY!! The best day so far with fast and furious speckled trout action. Slick calm seas had the yellow-mouths eating up big time "DOWN IN DULARGE"!!! Fished this morning with Kerry and Beverly Moore, Glynn Domangue and Sammy Keller of Baton Rouge. The crew wasted no time as they put 85 trout in the boat at our first stop! By 8:45 a.m. it was over with 125 very nice fish!! The trout averaged 12-22in.(most in the 14-16in. range) with the largest trout(4 1/2 lb.) caught by Glynn. The entire catch was caught on avocado, LSU and smoke/chartreuse Bayou Chub Minnows. Live minnows produced nothing but hard-heads!! The trout smacked the lures as soon as it hit the water---2 at a time on EVERY cast for the first 30 minutes of daylight. Caught 3 bull reds and 8 blackdrum on the chubs for lagniappe on the way in. Great morning to be on the water!! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

A fun day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" with James Blakeney and his crew. Got started at our first stop with an early morning bite. We caught nearly 50 trout in the first 45 minutes before slacking up. From 8:30 a.m. until the noon hour we made a dozen stops catching maybe 10 or 12 fish total. Our last stop produced some nice trout as we ended the day with 92 trout. All caught on plastic--avocado red flake Bayou Chubs worked best today. The trout averaged 12-16 in. and were caught with a very slow retrieve along the bottom. It would have been easy to call it quits early with the very slow fishing. The guys fished hard and it paid off with a nice box of fish. Its always a pleasure to fish with James and his people! Will be back at it tomorrow and will post what we find! Special thanks to Capt. Ricky Brondum for helping out with James Walker and his crew. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Subject: Great Trout Fishing in Dularge!
FINALLY, the day we all have been waiting for!! Slick calm seas and clear water equals hungry trout. Hundreds and hundreds of trout were caught today as everyone seemed to be catching their fair share!! Day 2 with the guys from American Aero found what they were looking for---250 trout between the 3 boats. Forget the live bait you don't need it as EVERYTHING was caught on plastic. Tantem rigged Avocado and the LSU chubs did the damage. The guys wanted to bring live bait and what a waste as we dumped $125.00 worth of croakers and minnows after the trip. You know how many BAYOU CHUBS one could buy with that kind of money?? Anyway, looked like a boat show in the gulf today as every make and model was present! Looks like the Oilman's Tourney is getting bigger every year. The trout averaged 12-16 in. as they ran a little smaller today. A very slow retrieve on the bottom of the shell pads was the most productive technique today and most of our fish were caught before 10:30a.m. It was a beautiful morning on the water and everyone had a great time! Special thanks to Capts Alex Gravois and Ricky Brondum for helping out today. We'll be back at it in the morning and will post what we find! Good luck fishing! (Lots of fillets today Jack W.) Capt. Subject: Trout in Dularge
Another rough day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Bounced around on the outside today as the water was not bad in most areas. The wind was a steady 15mph plus all day and we did manage to catch some nice trout. Today was day 1 of the Houma Oilmans Tourney and we had 3 boats running for Mark Truxillo/American Aero of Houma. Helping out today were Capts Ricky Brondum and Alex Gravois. We started out catching trout on tantem rigged Bayou Chub Minnows and purple split-tail beetles. Some good trout were also caught on live minnows but the majority of the fish were caught on plastic. The guys had enough of being bounced around by 11:00a.m. so we headed in to try some bottom fishing for bull reds and blackdrum. No bull reds were found but the blackdrum ate up everything in sight as we caught 50-60 fish in a couple hours. We filled the chests with limits of 5-12lb. drum and threw back many in the 30-40lb. range! The largest fish was caught in Capt. Ricky's boat----a 49lb. beast that took first place on the leaderboard!! Final tally for the day was 103 trout,41 blackdrum and 1 shepherd. Everyone had a great time and looking forward to day 2 tomorrow out of Cocodrie. Good luck fishing. Houma---Bayou Dularge

