REQUEST FOR URGENT/CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

Attn:PRESIDENT/CEO.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am MR.YAIBU SALAMI, the Financial Controller and Contract Award Committee Chairman in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC). My colleagues have assigned me to seek for assistance of a reliable foreigner through whom we can transfer the sum of US$28,600,000.00 (Twenty-Eight Million, Six Hundred Thousand U.S. Dollars) which arose from a deliberate over-inflated contract value for refurbishing of petrochemical complex at Eleme. Supply and installation of Rigging and Drilling Equipment’s of Warri and Port-Harcourt refineries and Turn Around Maintenance (TAM). The contract was awarded in 1998 during the General Sani Abacha regime to a foreign firm with the consideration of 10% commission agreement on the total contract value of US$286,000,000(Two hundred and eight-six million US dollars).

The contract has been completed and the contractor has long been paid, we are now left with this US$28,600,000 representing the 10% (our own share) as agreed presently in the Federal Government's account. The Current favorable political/economic climate in this country now presented an opportunity for this money to be transferred out of the country. Our contact in the Federal Ministry of Finance have given us a go ahead advice to begin the process of the remittance, hence we have set in motion the machinery for the take off of this transaction and further action will commence immediately we hear from you. We have agreed that after the transfer of the money into your account, you shall be entitled to 30% of the total amount transferred, while the remaining 70% will be for us. We decided to give you this percentage in order to motivate you and also to let you feel satisfied at the end of this transaction. The nature of your business is not particularly relevant for the success of this transaction.

All we require is your willingness to co-operate and assurance that our own share will be given to us when this money is transferred into your account. All necessary precautions have been taken to ensure a no risk situation on the sides of both parties and it is believed that the conclusion of this transaction will not last more than 10 working days. Since we have no knowledge of business, our plan is to invest this money into Real Estate, Stocks and we can also invest in some other profitable businesses in your country based on your professional advice because many of our years has been spent as civil servants, and we may likely resign from government service to private business after this money is transferred into your account. Please note that this business is strictly confidential and must not be disclosed to a third party.

Meanwhile, in order to apply formally for claims and obtain legal approvals from the government circle in charge, we require complete beneficiary's name, bank name and address, telex and telephone and fax numbers of your bank, your account number. This is necessary to avoid disclosure that may jeopardize the transaction. Finally, if this proposal is acceptable to you, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact me immediately on the above Tel number or Fax number, you should also send to me your private e-mail address, telephone number and fax number for easy and confidential communication. I will oblige you with further information if so required.

Best Regards.

MR.YAIBU SALAMI.

