I gotta tell you, this was far and away the best fishing trip I have ever been on. We've done several charters in the Gulf of Mexico, and caught hundreds of fish, but the overall quality of the fish doesn't even compare to the catch the Famoso put us on. We had two trophy sailfish on AT THE SAME TIME, not to mention two Dorado's for a total of four hookups at once. What a dance we had! My Dorado (54") was the biggest fish I've ever caught. The crew of the Famoso were top shelf. We cut up and laughed with those guys all day, but when it came time to "go to work", they put their game faces on and got it done. A SUPERIOR EFFORT from a first class outfit - the best I've ever seen. The only problem I have now is clearing my calendar for another run at a monster Marlin. Did I mention my first ever Wahoo? I thought I'd hooked a submarine! Needless to say, the crew of the Famoso provided me a memory that I can take with me to the hereafter. Larry Ford, Montgomery, Texas, June '08 |

Trip Report: July 17, 2006 - Rene O. from Carrollton, Texas I would like to thank you and especially the crew, Pepe and Rene for a wonderful fishing trip July 17th. Thank you for letting me switch the day from Tuesday the 18th to Monday the 17th. Turned out to be the luckiest thing I have done. The crew was absolutely excellent. In fact, if it was not for Pepe's experienced boat handling it would have taken a lot longer than 30 minutes to land the Blue Marlin. Imagine that - never even thought I would catch one of those. I was the talk of the resort for the rest of the week.
I also want to commend Rene' on the excellent lunch. I don't know if we were starving or if it was the sea air, but the salsa, guacamole and sandwiches were the best I have ever had. My son is still talking about how fresh and tasty the salsa was. I sent the fish off to Gray's Taxidermy for mounting! Rene |

Trip Report: Jeff K. from Mart, Texas, July 25th 2006. I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you for an incredible fishing trip. Though we had to cut the trip short due to my wife’s small sea sickness problem, we had 4 fish in the boat in under 45 minutes of fishing. In addition, your crew was outstanding and made sure we were taken care of right down to getting our biggest fish to the taxidermist and our smallest fish filleted and off to the chef for our dinner that night. Thank you very much and we look forward to fishing with you next summer. PS Here is a photo which is our biggest fish caught by my wife of course.

Another review with reports: Hi Rita & Burak, I fished with Capt Pedro last week and wanted to pass along to you what an incredible trip we had. I have fished at least 6-7 deep sea charters and this crew was by far the best. I made that comment before we boated 22 fish & the catch just drove home the fact. I tried to get my brother and uncle to come with us but they opted for a different "cruise sponsored charter" with 8 people on board all spending the same amount and boated 2 fish which has been average on all of my charters (they fished VERY close to where we were). I promised I would send the email to pass along how much fun they made the experience irregardless of how many fish we caught, as I said, that was a bonus. His fresh Wahoo Cerviche was beyond description & we ate until we could not breath! I hope to return soon & will definitely contact you for fishing and diving! Sincerely, Tony & Deb PS if its not an ancient famiily secret we would love the Cerviche recipe!!!! To finalize we have been landing quite a bit of tunas and wahoos along with some sharks. Also, here is picture of one of Tony's catches.

A customers view instead of ours!! This is for week ending 23 July 2006, Hello Rita, I just returned from Cozumel and fishing with Albatros Charters, your company did a fantastic job. The Crew of Pedro and Julian were fantastic and the three days were great. The first day we boated over 20 Tuna, most smaller but a few definite keepers, Same day several Jacks of good size and 2 Barracuda, we even counted the smaller Dorado about 8 pounds of him. Second day, we fished the South Point lighthouse, smaller number of fish but the size was easily doubled. We boated several large Barracuda and several Wahoo, not to mention the very large Dorado and a few nice yellow fin Tuna. Fish count that day 16. The large Dorado decided to jump and run 6 times before he was added to the boat tally. Third day saw my wife and niece on the boat, Boated a nice 4 foot Barracuda then a fast trip to a hotel dock to drop off the girls. Mal-De Mare had set in, but we only lost 1 hour of the eight. We proceeded back to the South Point and boated another 4, 2 of them being very large Wahoo (5 feet) and smaller Barracuda. We also sacrificed a fair size Tuna trying to raise a Marlin, but El Bandito the Barracuda decided on Tuna lunch instead. All in all I conservatively counted 51 fish in 3 days and that's worthy of any fishing crew. Your guys did a fantastic job, 7 lines constantly out and changing bait to offer different opportunities. Pedro makes about the best Wahoo Chevecie anyone could imagine, not to mention ice cold pineapple and more than ample liquid refreshment. Each day we spilt the fish with the crew and the hotel staff received their share, so the Coz Palace staff sends a warm thanks also. Please send my very best regards to Pedro and Julian, they are a great crew and I very much enjoyed my 3 days of fishing with them. I plan to return in the future as we really liked all aspects of the trip and I will once again contact you with a charter request. Until then, anyone thinking of fishing in Cozumel or that area I will send them your way. Best regards Deron Cowan PS. We constantly were catching large fish where other boats we skunked. I let you in on the secret.... Let Julian and Pedro work then lines and you the client enjoy experts at work. Tell your other clients have faith in the crew as they are partners and a positive mental attitude, after all what could be better then a cruise and good company, the fish are a bonus. |