"DOWN IN DULARGE"-----Not much to report from yesterdays trip!! Helped out Capt. Alex Gravois with his group working the inland waters. We could not get to the trout on the outside due to a stiff south wind. Working the inland reefs, the guys filled the boxes with blackdrum as the reds were not home. All the drum were caught on the black/chartreuse Bayou Chubs dragging it slow across the oysters. The guys had a good time catching 4-12 lb. fish and released some 30-40 pounders. Those fish really slammed the plastic and put up a pretty good fight too! We did not go out today as there was no chance of catching trout in the 20-25mph north winds. This has been the worse May that I can remember with stiff winds every day. The trout population has not been hurt down here as most folks cannot get out to the fish. The larger 30-35ft. charter boats are catching trout and plenty of them in the rough conditions. We're just waiting patiently for our turn when the weather calms down. Good luck fishing. Capt. Great day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" as we were able to get to the trout on the outside today. James Blakeney, Ken Spiller and Kirk Smith of Lafayette slayed the yellow-mouths as we caught 100 nice fish! Our first dozen fish were caught on live minnows but the remainder of the catch was caught on plastic. The purple/chartreuse Bayou Chubs and split tail beetles in tantem did the trick! The guys had a blast as the trout averaged 12-18 in. and lots of doubles were caught! Always a fun time fishing with James and his crew. Capt. Alex Gravois ran the second boat today with Marty Cox and Larry Baker of Maurice, La. They filled up 2 boxes of fish with redfish, trout and blackdrum---57 fish in all! Larry and Marty had a great time and I know they'll be back for more! We'll see what tomorrow brings. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake Bayou Guide Service 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Another wind blown brutal day "DOWN IN DULARGE"! The wind was worse than yesterday making it impossible to get outside to the trout. John Strother and Bill Harper were on board for their second consecutive trip. Bill found the only trout and no redfish were found today. With only 1 fish in the boat at 10:00a.m. bottom fishing started looking real good. Cracked crabs on the bottom produced blackdrum on just about every cast. The guys had a good time with non-stop action as most fish averaged 5-12lbs. We called it a day around noon with 15 keepers. More wind in the forecast for tomorrow but hoping Friday will be better. "DOWN IN DULARGE"-A fun day of fishing for John Strother and Bill Harper from Georgia. We fished the inside waters today as the stiff SE winds kept us from fishing the open gulf. The guys jumped on some very nice trout and rat-reds early with top-dogs and black/chartreuse Bayou Chubs. Hooked up with bull reds and a few blackdrum at our second stop on the LSU chubs. The guys wanted more---cracked crab on the bottom produced more action with the reds and blackdrum then they could stand! Called it a day at 2:00p.m. with the 150 QT.(42 fish) filled to the top! A nice trip for the windy conditions. The largest redfish was 27lbs and the trout averaged 15-21 inches. We'll do it again tomorrow and will post what we find. Good luck fishing! Capt. Not a whole lot going on with the trout right now "DOWN IN DULARGE". I fished Friday & Saturday helping out Capt. Alex Gravois with his group from Texas. Fridays action was better than Sat. as the guys filled the boxes with some nice redfish and blackdrum. Most of the redfish were caught in the shallow duckponds with the black/chartreuse Bayou Chub Minnow and the drum bit well on cracked crab. Saturdays action was much slower although Capt. Alex got his crew on some nice bull redfish on the "chubs". We caught a few more rat-reds and blackdrum---no trout---as the high winds and dirty water had the outside waters churned up. On Sunday with calm conditions, the trout fishing was great with easy limits of yellow-mouths! The water was not the cleanest but good enough to catch fish! The 3 in. space guppy chubs did the trick. Sure would be nice for John Dean and the guys to produce a magnum 4 1/2 in. space guppy!!! (hint, hint)The fish are there to be caught but the winds are making it tough on everyone to get outside. Looks like more of the same with windy conditions forecast through Thursday of this week. Look for some great trout action when the weather settles down. Good luck fishing! Capt. Subject: Bayou Dularge Report
