Stidman... Shut the F@#K Up!!

There is not a person on this board that won't contribute to the Vet's... Know that!!

You have 17 posts already today just to convince us that your point is the only one... You are not a very good listener.

thanks mike, i wasnt complaining, was just standing up for the guys who are bringing the events together.the ones who actually busted a grape and made something happen. but we actually do have a place for the events to post. on top of this page right corner is a main topics page, for those who didnt see my earlier post.click it, has classifieds and everything. my guess it was best posted here as there is more traffic here. seems harmless enough. ill once again appoligize for my rants and i do hope to meet everyone and fish with all. even the ones who disagree with me. happy hollidasys all!

Speaking of Facebook and fishing… I have created a fishing site via Facebook. I try to post as much as I can. You can all feel free to “Like” my page and comment as much as you want. I try to post all of my fishing stories and news I hear of. It’s a great and easy way to communicate to each other about what is going on around the Central Coast without having to post reports, although both reports and non reports are welcome! I fish as much as I can whether it be out at sea, off a pier, off the shore, or in fresh water. I fish quite often off of the local piers in this area and post all my stories and pictures I take. Even went out recently in the AA Tournament and took lots of pictures of the event and even some of you while fishing out on the ocean. Please check it out, log in to facebook, and “Like” my page called Fish Jabber or just copy and past the link below into your web broser:

dave i totally understand, im a member of numerous types of forums, gold prospecting and such, treasure hunting, metal detecting and never see any rants and raves or complaints. when the snow is on the ground, rain is pouring and we cant do any prospecting, we chat, keeps it up and everyone doing something. im sure this has been around way longer, i definately love reading and learning. alot is nonsense, but if the guys didnt discuss anything in the off season, why log in and look. if theres nothing to post it just sits dead. but if theres something to read, an event like the last, which by the way everyone from the event was a part of this site, none of them complained.they participated. theres a difference. i understand all the boat naming and all is jibberish nonsense, but it wasnt just fun, it was something to talk about instead of just logging in, no reports , then logging out! i recall quite a few guys in that topic. just killing time and keeping it alive. honestly, whats the harm??? i didnt join this to just blab anything, but if i hadnt asked for help or guys to go with me, i probably wouldnt be typing this and may have sunk. cause until something happens, i dont know the dangers, i asked so it dont happen again. im sure all the years this site has been going on, not just reports have been said by all you guys. surely you got into a topic here that had nothing to do with reports!!! if not, your an oak! hats off! but i do understand, i do appreciate all the help, and even the criticism, it all teaches me!!! happy hollidays dave and all.i wasnt meaning the forum would end by saying it would die, just basically whast the use of something if its not being used. theres no reports, and if an off topic gets in, its not stopping you or anyone else from posting or seeing a post about reports.it gets carried on, but hey, you and everyone reads it or you wouldnt be posting about it.

Mr. Stidman...I'm no hater, and I repeat that helping out wounded vets is a great and noble cause. Please do not misunderstand that. But for you to suggest that this board would DIE if you guys didn't post all the off topic stuff is quite a stretch...the board has been around a long time, and has been a great source of information, for a lot longer than you have been participating.
The reason so many of us don't post our FISH REPORTS any more here is because it is no longer a FISH REPORTS board.
Simple as that.

ok everyone, heres the deal!!! i looked this site over and just noticed at the top right corner there is a link called main topics. it has a place for events and classifieds, tips and tricks so on. and other things. so i will be the first yto appoligize for all the chattering, it looks like the events can take place and openly discuss the topics in different categories, cant beleive no one and all the guys thats been here so long didnt notice or just point it out would be easy to just post vets fish day, check out events!!! to any thats upset and ticked off, especially at me, no harm done, i dont take words over the net personal, but there is a place to take the events and continue to build up the comunity of guys loving to fish and help out.so lets take it over there!ill start it for ya!!!

greg, create a facebook page, anglers ananomous or however you spell it, post the link right here and leave it at that, let this place see about one post a week and bet they com on over just to read whats going on.wheather they step up and get involved is up to them. but that would be the best. nothing but rants and raves over something you and 80% of the people here posting have part of. that was suggested, and best if its gonna bring arguments and dislikes, best take it somewhere else. but i agree that it needs to be an open discussion wherever its allowed, as no one is gonna sit and make phone calls all night hoping, but open discussion everyone reads and just easily types count me in, gives ya an idea how many and who!!

