Had a beautiful day on the water out of Morro Bay. ALthough we didn't go all the way to the Davidson, which was the hot place, we ended up with 8 albies, lost 4 and had two other knock downs all at 35-27/122-36 (about 88 miles on approximately a 260 heading) There was some warm water there. Everytime we saw a jumper or a disturbance on the water, we trolled over it and got a troll fish and a bait fish. No specific colors on the troll but green and purple did a little better. The bait rolled real early but if you put a little weight on it and send it down, they still hit it even though it was dead. The bite seemed to be a little later in the morning. |

Looks like we will be jig fishing but it sounds like that might be good enough. Can't wait for the blood to flow on the deck again. been a long time for the killer B's with tuna blood on it. I will post an update when we get back into phone range for the guys going on Sat. we will be on 68. out |

Quick post. Went to John"s numbers from yesterday and no luck. There were a few caught in the vicinity of those numbers but the majority of the fish were out where Shawn caught them. Numbers were around 45/45 Twenty miles farther than we had the fuel to go. I lost one engine so glad I didn't try. Long ride home on one engine. Averaged 14 mph. |

Correction to my post: It's Monterey without the water to flush your engine, not Moss. |

Matt, to answer your question about Monterey landing: It's closer than Moss or SC to where the fish are, and very quick out of the harbor . It's $2.00/hr to park, but I paid for 7 hours and stayed for 10 and didn't get a ticket or anything. My complaint with Moss is there's no water to flush your engine. I asked the guy at the marina and he said it's "frowned upon." (WTF?) We went Wednesday for 9 albacore. It was 50 miles to the grounds, with some sloppy going from about 20-40 miles out (through the Monterey Canyon), which made for a long ride. Being a little closer helps. Pistolero |

First time in over 5 years I had the feeling that something was going to pop watching terrafin. Things are looking up for sure. Captain Tenacity and the Admiral of the Red Cup Navy .,.... ITS TIME! Jim Nielson .......... there is a name I have not heard in awhile. Good to see your still killing tuna, raced to the barn side by side a couple times out of Morro with you on my Port side. Always figured if I was fishing the same water as you I made the right decision on water to fish. Steve ... That 15ft boat of yours may get its chance by October inside 20. Good Luck Guys ...... nice to see this board active again. |

Just a note on bait fish, I know it is fun when you get them on bait, but they hit trolled jigs right now with ease,so if you do not have bait it will not really matter, the quicker you get the line back in, you get hit right away. We hooked 4 on bait, but that was afetr we had fish on board and just wanted to get some that way.The fish are hitting anything you put in the water. Santa cruz has bait if you are going to Montery area, but I do not think any one else has any, so way the extra land time and water time to get bait. |

Tuna, Tuna, Tuna!!!!That is all that needs to be said. We launched out of Santa Cruz on 8/19 and head out to 19 over 55 and headed west.First fish on board within 15 minutes and never left the spot, caught fish all day until about 3. We headed in and started cleaning fish, had 16 on board and lost the most I can ever rember, at least 10 fish. They hit jigs on a slow troll after we where hooked up on the first fish and spit the hook. Head for the barn and hooked another 10 fish on the way in, sure makes it hard to clean fish when you keep putting more in the box.We finally had to pull the lines to keep them from jumping in the boat. What a great day on the water. Fish where being caught all along the temp break line of 55.Nubers where being called out 20 miles from us with the same results. Every one in double figures and 20 plus in the boat was average. If you ever wanted Tuna, the time is now. Nice fish 12 to 25 lbs.Glad to see Morro get fish, sounds like it may be a great late season for us this year. |

For your question about transient slips or dockage in Morro Bay. You can call the Morro Bay Harbor Dept at 805-772-6254 and they can help you. It is a first come basis, best bet is N & S T-Pier tie up for $6 to $7 dollars day. If the Albacore heats up space will go fast. Hope this helps |

Lots of traffic on channel 68 with boats fishing Albacore out of Morro Bay, Not sure of you can hear most boats talking are out over 65 miles. Antena I'm using is over 460 feet. Talk of one boat with small blue fin. I'll post numbers for those who want them later. |

Fished with Darren and his son Roman on their boat EL RATON at the coke plant Wednesday. We caught and released a small shark and had a few scratched baits. Very slow fishing until 1PM when my pole starts pumping.A 33lb halibut is brought into the boat. That was the only fish caught for us it came on a purple haze hootchovy. |