"DOWN IN DULARGE"-- Another fun day of fishing with Jack, Matt, Jeff and Randy of Marion, Ark. These guys just love south louisiana!! Trying to find some dates for them to come back in June & July for the big trout on croakers. After slamming the trout on Friday and the redfish on Saturday the boys were looking for a 3rd day of more great action. Armed with "SPOT REMOVERS" and "BAYOU CHUB MINNOWS" the guys jumped on some fish early. Our first stop produced 4 nice trout and 1 big redfish. I mean a BIG REDFISH--the big brute was caught on the spot remover and tipped the scales at 27lbs!!! It was caught in 1 ft. of water and you should have been there for that fight! Our second stop quickly produced 8 nice redfish with 6 keepers finding their way to the box. We worked the duckponds the remainder of the morning with very little success. The water is very high and the reds are scattered with no concentrations in any of the areas we fished today. Finished up the day with 9 reds, 4 trout, 1 flounder and a sheepshead. We fished the spot remover with a purple/chartreuse bayou chub on a 1/4oz. jighead as the lure caught all but 1 fish today. Its turning out to be a lethal weapon over here in Dularge as we caught reds, trout, flounder, drum and sheepshead on Bayou Buck's invention. Can't wait for the winds to calm down so we can get out after the yellow-mouths again. I have plenty of the 4 1/2 in. chubs to feed them! Got Jim May of Metarie and his crew all set to go in the morning and I'll post what we find. Good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Subject: Dularge Redfish Action
Gale force winds today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Boy what a tough but productive day of fishing. Fished day 2 with Dwight Andersons group consisting of Jack Bond, Matt Hale, Jeff Johnston and Randy Wyatt of Marion, Ark. Trout fishing was out of the question as we combed the ponds looking for redfish today. Fishing numerous locations, the guys put together a nice box of fish. The lure of the day was the "SPOT REMOVER" by Bayou Buck rigged with Bayou Chub Minnows. Talk about a great inline spinner bait for the reds! The guys hooked up with approx. 20-25 reds ( caught 18 kept 10) during the course of the day and every fish was caught on the spot remover except for 1 that I caught! The crew couldn't believe how hard the redfish pull. Everyone had a great time as the guys were whooping it up catching the nice reds! In addition to the reds the guys caught 4 trout and a couple blackdrum for lagniappe. Not a bad trip for such a blustery day. Postponed my trout trip with James Blakeney tomorrow due to the stiff winds and looking forward to day 3 with this group again tomorrow as they want some more of the redfish action. Maybe the wind will give us a break tomorrow. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

Subject: Trout Explosion in Dularge!
It just don't get any better "DOWN IN DULARGE" as the speckled trout frenzy continues! Easy limits once again as the spotted sea trout were boiling the water this morning. Shrimp were skipping on the surface with hungry yellow-mouths in hot pursuit! Fishing with me today were David Truxillo along with his customers from RPC Energy. Ben Palmer, Gary Zeringue and Phil Cooper busted up the trout as we caught 125 fish before the noon hour! These guys were a lot of fun to fish with! The trout averaged 12-18 in. as a lot of male fish have replaced the big sows that we've been hammering all week long. Thats o.k. as they're better eating fish anyway! Those big ole magnum 4 1/2in. chubs are still doing the trick as the trout really love them. Purple/chartreuse is the only color we threw today. Most of the fish were caught in 2 ft. of water or less. Hopefully we can squeak out one more productive morning for Dwight Anderson and his boys before the big blow this weekend. It has been an incredible week of "catching" and next week should bring more of the same. There are a couple open days next week with Capts. Alex & Ricky for anyone looking to get in on the fun. Take care on the water and good luck fishing! Capt. Bill Lake Bayou Guide Service 985-851-6015 985-853-6055

AND THE BEAT GOES ON.... Fast and furious trout action for the third day in a row! Catching the fever today were Amos Lambert, Kenneth Burrows and Hal Moreland of the New Orleans area. Departed out of Cocodrie this morning to accommodate the guys and traveled west to the Dularge area. We found the fish stacked up at our first stop on an old shell reef and only had to make 2 more stops to get our 100 fish limits. The trout averaged 14-22 in. and smashed the 4 1/2in. Bayou Chub Minnows! Hal took the money for the largest fish with a nice 23 in. fish that tipped the scale just under 5lbs. The purple/chartreuse and avocado/chartreuse "chubs" worked best today. The guys had a great time and were excited to catch such quality fish. Looking forward to another good day tomorrow with Dave Truxillo and his crew. Good luck fishing! Capt. Subject: Trout Bonanza in Dularge!