Max, you could also look into renting a kayak from Poly. When I was there you could get one for the weekend pretty cheap. Worth checking out, but rod and reel fishing closes the 31st and opens...???May-perhaps?? So you will be stuck with casting from the shore, or swimming out and shooting fish.
He is right about those ponds at Poly though. Bass, crappie, bluegill, lots of fun. I have only been harassed by the cops a half dozen times or so, and make sure you do catch and release. They keep threatening to close the ponds because people keep fish, which ruins it for everyone else. Those small ponds don't have a lot of bass and could get fished out quickly as well. Also you are fishing in horse/cow/pig/sheep effluent-yum.
Good luck out there.

yeah, thats a great idea jim, but remember buddy, that event you was at couple wk ends ago wouldnt have taken place if it was done here openly. because someone mentioned it and asked who would get involved rt here openly, people came out of the wood work and volunteered and made it happen. i understand they could say if interested give me a call, but dont you like to see who getting involved and see the whats going on with your own eyes. hard to know whos doing what unless ya want to call everyday to see if more people getting involved. i understand this is for FISH REPORTS, but if it wasnt for some off topics here and there or open discussion, that event and future events wouldnt happen. its done right here, and probably 85% is all for it and getting involved and not complaining. 15 percent just sit and expect to see reports that aint happening cause not alot fishin going on, some might be jealous cause, i dont know. but i dont see any harm in these guys openly discussing things we all want to get involved in. its not like this board cost per post or reply. people can skip through what they dont wanna read, or keep it to somne reasoning, another site for the club and events would be key. but whats the harm, does it really get under people skin that much to get upset. letting a chat board grind ur skin is kinda childish.it all has to do with fishing and bringing guys together and great things. i dont think its the planning of events or off topics runnin people off, more like people complaining and wanting to turn this into a rant and rave instead of discussion and get along forum.anywas, ill get with ya soon and we can do some fishin, thats the best medicine in the world for us!!!

Max,

I used to just fish around the port. Use a Surf/Stealhead setup and jig head with a white scampi. Deadly. Caught many halibut during the summer months.

Winter I would fish one of the many Poly ponds for largemouth and the occasional stealhead run up SLO Creek.

There is plenty to do with out a boat around here.

If you are stealthy there are some ponds with MONSTER bass exceeding 10 lbs. Super fun on light gear.

I have seen some guys fishing on the inside of the PSL breakwater. They hiked over and were poke poling. It could be a bit treacherous this time of year, and the outside would always be treacherous. Hiking over there would involve some swimming too, unless you timed it with a very low tide. Look into getting a kayak. I fished the tip of the breakwater out of my kayak on Sunday afternoon and caught 3 lings, 1 cabby, a kelp greenling and a couple rockfish (all released).

Hey I was wondering if anyone on this site has heard of fishing off of the jetty at Port San Luis? I'm a poor college student and I can only afford to do the occasional surf fishing. Is it possible to hike back there?

