Subject: Surf fishing
Hey guys,
How about some info for a mid-westerner whom loves to surf fish on the Emmerald Coast, and will be there( Grayton, Santa Rosa, or Blue Mountain beach, not sure which one yet) in October. What's hitting? What should I rig for? I've been there in May, and in late August. Please give me a clue of what to expect.
Thank You,
Rick Garcia |

The spring Pompano bite was great! Now many of our beaches are visited by "June Grass" halting surf fishing. If you find a clear spot expect Pompano, Whiting, and Blues. Spanish and King Mackerel are on the menu now. Find Dolphin and Sails on the grass lines. Reefs are producing Snapper and Grouper. Redfish and Speck Trout are on the grass flats early morning and late afternoon. Big Game Hunters check with your favorite Charter Capt for a trip to the Canyon.

COBIA...COBIA...COBIA.. The first of the cobia run has been spotted. Get your eels ready!
March has come in like a lion here. Surf fishers are catching Whiting and some Pompano. The Pompano bite will increase as the water warms. It is a little early for sand fleas; so use your Pompano jigs or favorite clouser or shrimp imitation.
Speck Trout is back in season. Find Trout and Reds at the mouths of bayous early morning or late afternoons. |