A fantastic day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE", another speckled trout slam-a-rama with those live croakers. Wes Emerson of Branson, Mo. along with his buddy Henry from Ms. put a whipping on the yellow-mouths this morning. Our first stop of the morning only produced 18 fish in the 12-15in. range. An epidemic was created at our second stop as the boys were stricken with the fever!! "YELLOW-MOUTH FEVER" had the guys reeling----reeling in 15-22in. trout on almost every cast! The croakers didn't have a chance as they were mauled by hungry trout as soon as they hit the bottom. By 10:30a.m. we were done with our 75 fish limits of some really nice Bayou Dularge Trout! We called Capt. Alex to join the party and his crew boxed another 70-80 fish in short order! It was a great Day 2 for Wes & Henry and they're already looking forward to the next trip. Subject: Slower Day of Trout Fishing
"DOWN IN DULARGE"--Today's trip got off with a very slow start. We loaded up with live croakers and headed south in search of hungry yellow-mouths. After 3 hours of running around the gulf we had nothing to show for our effort. We found lots of dirty water and no fish! Fished Enstar, Picketts, Mardi-Gras, Bluepoint and everywhere inbetween with no luck. Wes Emerson and crew were in town and they were accustomed to catching lots of fish on their previous trips. A bitter dissapointment to say the least! Everyone was hanging tough as nobody was ready to throw in the towel. Capt. Alex Gravois was helping out today and he eventually found some good fish in one of our honey-holes. I decided to join him and we caught 40 trout in an hours time. The trout were slamming the live croakers as it was great to finally get some action. Capt. Alex and crew caught 70 nice trout to give us a 110 fish total by 2:30p.m. Final tally was 110 trout, 1 flounder, 1 20lb. redfish,1 sheepshead and 6 Blackdrum. Looking to rebound tomorrow on Day 2 with Wes and the gang. Good luck fishing. P.S.-------Special thanks to Capt. Ricky Brondum for helping out with the Ron Jenkins crew. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Wet and wild this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE! Dodged rainstorms most of the morning but still managed to fill the box with some good eating speckled trout. Tony Franks, Freddie "Visquine" Sampey, Kurt Williams and Terry Hodges were determined not to let the weather ruin their day. The gang busted up the yellow-mouths with carolina rigged croakers catching their 100 fish limit in a few hours! The fish averaged 14-22in. with Kurt taking big fish honors. Finished up just in time as a big storm was brewing south of us and was closing in fast. We wouldn't have had a chance to catch fish on plastic as the water was not very clean. Terry & Freddie each caught a 25lb plus bull redfish and both were released to fight another day. Going to have to watch the weather close the next few days to see if this unpredictable pattern allows us to fish through Sunday. A lot of fun today although we got wet ----looking forward to the guys return trip in August for bull reds. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Cocodrie, La.-------Trout Fishing
Great morning of speckled trout fishing out of Cocodrie! Slick calm conditions and beautiful water had the yellow-mouths in a frenzy. At our first stop we found just what we were looking for---FAST & FURIOUS ACTION --- it was every cast on plastic and live croakers. George & Schymaya Seacrist of Ruston, La., Brian(Whitie) Arceneaux of Houma and Josh Stevens of Ft. Worth,Tx. had a ball reeling in one fish after the other! The action eventually slowed so we moved to several other locations without a bite. We found nothing but big ground swells in the gulf and fishing the beach was not attractive. Ended up coming back to our first spot and started hammering the trout again on live croakers. We were fishing with 1/2oz. carolina rigs and the trout were caught on shell bottoms. We ended the day with 81 trout and another 30 or so white trout. Everyone had a great time with lots of action today.