Subject: Reports from Jim Boyd

It’s the start of the final day with everything to compete for with no fewer than four boats, Jocanana, Atila, Coiote and the Blue Hunter all lying level with one white marlin each.
Things are a bit tense aboard the Blue Hunter with owner Karel Geerinckx being aware of an engine problem so he is just a bit uneasy about the long 45 mile haul out to the mark where he knows there are marlin.
But the Belgium marlin master decides to take a calculated risk and powers the engine out his chosen spot, 45 miles out, where action is found almost immediately. Just as the second lure hits the water there is an enormous surge as a white strikes at the first lure on the centre rigger and this fish comes at it no fewer than three times but isn’t hooked. But astonishingly as this fish turns away there is a flash of blue fluorescence as another large dorsal fin hones in to attack the second out lure but again no hook up.
Within an hour of all the lures being put in the water it isn’t over long before Blue Hunter has yet another double strike. Crack! – The short line on the starboard side snaps off the outrigger and the reel starts to screech but then no sooner does Karel set the hook and the crew start clearing lines and rods another marlin whacks into the lure working off the starboard rigger but the hook flies free.
By this time Karel is fighting the fish that has taken off 400 metres of line and is now making some spectacular jumps. After eight or nine tremendous leaps it dives and then appears over 400 metres to the right where it starts its cartwheeling all over again. Now the fish goes deep and it is up to the skipper to do some skilful manoeuvring to back the boat onto the fish to enable Karel to pump it up, retrieving inch by painful inch. After fifteen minutes of hard work on the rod the fish is spotted in the crystal clear Atlantic waters and after some much harder pumping the fish comes to the boat where a crewman grabs the leader. To everyone’s relief, Blue Hunter now has a caught fish that is measured by the Comissario at 1.7 metres and estimated at a weight of 40 kilos. The fish is carefully tagged and released to swim safely back into the depths.
By this time some of the less powerful boats had now reached this far off mark and before long no fewer than six of them were fishing this relatively small area of prime fishing ground. All the boats were seeing plenty of marlin but like the two previous days none of them seemed particularly hungry but seemed to enjoy displaying an aggressive attitude towards the lures.
Now those aboard the Blue Hunter are feeling highly confident of winning this highly prestigious event for a record breaking four times and surely one more fish would tie up the championship title yet again. Then it was noticed that the boat Jocanana had stopped to play a marlin they had hooked so the hunt was on again with a vengeance. The hunt is successful as line rips off the starboard short lure reel – Manuel Vital has the rod and everybody is on a high as the fish dives but seconds later elation turns to despondency as the lure comes free and the fish is lost.
Four o’clock and the engines are gunned for the journey home then suddenly, without warning, one of the engine cuts out completely. Scarily, not the problem one this time – the other, but the rpm of the working engine this won’t go over trolling speed so there is Blue Hunter, 40 miles out facing a long limp home on one poor engine. Five and a half hours later Blue Hunter berths at the Marina and the rush is on to reach the presentation dinner and of course the Jurio’s decision on the tied first place.
By this time everyone knows that Jocanana and Blue Hunter have two fish each and on this basis alone are tied but if the IGFA rules were brought into play then it would be the biggest fish caught that would decide the event. As always Karel Geerinckx had paid meticulous attention to procedures and had ensured that the fish caught were measured for length and estimated for weight by the Comissario. On this basis there would be no doubt that the Belgium would collect the title yet again for the fish he caught on day two measured 1.91 metres and no other fish came near that size. However it was the opinion of judges, to decide the winner by drawing the names out of a hat, and it was cheers all round when nothing more than justice was done, when the name – Blue Hunter came out.

Subject: Reports from Jim Boyd

Day one of the most prestigious marlin fishing event in Portugal saw the ten boats gathering for the all important ‘OFF’ at the Marina da Vilamoura in pretty dire conditions with a heavy sea fog reducing viability drastically.
But happily conditions improved by around about noon when the competitors were basking in glorious sunshine and seeking out that essential ‘blue water’ and of course these glorious sporting fish that are synonymous with it.
Despite the considerable gloom before the Tournament that marlin were not about in Algarvian waters due to the cold water the great news from all the boats returning to the Marina was that the majority of them had all either seen or raised marlin. But the proof of the pudding that they were there to be caught came from the boat Coiote who were the only crew to have a catch confirmed by the Comissario aboard. It was they who held pride of place at the end of day for being the only boat to make a confirmed catch so with a clear start this is certainly one name to watch out for.
At the end of the first day I spoke to skipper Brent Arnold of the Big Black One who had fished some 32 miles off the Spanish border where they saw lots of tuna and where you see this specimen then you can be virtually guaranteed that the big boys won’t be far behind. And this in fact was the case with Brent raising one three times to the middle lure but no hook up resulted. The sad news was that at the end of day one after re-fuelling for the second day one of the engines wouldn’t start and ultimately it was discovered that there was a major problem with a starter motor. Unfortunately a spare part cannot be located locally so that is the end of the tournament for one of the boats that had a better than evens chance of being up there in the top three.
My good friend, the Belgium marlin master Karel Geerinckx, used the power of his 600hp twin Cat engines to power out to a mark some 45 miles off-shore where he knew he would have an excellent chance of finding marlin. In the course of the day’s fishing he raised no fewer than four fish and had two hook-ups. One stayed attached for about 20 seconds whilst the other was a lot more encouraging and held fast for over two minutes making a catch possibility a distinct possibility – but frustratingly a weak hook hold saw the marlin and bait part company.
Karel told me ‘’ Including the two strikes we saw plenty of fish and had a further two very definite follows to the lures. However, I did make a tactical mistake that possibly lost me one of the fish. The fish were certainly lying very deep and weren’t too hungry as they didn’t show that real killer instinct to really take the bait hard.’ Knowing Karel and his meticulous attention to detail the same mistake will not be made again!
Due to the Big Black One’s withdrawal day two of the tournament saw only nine boats heading out to the prospective marlin marks and it was encouraging news from Coiote, who were yesterday’s leaders, that they had raised three fish. The bad news for them was that they hadn’t managed to make an essential hook-up.
Atila powered into the Marina proudly flying the Blue Marlin flag that had been confirmed by the Comissario aboard. However after the Jurio had examined the video of the capture the consensus was that the catch was in fact a white marlin and so valuable points were lost.
The news from Karel Geerinckx will surely drive shivers down the spines of the other competitors for the owner of Blue Hunter has boated a white marlin that after being measured is almost the same length as his record breaker of last year. Karel told me ‘This was a tremendously strong fish that took me over 25 minutes to boat on 50lb line. Again we saw a number of fish and we had 3 that we raised up to the lure – had a look then turned away and returned to the depths.'
At the end of day one there are 4 boats with an equal score of 60 points so if no fish are taken on the final day then it is going to be a difficult decision to make as to who is the ultimate winner. But it does appear to me that the skipper who takes the trouble to produce the most convincing data regarding the fish caught to the Jurio must be the one who can stake the claim to the coveted trophy.
The scene is now set for a fascinating day three when just about anything can happen so watch this space for the fascinating climax to this intriguing tournament.