Final on the Fiesta: 30 fish 15 to 25 lbs. John ROWLEY said good meter marks, color, bait, weather, but stop N go fishing. Best in the morning. 35 25 - 27 and 122 27 - 29. Fish as close to 60 miles on the way home. At 40 miles still good water but no sign. ETA 9:30pm to Virg's. Mark Van W. had 20 and still fishing when John left. Maybe an evening bite? May run the Admiral Sat night for Sunday. Jim Nielson went 50 out of Monterey for 20 fish by noon. I'll let him do the bragging for himself. Doug will be on the bait dock at 3am. Good luck guys. I'm going the other way, deer season ya know . . . I usually associate drama with girls. |

I think what B.A. Stewart says about the 'law of the sea' is correct, if a boat hails 'Mayday' you are required to render assistance if possible. Obviously, if we didn't it would be a terrible situation if something bad happened. |

If LouieLouie Hails and we're in the vicinity I will Respond to him . BUT, we may make him Drift a bit while fishing is hot. BUT, If life or property are in iminent danger we should all Be there for him. I think its the "law of the sea". who knows, he could have kids on board ,or even be a firefighter or paramedic etc(allbeit with social behavior issues?) and may help one of us someday. And if not ,know that what goes around comes around. Most guys are not total_#$%^^ all the time. Ive towed strangers and friends and been towed by strangers and a good tow humbles the proud a bit. Now if it were someone with a better attitude I might Pull Our lines and run 15 miles out of our way to bring ice, beer, parts or gear to them or call them privately onto fish. LL has peed on the board and invited Backlash, the guys have shown righteous indignation toward him and due respect for HK. Carl M has even quoted Rodney King! Now we need to get back to the situation at hand. Where are the Tuna? Can we Get to them? Will they Bite? Im watching board every couple hours and hoping to run towards Davidson etc Thur20 and/or friday21 if I can get enough Infor to line up for a run from my homeport, Port Sea Lion Sportlaunch. Hope to see you all on the water soon with that grin that only comes from zinging clickers, tails slapping the deck or fishbox and the feeling that the$100/# sushi and cannned tuna was worth the time and treasure. |

My Dad and I will be heading out of Monterey tomorrow south toward the Davidson looking for tuna on the boy-in-sea. We will be on 68 if anyone else is out there. We plan to be there for 2 or 3 days. |

Steve, Nice Halibut I'm fishing Friday for the same thing. Trevor will be back from Mexico I think Saturday from his report the yellows are wide open. If he gets back Saturday might fish with him Sunday if he's not burned out.I'll have Trevor get hold of you when they return. Paslay |

We'll do a trip Friday (Fiesta probably) and then Sunday. Will have more details this afternoon. I need to talk to John to see if they are close enough for a standup trip or do an overnight. I think Louie's gonna have a hard time reaching anyone on 68, anywhere, anytime! Unless he's sinking, even then . . . |

I need to replace the transom on my 14 ft Gregor. If anyone knows how to weld aluminum and knows how to replace I'll pay cash. I called Gregore and they wanted $120. I would rather have it done locally 805 431 3560 |

The Pacific Islander out of Channel Islands went looking for LFT yesterday. They went to the 311 and up to the Rod for a total of 150 miles one way. No tuna. Looks like it is "go north" to the Davidson or Monterey to find the albacore. A few boats went out of Monterey yesterday for a few fish in sloppy weather. The weather here is coming down as advertised and should be good the rest of the week. No SST/chlorophyll so it will be a blind hunt until someone locates them. |

DR BOB!! Yea Robert ... feels different, but time will tell. Good to see your still fishing and not just on the Tennis Court. Fishing on the Northern side of Yosemite was a bust ... very very slow. Great time with the kids regardless. Fished a lot of new water and the surroundings were amazing. Looking forward to some great reports from our own backyard in the coming weeks. |

thanks Tree doc. i thought ur remarks were that someone caught these fish here already and i was missing something.after reading the link i see we are just hoping. seems my question gave dragon a good laugh. living in templeton i have earned the right to be called a simpleton, where we can still laugh at ourselves and shoot straight. will be on the water tomorrow and will post. |

I'll help you out.... Read the article that Nick posted. Exotics moving northward. Dodo = Dorado, Mossback = Yellowtail. |