BTW, a late post from last Sunday morning...I took some cayucos kids fishing up at the north end of the Bay...I did not meter much in the way of bait or fish, but we did have a steady pick on smaller rockfish in about 60ft,with a couple short lings...The guys fishing closer to the 10E and farther south toward Buchon did better on the bottom fish...jeff

here is a question, id like to do some bowfishing with my uncle. he owns the local archery shop and he used to go after mako and blue sharks with his bow.its been awhile though. were wanting to do it and where would we find some? we would chum them to the top, shoot them with a arrow attached to bouy, then come back and collect them after they surface. where are the good spots for makos and blues, is this a gd time of yr for it?

i did go back and read, they dont post anymore cause the reports die when the fishing does, from what ive learned rock season shouldnt even be open right now, maybe im mistaken, but i did hear how it was able to go on to end of december, so wheres the rock fish reports if its so hot out there. and probably most guys dont post anymore cause there isnt much to post about, like i said , it will die and loose people if there isnt any activity. not saying there shouldnt be another category for off topics, but there isnt and so far i seen more people get invoved into the ideas and show up than expected. alot of thanks and cudos to the ones putting it together, if there wasnt some fish event then there wouldnt be any fish reports. ed,peg leg, marty, and the rest promoting, making things happen and getting everyone to get involved, hats off to you.your off topic bbq and tourney was a success, lots of boats and people showed up. dont stop. its bringing people together, fishing and more. as i recall there was reports good or bad due to the event. i didnt do much gd, but i did fish, came in late, but still met people.and for the quick time you all put it together, it was extroardinary turnout. i dont think anyone else could have gotten the people involved like it did without the off topic discussion.that many boats, people and donations in such short time, at least we can be thankfull we was able to have a place to post and discuss it, otherwise it would have never happened. BOTTOM LINE!!! you know, instead of complaining, why dont you say count me in, i can take a vet! be part of it. then post your report and experience and admit in your heart you was touched helping someone that helped you when you didnt even know it!!!

ok moderator, give us just one ctegory called everything else, from classifieds to charities to ur dog catchin a fish lol. anything else to do with off topics , regardless what it is.then we can watch it scream past the reports page and bet that hate will still be there reading everybit.maybe then they will get active and contribute somethin, regardless what it is. its all about a place to post something.id probably sank my boat if it wasnt for the fish reports. i was able to ask for help and got way more than i ever expected, met more friends that actually didnt want somethin from me than i have my whole life, and still got guys willing to help, even though i know it all already. lol. just kidding, im never gonna learn it all, but thanks to the off topics that i was able to get help and not die out there, cause if you guys knew half the crazy stuff i ever did, youd litterally crap your pants. i been in 5 head on cololisions in kern canyon in one year, all drunk drivers in my lane, yet i dont fear driving or getting into another. so driving up to piers isnt a big deal to me, but at least i know the dangers thanks to off topics and concerned posters.so thanks all you guys that post and reply. now i can fish instead of drown! lol.

Mr Pier direction guy .... If you go back and look at the archives of this site, you will find that it WAS a fish reports board. You will also see a ton of names you no longer see posting on here... as you call them the haters.

Thank you Mr. Stidman for posting the obvious! It needed to be said.

It is OK for them to post their political rants but not anything they dont want to read or hear.

And as you said they are not the ones posting fish reports from THEIR ocean.

We are not giving them the info they want.

well, some more haters, lol. if you guys sit around here just waiting for reports, this site will die. all the guys i see complaining about the ones who post all the time from reports or just things like the tourney is what makes this board active. yeah, i agree if the site was divided into catagories we could put our conversations and ideas elsewhere, but it isnt. and these guys is why this board is active. you guys that complain, ive searched this whole board and havent seen any post from you donating any ifo or reports. just complaints. evidently you like reading whats going on, your still here complaining. ctegories for different discussions would be nice, most forums have them. but this one dont and i dont see any harm that all the chitter chatter causes except the complainers.since your just concerned about fish reports, go ahead and lets hear your report!!! oh, not much to say huh, well , at least thank the guys that are talking to give you something to read, as they are the ones who post all the reports you read as well.look at all the countries, counties or cities on this board. look at the last posts, years ago, look at the posts and replies, not much, all dead, no one even reads them.at least the psl and morro is alive and something to read. live on fish reports.