Well, after my last posting here things sort of quited down a bit, that is as far as the billfish and big mahis go. Yeah, they moved away once again and now we go after wahoos, local sailfish, tunas, snappers and groupers. Currently an average days of fishing is bringing in 8 to 12 tunas, 4 to 6 snappers, barracudas, 1 to 2 wahoos and an occasional small mahi ( 15 pounds or less). The only good thing is that the temperatures are not as hot as the US and Europe. the ocean at 85 degrees does temper our daily highs. Until next time..... |

End of the high season???? Well, last week was pretty good in catches including 250+ pound blue marlin, black tip shark, lemon shark, a few sails to 90 pound, lots of dorados, tunas and snappers. However this week has started rather slow with the bigger species missing. Have been landing barracudas, snappers and an occasional mahi. Plus the current weather system is not helping either. We are hoping for some more rains in the area to cool the waters a little bit so that the present disturbance that is currently at the leeward islands will keep us out of its crosshairs. Good luck to all and tight lines... |

Soory no photos this week but lots of action as we did land mahis, tunas, whites and sharks.. The week started with 2 mahis, 6 tunas and a shark, continued with more of the same and yes a big blue cutting loose at the very last second (da big one got away), mahis are running between 25 to 45 pounds, yellow tails are around 10 to 15 and the sharks (well only one we landed was a black tip at 100 pounds) - others were cut loose.... Tight lines!!!!! |

Here is a picture of 48.5 lb bull dorado landed with a Fin-Nor 9500 loaded with 12 pound test line, last week. The fisherman was our factory design engineer for Fin-Nor/Zebco (yeah Zebco bought Fin-Nor last year) and they have already done an amazing job turning around the reels.
For other catches over the weekend and yesterday: Saturday - 3 tunas, 1 shark (about 200 pounds) which was cut loose and 10 barracudas, Sunday - 2 mahis, 2 wahoos and 5 tunas Yesterday - 2 mahis, 6 tunas and a bull shark again 200 plus pounds which was cut loose as well. We just don't want them on board thrashing around and taking a bite out of you!!!! |

So far it has not been a dull season and we are hoping that it will last a while longer than it did last year. Sunday landed 10 mahis, 4 wahoos and a white marlin. On Monday while we did not have a bang up day, still managed to land a 48# mahi along with a 25 pounder and some barracudas and tunas. These photos are from last Wednesday, 31 May.

I know it has been a while since our last post here. However getting direct hits by two hurricanes, Emily and Wilma, did have its effects. In any case we have been back up and running. The fish are here and they are biting. Here is a quickie from the past 4 days: 1- White marlin, Shark and tunas 2- Blue marlin and 3 mahis 3- Sailfish and 6 mahis 4- Lost white marlin but landed 4 mahis and a wahoo. The hurricanes as well as commecial fishing is having its mark on the number of catches. This is why we call it fishing not catching. Tight lines.... |

I will be in Cozumel on a cruise ship October 8th 2005 and am very interested in hearing any information about Sportfishing charters or possibly panga lagoon fishing light tackle for bones and various other fish. I have 2 easy going guys (myself and one other) that are looking for a trip to share with someone else to cut down on the cost. I'm a fishing guide off the coast of NC so don't worry about me wanting to have the rod in hand too much since I get the chance to catch plenty of fish. I'm more interested in seeing my brother in law or anyone else catch some fish and being there to enjoy it. Email me at CaptScott@shacklefordcharters.com if you have any interest in splitting the charter or have information/recommendations on who to go with or even who NOT to go with. Thanks in advance! |

Will be cruising late Feb/early March to Cozumel. Looking to book a charter with a reputavle English speaking captain, newer, clean boat, preferably in the 38-45' range. Believe that Sails should be around, though not as plentiful as later in the Spring. Anyone with any info e-mail me at hondor@frontiernet.net |

My wife and I cruised in to Playa this past week, she went shopping and I worked my way down to the beach in search of fishing. Found several captians with Pangas and hired one for $130 for four hours. Missed one sail and then went bottom fishing and caught 10. It was good value for my money. |