I'm off to the Algarve hoping to get some Marlin fishing next week. I have a lot of deep sea fishing experience but this is my first time for marlin, and a lifelong ambition. I've been trying to book a boat but am having no luck getting through to the few numbers I can find. Can anybody advise me? (Any advise for catching marlin would not go astray either!)
Thanks!

Vilamoura 29th August 2002

The 5th Blue & White Marlin Tournament 2002 got off to a highly sociable start at the Pier One Restaurant, on the stunning Marina de Vilamoura, when Constantino Jordan, Executive Board Director of Lusotur who operate this, the Algarve’s top marina, welcomed the competitors to cocktail party to kick off this year’s event.
Constantino Jordan said ‘’I am delighted on behalf of Lusotur Marketing to offer a very hearty welcome to all the competitors for the 5th event and am confident that once again this will be a tournament enjoyed by everyone. This event has the reputation of being one that is always contested in the most sporting and friendly fashion upholding the finest traditions of big game angling.’’
‘’This competition is really going to test the skills of the competitors as the water temperature has really been up and down and there isn't really a lot of decent blue water about. But all being well, with some much warmer weather forecast, things should pick up for the event.’’
Luis M Borges, president of the Portuguese Recreational Fishing Federation FPPDAM, who organise the event in conjunction with Lusotur said ‘ It is a great pleasure to be back in Vilamoura for this very important tournament which is always enjoyed by those who come here to take part. We are extremely grateful
to Lusotur for their generous support which enables to continue staging this important event on our calendar.

Subject 5th Blue & White Marlin Tournament - Vilamoura
August 30 to September 1, 2002

5th Vilamoura Blue & White Marlin Competition

Next Friday will see the big game boats powering out of the Vilamoura Marina to take part in the 5th Blue & White Marlin Tournament, the Algarve’s top big game fishing event, organised by the Marina de Vilamoura in co-operation with the Portuguese Big Game Fishing Federation. Last year the event attracted no fewer than 14 boats from teams representing Portugal, the UK, Belgium, France, Spain and Germany, fishing to IGFA rules.
As always the event starts off with a welcome cocktail party on the 29th August and then for the next three days it’s out to the Atlantic to battle it out for the title. September 1 will see the competitors, organisers, officials and press attending the gala dinner where the winners will be announced.
Sop what are prospects for this year’s event. At the time of writing there has been a definite scarcity of marlin off the Algarve coast but on the brighter side there has been an unconfirmed report of a white being recently caught off Olhao. I spoke to Chris Brand of the Big Black One and he told me ‘I have been out with owner Brent Arnold several times in recent weeks but we are having a lot of difficulty in finding any blue water. But hopefully by next week things should have changed for the better and the fish will have moved in with the warmer currents that we are told are on the way’’.
So who then could be in with a shout this year. Well the big news is that Belgium big game fish hunter, Karel Geerinckx, who won this event for the first three consecutive years, is entering the fray after a break from it last season. There is little doubt that this guy will have done his homework meticulously and if there are marlin about, then he will know where to find them. Karel’s great boat the 43 foot Blue Hunter with its twin 660hP Caterpillar motors has the sheer power to get out there fast to the faraway marks if necessary and that could be a worry for the lesser powered craft. Last August Karel broke the Algarve record for a white marlin with a fish that tipped the scales at the 55.9-Kg mark.
If Louis Tchertoff and skipper Helder Ferreira are in the field, complete with new boat, then the others will have to be on their mettle for this pairing too will be extremely well prepared. Vilamoura based charter boat the Cacador Azul will have amassed all the local knowledge and be rarin’ to go and the boys from the Big Black One have been out and about quite a bit of late and will be up to speed on what’s going on. But at the end of the day in an event like this having the necessary ‘know how’ of how to be in the right place at the right time is what counts or alternatively Lady Luck could play her part.
Watch this space for an update on this great event.