********Yesterday we couldn't get out with all the storms and wind in the area. George and the gang decided on bottom fishiGg and off to Dularge we went. Fishing with carolina rigged crab we caught 20 blackdrum in the 4-8lb. range. We added 6 or 7 redfish that were caught on LSU Bayou Chubs and spinner baits. Sure was nice to fish the two days with these folks and I look forward to their return. Good luck fishing. Great speckled trout action today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Decided to take a run off the coast this morning with the light chop and it turned out to be a good move. Armed with 150 live croakers, we found some good quality fish despite dirty water and strong offshore currents. Fishing with me today from Baton Rouge were Brad Ewing, Tom D'Armond, Jeff Weston and Jay Graham. A persistant west wind had most areas looking like chocolate so catching fish on plastic just was not going to happen! We fished many locations today but only 1 small well-head produced fast and furious action as the guys really slammed the trout with carolina rigged croakers. The final tally was 65 nice trout in the 14-18in. range. Made 1 stop on the way in and the crew knocked out the blackdrum on crab, catching 30 fish in the 4-8lb. range in a little over an hour. No redfish today! Everyone had a great time with lots of laughs. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Not the best weather conditions off the coast this morning "DOWN IN DULARGE"! However, we found a bunch of trout stacked up between the storms and hammered out our 75 fish limits of 12-18in. fish. Jimmy Franklin and Jules Little of Lafayette caught most of the fish on the "SPECTACULAR" although the tantem rigged LSU chub was just as effective. This was the day we've been waiting for! Slick calm seas, good tide, and pretty water equals a great TROUT SLAM "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Only had to make 2 stops this morning as the action was as good as it gets with fast & furious action from starving yellow-mouths! No live bait needed as everything was caught on tantem rigged plastic and steel! The LSU Bayou Chubs and Avocado did the trick as Glen Bush & his family Jean,Charles, and Morgan of Jackson, Ms. had the time of their lives!! We finished up with our 125 fish limit and Capt. Greg Yancey and crew added another 75 nice trout ----all before the noon hour. The trout are very nice averaging 14-22in. and not many throw-backs. A great time was had by all! DOWN IN DULARGE"--High winds this morning had us back searching for redfish in the duck ponds. Charles Graml, Andrew Chaudoir and Robin Lambourn of Houston, Tx. picked up right where we left off yesterday. The guys are really good fishermen and they put a slam on the reds. The LSU chubs worked best with the 1/4oz. Johnson gold spoon coming in second. Those reds crushed the purple/chartreuse chubs and I'm sure this lure will be a mainstay in the guys tackle box from now on! Robin fished with his fly rod all day determined to catch a few reds. He finally got his redfish along with a few blackdrum and a small speck. We finished up with 20 reds, 2 blackdrum and 2 flounder. The reds averaged between 16-27 inches with many in the 21-25in. range. Looking forward to fishing with the guys again. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Another windy afternoon of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Worked the duckponds again today with a strong rising tide. The water was clean in most areas but the redfish were finicky this evening. We covered a lot of water and needless to say our cast to fish ratio was not that good. Fishing with me today were Bruce Fontenot/ Newpark Drilling along with Earl Marquardt of the Lafayette area. The guys were a lot of fun and a great pair of guys to spend the day with! We finished up 3 fish short of our limits with 12 nice reds and 1 trout. All were caught on LSU Bayou Chubs except for 3 reds that Earl caught on live minnows. (check out Earl in the photo). A great time today on a beautiful afternoon in the la. marsh. Good luck fishing! Subject: Good Redfish Action