From: "Jean " To: jim@wahootours.com Subject: Great feedback from ShoreTrips Date: Mon, 11 Apr 2005 11:37:09 -0500 Dear Jim, Barry just forwarded this email to me and I had to send it along to you right away. What a fabulous review. I realize you probably did not make any money on this booking. Did you confirm this booking in hopes of getting others that day or were the others no shows? Thanks and thank your crew for the great job. They sure found the best fishing spots on March 29th! Thanks, Jean Andrea, Hi, my husband Mark was actually the person that took the trip but I feel like he told me enough so I could be the one to answer your questions. His trip was based in Cozumel and it was not a whole boat charter booking but an individual and he expected to go with strangers. However, he was the only person booked for that morning and they still took him out. He had a wonderful time even though he had a language barrier with the captain and the deck hands. They took him to many areas and he caught lots of larger fish, I think he said he caught about 8 that averaged 4 feet in length maui maui and something else. Now, I haven't seen the pictures yet so it could be a fish story. But, I do know that he said he was way too busy fishing to enjoy any of the refreshments that they brought with them and he had no time for sight seeing. He was way too busy fishing!!! If we ever return to Cozumel I'm sure he will use the same charter service. Also, because of the remote location of the marina they dropped him off closer to town so he wouldn't have a problem get a taxi back to the ship. Thanks for the great time!!! Kim Makowski

Hi Andrew. There are fish being taken. Lots of Wahoo lately and some good Mahi-mahi. The old faithful Barracuda is always here as well. Cozumel is now in the billfish season until June/July so we will be seeing more and of course the May fishing tournaments always show great successes. |

Went on an 8 hour trip on may 25th with captain pedro and mates antonio and jose. We hooked the first dorado within 15 minutes of being on the boat and caught 9 20 to 40 pound dorado's within the next hour and a half. Then we got the blue marlin which was awesome. The mates estimated it at around 200 pounds. It ended up dieing on us. Then there was a 4 foot barracuda caught. Awesome day of fishing. Great fishing charter and they work their butts off. Will definitely go with them when I get back to Mexico some day.

I'll be at the Iberostar 6/10 - 6/18. celebrating our 17th anniv. Looking for someone to share the cost of a charter with me and my wife to fish, preferably for Tuna and/or Dorado. What can we expect to be biting? How much will it cost? I want to catch fish, not pay for an expensive boat ride- if you know what I mean. If you've got any tips please forward them to me. |

Share a Fishing Charter One Day 5/8-5/13 « on: Today at 07:12:00pm » ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- My wife and I would like to take one day out of our Diving to go on a fishing Charter. We could go any day from 5/8/04-5/13/04, but prefer someone interested in doing the full day, but we are flexible. I guess if 1/2 day means 1/2 day of fishing time that would not be too bad either. I am not about to spend 500 or more to go so would like to find more people to share the costs. I don't care who we book through because I don't know anything about any of the fishing guides in Cozumel any way. I found this from another guy's post on here which allows you to request a share: http://www.wahootours.com/scripts/shareform.php Here is the share schedule: Looks like their 2 others interested in a half day in this time frame, but I would rather split the cost between 6 if possible. Here is the link to the may share schedule: http://www.wahootours.com/share/may04.php

When the sailfish action starts heating up in March, do you fish right off Cozumel or do you venture down towards Isla Mujeres. I am coming in on a cruise ship and will have the 22nd of March available to fish. I was curious if that was to early to have legitmate shots at billfish. Also wanted to make sure time would not be an issue if we have to run a ways to find fish. |

Looking to share a fishing charter in Cozumel with some people during the last week of February. Any days of Monday, Feb 23 through Thursday, Feb 26. My wife and I would just like to spread out the cost of the charter with some friendly people that like getting out on the ocean and try catching some fish while enjoying a few cocktails and some great scenery. |

We cannot apologize enough for not getting to this on a daily or weekly basis, but that's a good sign, right? We've been out fishing and even caught some sails in January! We've been catching, grouper, dorado (dozens, but today 2 20#), wahoo (many, today 1 20#), king mackerel, blackfin tuna, shark, yellowtail snapper, red snapper. We promise we're out there and we're catching. We've been out 17 days of the month of January and have only come back empty handed on two of the charters! Not bad. If we don't post and you want to know, send us an email or give us a call, toll free 888.333.4643 |

Folks, we are awfully sorry, but we've been so busy with everything that the last thing we remember to do is post daily. We are, however, in the business of providing good deep sea fishing experiences to all those out there! That we do. So, while we may not post daily, please remember we're busy providing services for you! In December we've caught sailfish, dorado, wahoo, king mackerel, bonitas, barracuda and shark to name but a few! We've had some great days (13 dorado) and some not so great days (2 barracuda). But, we are hopefully showing you a good time along the way! As for fishing from a cruise ship, you've got time. Give us a call, toll free 888.333.4643 and we'll work with your cruise ship schedule! Also, those of you coming in May, book early, as it is peak fishing season and we fill up fast!