Subject: Record Breaker for the Algarve Portugal

For the past three years, Belgium businessman, Karel Geerinckx has had the distinction of winning the prestigious Blue & White Marlin Tournament fished annually out of the prestigious Marina de Vilamoura on Portugal’s playground coast - the Algarve. This event, sponsored by Lusotur who own and operate the marina and organisers the Portuguese Recreational Fishing Federation, now attracts entries from all over Europe.
This year, the sporting Karel, one of Europe’s top game anglers, decided not to enter the competition in order to give some other boat the opportunity to win the coveted Marlin Trophy.
However Karel did take his boat Blue Hunter, a 43 foot Riviera powered by twin 660 hp Caterpillar motors, out in search of the somewhat elusive marlin. As always, Karel has paid meticulous attention to gathering essential information regarding weather, tides, currents and fish sightings. And again the maestro proves he is one of the best big game anglers around when he comes back on the Saturday having taken two fine specimens.
At the weigh in, attended by Dr. Luis Borges, president of the Portuguese Recreational Fishing Federation, it was discovered that the bigger of the two – a fine white tipped the scales at the 55.9 Kg mark to created a new Algarve record for this species – the previous record stood at 49 Kg.
Had Karel entered the event he would have won easily for none of the fourteen competitors managed to contact with a marlin.

Subject: 4th Blue & White Marlin Tournament at Vilamoura .

Day three and still the fourteen boats are looking for an elusive catch that will win them the coveted Lusotur Marlin trophy and the added kudos that goes along with holding such a prestigious award.
I’m out on the Blue Hunter, owned by Belgium businessman Karel Geerinekx the top Algarve big game angler who has won this event for the past three years but is not taking part this year to give someone else a chance. And what a magnificent boat this is. A 43 foot Riviera powered by twin 660Hp Caterpillar motors and boy can this beauty, with a top speed of around 35 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots, really put some space between boat and land in a very short time.
As always Karel has paid meticulous attention to gathering in essential information regarding weather, tide, current and fish sightings so he knows exactly where to go. Two hours later, forty miles away from Vilamoura and eighteen miles off the Portugal/Spanish border we find the right water temperature and some terrific ‘blue’ water. Right on noon the air is electric as the word ‘fish’ is yelled and there it is – the great black fin honing in and out at the beautifully worked lure. Then it is no longer there and we realise why when we see awful oil slick that surrounds the boat. In the darkness of night some irresponsible boat has decided to clean its oil tanks using the sparkling Atlantic as its sewer.
The air is thick with the stinking smell of used oil as Karel and mate Filipe spend well over an hour replacing all the traces and washing down the lures with detergent. As this clean up continues skipper Enrique powers the boat away from the pollution to yesterday’s mark where they caught the two marlin. But that was yesterday and the only fish we spot is a big Mako shark that disdainfully refuses to be tempted by the dead bait we dance enticingly through the wave tops.
Back to Vilamoura Marina to the sad news that none of the other boats has taken any marlin. At the ‘prize giving’ dinner the trophy is passed into the safe keeping of Dr. Luis M Borges, president of the FPPDAM and Constantino Jordan, executive board director of Lusotur announces that the bulk of the prize money will be carried over to next year’s event.