"DOWN IN DULARGE"----A great morning spent chasing the bronze-backs in the shallow duckponds. Leo Webre, Jake Morris and Chris Gauge put a slam on the reds this morning! Spinner baits, LSU chubs and the Spot Remover did the trick! The reds were eating up the gold blades this morning ---very aggressive fish. We ended the trip at 10:30a.m. with a total catch of 20 redfish, 18 trout and 3 flounder. All 3 flounder were caught on the Spot Remover Jr. Everyone had their red over the 27in. mark including the good captain. What a blast everyone had today. Thanks guys for a fun filled morning with lots of laughs. ******************Yesterday was another fun day with lots of offshore action !! Fished yesterday with Emmett Boudreaux and his friend Reggie, Brad Lake, and Captain of the ship Alex Gravois. Sure was the perfect day to partake in the 90 minute boatride with calm seas. Our first stop produced an endless supply of 16-18in. red snapper. Could have limited out in 30 minutes but we kept a few fish and moved on in search of other fish. Our second stop only produced 1 lemon fish and a single lane snapper. The third stop was a charm with all the action one could stand! Numerous AJ's in the 15-25lb. range and 30-50lb. lemon fish had the crew at their mercy. These guys thought they were in great shape but soon realized it was only in their heads. By noon everyone had just about enough of being dragged around the boat so we headed in early. Final tally was 20 Snapper, 6 Mangrove's, 1 Lane Snapper, 2 Triggerfish, and 7 Lemonfish. A couple of cobia and some AJ's were caught on jigs while everything was mostly caught on spanish sardines and pogies. Thanks Capt. Alex for your guidance as everyone really enjoyed yesterdays adventure. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Windy Day in Dularge
More wind than I was expecting today "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Tough fishing today as most locations were dirty and chopped up. Fishing with Tommy Hightower and his son Tad from Lafayette, we picked at the fish and ended up with 20 trout and 1 big redfish. The big red fell for the LSU Bayou Chub while most of the trout were caught on the Speck Tacular and Speculizers in dirty water. Don't look for the trout fishing to be very good the remainder of the week as high winds are in the forecast. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Great Redfish Action In Dularge!
Want Redfish? We got'em "DOWN IN DULARGE"! We gave the trout a break today and chased the redfish for a change. It was great to get back working the shallow marsh ponds and what a great adventure it was! It was my pleasure to fish with Skip Kovach & Jack Lawrence of Lafayette along with Bobby Franks of Mandeville, La. Live bait is considered a sin with this crew and plastic and steel is always fine by me. My kind of people!! Boy these guys can fish and made my day an easy one. Working the inland duckponds the crew really worked over the spot-tails catching 50 plus redfish. It was no problem catching our 20 fish limit with the kind of action we found today. All the reds were caught on the LSU Bayou Chub and some dandy spinner baits the guys brought along. The spinner baits worked extremely well and the "chub" was equally effective in luring the bronze-backs. We caught redfish today in all sizes from 15in. to 30in. as we did catch a bunch of 15-16 in. reds. We had our 4 fish over the 27in. mark with lots of good fish in the 21-26in. range. Sure was an exciting day with the company just as great as the fishing. Thanks guys for a wonderful day. ****Special thanks too to Capt. Alex Gravois for helping out with Mr. Fred Hebert and his crew from Baton Rouge. They hit it hard for the trout and found a few before the wind got up. They had a nice box of fish with approx. 25 trout and a few redfish. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Trout Bonanza in Dularge!
Hard to beat today's action "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Took up where we left off yesterday with a grand trout slam catching 100 fat yellow-mouths in only a couple hours. Ned Perkins, Richard Keller and Walt Domangue couldn't believe their eyes and never have caught so many fish in a short period of time. The trout were slamming the "Speck-Tacular" along with the LSU Bayou Chubs reeling with a steady retrieve. Ned caught a nice 5lb. trout on the ST and we had another 25in. fish caught on the chub. Its really starting to heat up in Dularge right now and no live bait is needed. Get out early for your best success as the wind really kicks up by mid-morning. Good luck fishing. Capt. Subject: Trout Slam In Dularge
"DOWN IN DULARGE"--Got off to a slow start with a 30-45 minute fog delay this morning. Jody & Cason Gott of New Iberia joined me today for a "Dularge Trout Slam"! This was the guys 4th trip to Dularge and they wanted to learn a little more (Really a lot more) of the Sister Lake-Mechant area. Once we cleared the blanket of fog we found calm seas and pretty water at our first 2 stops. Not much current though as we caught the end of the falling tide. We worked over the areas hard picking up about 15 nice trout on the chubs. Decided to try for the reds but only caught a few Dularge Snapper and 1 lone Blackdrum. The tide started to come in shortly before noon and it was back to searching for the yellow-mouths. It didn't take long as we found the trout stacked up and the fast & furious bite was on!! Jody & Cason were slinging them over the side and rear of the boat on almost every cast with the Speck-Tacular & Speculizer. I was slinging the LSU Bayou Chub & christmas tree beetles on the bow with hook-ups on nearly every cast! It was great to see all that head-shaking as the fish were very aggressive. The box quickly filled in a matter of 30-40 minutes with hungry seatrout. The trout were all sizes with plenty of 16in. fish and a few over the 18in. mark. We probably caught 50-60 fish in that forty minute span as we did have quite a few throw-backs. We ended the day with 55 trout---a fun day spent with some very good fishermen. Looking for another big day tomorrow! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Trout Fishing On Fire in Dularge!
Messy day down the bayou today! Fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE" with Johnny Domangue was a quick trip as the rain got the best of us. Johnny and I jumped on some nice fish at our first 2 stops catching 41 nice trout. Two fish were in excess of 4lbs and were caught on "Top Dogs". Everything else was caught on electric chicken "chubs" reeling with a steady retrieve. The trout are moving back to the oyster reefs as the water temp was 62 degrees this morning. We were the only boat out today! Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Great Trout Action In Dularge
"DOWN IN DULARGE"--Trout fishing at its finest right now as the yellow-mouths are very active and hungry! Fishing today with Belton, Mel and Sheri Didier was lots of fun as the crew put a whipping on the trout. We made 4 stops today and caught trout at every location. Thought we ended up with our 100 fish limit but the official count by Mel turned out to be 98 fish. The trout averaged 12-18in. and were all caught tightlining the LSU and black/chartreuse Bayou Chub Minnow. The fish would not touch a lure under a cork today but who cares. Anyway, spring-time fishing is about to bust loose down here as the reds are already moving back to the ponds and the trout are migrating back to the lakes. Don't know what old man winter has in store for the next few weeks! Only a series of hard freezes will bring this good action to a halt. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Dularge Trout Fishing
A very good day of fishing "DOWN IN DULARGE"! Burning up the trout down here right now with lots of fish in the 13-18in. range. Fished hard for our catch today as the action wasn't as fast as the previous days. On board today were George Biscotto, David Reiss and Mike & Jo Ann Percle. We had a great early morning bite and then a lull before getting another good bite between 1:00 and 2:00p.m. Finished up with 81 nice trout and 5 or 6 redfish. The LSU Bayou Chubs worked best again today. A slow steady retrieve did the trick as no corks are needed. Capt. Greg, with a 1 man crew, caught a boatload of trout too bringing our total to 131 yellow-mouths! Greg and Charles caught their 50 fish limit on the LSU and black/chartreuse chubs. Fishing protected water was the only way to catch fish today with the stiff SE wind. Looks like more of the same for tomorrow. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015

Subject: Big Trout Run Continues in Dularge
The trout slam-a-rama continues "DOWN IN DULARGE"! The trout bite has been fantastic for 3 days in a row! Fast and furious action this morning with easy limits by 7:45a.m.(50 trout-14-18in.). The black or purple/chartreuse bayou chub was the ticket once again. Tightlining with a steady retrieve is the way to fish'em--leave the corks home. I fished a completely different area today with Capt. Greg Yancey as we were just messing around and scouting out the area. We also caught 6 redfish with 2 of them making the 16in. cut. Should have 2 more good days of trout fishing before the front moves through on Sunday. Good luck fishing. Capt. Bill Lake 985-851-6015