Subject: 4th Blue & White Marlin Tounament at Vilamoura

O’K it’s another day but sad to say the same old story with none of the fourteen competing boats managing to make contact with either the white or blue marlin that are proving to some somewhat more than elusive – for those taking part in the event that is – but more of that later.
Day two and I’m out with the redoubtable duo of Louis Tchertoff, one of the really serious players on the Algarve big game front, and Helder Ferriera, a great character and a skipper who really knows his Algarve big game fishing scene. At the present time Louis and Helder are eagerly awaiting delivery of their brand new boat so this time around we are out on a charter boat that is something a bit special.
This is an absolutely ad fab craft – the BH Gates V1 – a Rodman 12.50 powered by twin Volvo Penta 430 HP engines capable of a top speed of around 35/37 knots and a cruising speed of 25/26 knots which is a highly impressive specification.
Helder make good use of the boats capabilities and decides to head out about 37 miles offshore where he knows there are some good underwater shelves, an acceptable water temperature and some decent blue water – but will the marlin be there? – That is the question.
Twenty eight miles out we throttle back to trolling pace as conditions are looking good and at eleven o’clock the rigger line snaps off with a satisfying ‘crack’ and Lordy, Lordy at last we have a screaming reel. But sad to say it isn’t a billfish but a daft wee skippy tuna that decided to raise a false alarm so back he goes to grow up.
At 2pm we are well out, almost approaching he forty-mile offshore mark when one of the reels starts to screech – this time a connection has been made with something bigger much, much bigger. Eyes sharper than mine spot a bill but before I can focus the camera on the action there is that heart stopping ping as the line parts company with the fish. The experienced aboard reckon in all fairness it wasn’t a marlin but a spearfish whose bill is much shorter and has a body colouring different from a marlin so a hook up won’t be claimed.
Astonishingly away out there with only horizons for back drops we spot another boat – the Blue Hunter, the boat that has won this tournament for the last two consecutive years. This year they are fishing but have decided not to take part in the event as they feel someone else should have a chance of winning – now that’s a sporting gesture for you.
Six p.m. and we arrive at the Marina to be greeted with the news that Blue Hunter has just weighed in two white marlin. Yes, isn’t this fishing is a funny game when two boats can travel out forty miles into the Atlantic – fish within sight of each other and one gets two and the other blanks.
Tomorrow, the final day, and it’s been arranged my good friend Marcia from Lusotur, the sponsoring company that I will fish with Blue Hunter – so again, watch this space – there could be real tale in the next episode if they keep up their current form.

Subject: 4th Blue & White Marlin Tounament at Vilamoura

One thing that was sadly missing on the first day of the 4th Blue and White Marling Tournament being fished out of the prestigious Vilamoura Marina was the sound of screaming reels and the splashing of jumping fish. Due to the relatively cold water and absence of blue water none of the fourteen participating boats managed a catch or even reported a hook up.
My host for the day was Brent Arnold, skipper and owner of the Big Black One, and even his considerable experience of marlin fishing off the Algarve coast couldn’t track down one of the elusive big boys. Yesterday, Brent predicted that this was going to a very difficult competition and the way things are looking a single fish could pick up the coveted trophies for the winning boat and competitors.
We tried the usual stuff to try, even one of those flashy new teasers which incorporates mirrored glass, to tempt something up from the deeps and when it became obvious that there were no big game about tried something just a bit different in an effort to hook any sort of fish. I had taken over some special sea-fishing flies, tied up by top dresser Davie McPhail from Ayr, for my pal Chris Brand, team captain for the day. A nice Blue & Silver bait fish imitator was fished off a Planer down-rigger about four metres down but even Davie’s work of art couldn’t tempt even a humble sardine or a mangy mackerel.
O’K, tomorrow’s another day and I’m out on a cracking new Rodman with the well known big game angler, Louis Tertchoff as my host. As they say - watch this space.

August 31 to September 2, 2001

Date Monday, 20 August 2001

Jim Boyd, Scotland’s most prolific angling writer heads off to the sunny Algarve next week to cover the 4th Blue & White Marlin Tournament. Last year Jim was awarded the coveted Marlin Trophy award for the best journalistic coverage of the event and looks forward this year to producing a quality of coverage that will put him in the running for the trophy again this year.
Without question this is the Algarve’s top big game fishing event, organised by the Marina de Vilamoura in co-operation with the Portuguese Big Game Fishing Federation. Last year the event attracted no fewer than 14 boats from teams representing Portugal, the UK, Belgium, France, Spain and Germany, fishing to IGFA rules, catching a very highly credible 21 white marlin and making hooks ups several times that number.
The event starts off with a welcome cocktail party on the 30th August and then for the next three days it’s out to the Atlantic to seek out these really true denizens of the deep. September 2 will see the competitors, organisers, officials and press attending the gala dinner where the winners will be announced.
Said Jim Last year was my first ever experience of marlin fishing and it was quite honestly simply magnificent-I just can’t wait to be out there again looking for that blue water and the enticing fins of these most magnificent fish slicing through the water surface chasing our baits. 

Dania Beach, Florida, USA -- The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is in its third year of the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship Circuit, an international fishing competition that is expected to draw teams from all corners of the earth. The event will take place in March, 2002. The 4th Club Nautico de Tavira/Shimano has been named by IGFA as a qualifying event for the championship, and the winner of this tournament will be invited to bring their team of up to four anglers to compete in the championship. As a qualifying event, each participant in the tournament will receive a one-year membership in IGFA. The 4th Club Nautico de Tavira/Shimano is scheduled for August 23-25, 2001 in Tavira, Portugal. This is IGFA's third year in sponsoring a tournament series, and there is no doubt that it will be an exciting event that will attract international interest. So far, over 74 tournaments from 24 countries and 10 U.S. states representing over 10,000 anglers have already been invited to accept the challenge to send their teams to the event, and more tournaments are expected to be approved by IGFA in the near future. There were 59 qualifying events in 2000.

The international championship competition has been held in Kona, Hawaii the first two years. Currently several locations, including Kona are under consideration to hold the 2002 championship event.

IGFA is a 61-year-old nonprofit, membership-supported conservation organization best known for maintaining world gamefish records in freshwater, saltwater, fly fishing, and junior angler categories. IGFA members are located in approximately 125 countries. Recently IGFA has constructed its 60,000 square foot Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach, Florida.

Subject: 3rd Blue & White Marlin Tournament 2000.
Marina de Vilamoura, Algarve, September 1,2,3, 2000
From: Jim Boyd
Date: Sunday, 10 September 2000

Recently anglers from all over Europe gathered at the Algarve’s Marina de Vilamoura, the biggest, best and most beautiful marina in Portugal to take part in the 3rd Blue & White Marlin Tournament 2000 over the three days of September 1,2 and 3. The Tournament is organised by the Marina de Vilamoura in co-operation with the Portuguese Big Game Fishing Federation and fished to IGFA rules. Last year the prestigious event attracted 6 boats and 30 competitors from several countries who managed to catch 3 marlin and make a further 10 hook ups. But in recognition of the ever improving numbers of marlin - both white and blue that are being found in the waters off the Algarve where they are attracted by the clean water, the right temperature and ample supplies of the right food this year’s entry really took off. No fewer than 14 boats with teams from Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and the UK took part in this years event chasing the coveted Tournament trophy and the 500,000 escudos first prize.

At the end of day one, with calm seas and perfect weather, Striker 1 was in first place with 4 points having taken a white marlin on 20lb line. Zulu Bravo and Cacador Azul both have 3 points but the big talking point is that the team from the Big Black One skippered by Brett Arnold are claiming 10 points for their fish which they consider to be a blue. However the Jurio or judges are not convinced, the Comissario aboard isn’t sure so photographs taken at the release are called for in evidence.

On day two it was bad news for the boys aboard the Big Black One for after examining the photographs the opinion of the Jurio was that there was insufficient proof to show that the fish was a blue so two points only are awarded but with Chris Brand taking another fish on 30lb line their aggregate points for the two days hits 5. Taking the lead was Jose Bomba’s boat Zulu Bravo with Amadeu Lourenco’s 3 points for a fish on 30lb line giving them an aggregate of 6. Also with 5 points are Gladius who picked up all their points on the day through 2 fish taken by Mario Guerra.
At the start of the final day it looked as if the winner was likely to come from either Zulu Bravo, Big Black One, Gladius, Esmerelda Azul, Striker 1 or Cacador Azul then right out of nowhere came Blue Hunter who until then were sitting on a zero score. Karel Geerinckk picked up two fish with the first on 30lb line making 3 points then a brave decision to take one on 16lb line earned him 5 points which clinched the tournament’s first place. Also on 8 points were Gladius and Cacador Azul - Zulu Bravo, Dolce Vita and the Big Black One all had 6 points. The other placings were Esmeralda Azul, Striker 1 and Vareiro 1V with 4 points, Blue Sqautina and Mada had 2 points, Be Happy had 1 point and Barbatana and BPN Nino 1 didn’t score.

This Tournament was a brilliant success with the final catch total coming to a very credible 21 white marlin and the number hooked and lost were several
times that number. This is an excellent quality of white marlin fishing and as the word spreads that sport of this calibre is to be had off the Algarve coast then just watch this sport sector take off.