Helping out wounded vets is a great and noble cause, and kudos to all the organizers...however, this board is no longer a fishreports board and it has lost a ton of relevance, so much so that people really aren't taking it seriously anymore...with all due respect, you guys involved in the charitable side of the board should create a forum (someone suggested facebook) to get all your stuff organized...

How about if you guys start a facebook page or something?
btw...is the creator of this board ever going to update it (didn't we do a survey on this a couple years ago?) so that all we see are topics and not a running discussion on anything and everything???

John, if you are talking to me, I'm putting these ideas out for everyone to discuss, not talking to anyone in particular. This deal is for everyone to enjoy. If you would like to compile all this info for Greg, have at it, I'm a busy person too. Greg has his hands full trying to get the club set up so this all can go on. Thanks for your comments. Not like a lot of fishing info comming in right now, is there?

Hey everyone, I have a painter friend who I do a lot of fishing with that you all have had fun with this year that needs some work. Commercial or residential. If you know anyone who needs a good painter, email me please. Have roller will travel!!!!!!!Will paint boats and trailers too.

Names and abilities still comming in and I'm more and more in awe of everyones generosity with this deal. We may have tables and some equipment for the deal now. Just not sure yet, of course what all we are going to need, but still would like everyones input on what they can contribute and most of all your ideas. The more the better. I have another Idea to throw out. How about all of us skippers, boat owners and helpers going out for ourselves the next day and chip in a winner take all big fish of any kind other than trash sharks and Dolphins and Whales of course, ( thrashers or Makos OK)jackpot of 10.00 anti up like on the sport boats at each landing and each will be Autonomus. In other words, if 25 fishermen pitch in and go out fishing in MB that will be their jackpot, if 34 do it in PSL, that will be theirs, etc.

We now have 30+ or- boats, maybe 50-60 or more people that have said they would boat, help fish, EMT, help on land, help with fishing gear, donate prizes?????????? Absolutely great!!!!!!! and we haven't even been at it for more than 2 weeks yet.
Other needs we will be asking for are; folding tables, either one large BBQ per port or several smaller ones. Drink containers, all the goods to eat on and with, and most importantly--------a clean up comittee!!!!
It was mentioned the other day about maybe a freshley caught fish fry, so here is an idea! If every boat donates at least one large red or ling we could have a great fish fry. If someone was skillfull enough to get and donate a WSB or Halibut----------Desert!!!! If,then we do a fish fry we will need a great batter and some deep fryers and or some fish screens for BBQing them. All ideas welcome. We need to get a couple of grocery stores involved too. Someone out there knows a store owner.
Another idea, and it may be too grand for this year, but if there is an electronic wizzard out there somewhere that has a closed circuit TV system that could do a deal through the internet we could do a big screen connection between the cities involved, or at least a couple of them like PSL and MB for the weight-ins and awards part of the thing so traveling back and forth could be avoided. Just an idea!!!!!
One more idea to throw out. I have always been on the side of the law--------however crazy or laws may get sometime---oops! no politics allowed now!!!!!!! maybe we could even invite the DFG people from local AND Sacramento to attend and maybe even fish too! Maybe we could actually hold out an olive branch and get our minds on tract together instead of going away from each other. I know some of you out there are not too fond of these people but maybe we could at least try to persuade them on our side instead of against us all the time as it seems to be. We are not the enemy, we just want to use what is rightfully ours! More ideas please?????

I'd like to make this a great event and one to be proud of for all of us involved and especially for the Vets!

Anyone know someone that works at FSBY tv in SLO to get them to work the event and maybe ride in one of the EMT boats to see the whole deal and shoot if for us.

Am I thinking too big, or can we pull it off?

As for fishing Looks like David should have the room for Vets. So I will do what needs to be done. I may try to get someone with another boat but can't promise. Ray and Hugh are you reading this?

Still need a designation form a lot of you as to the area you'd like to fish in. again here is my email to let me know colemaned@sbcglobal.net
Thanks Daniel, cleared that up for me OK. Is John still doing anything at Virgs. Old friend of mine for sure. Caught about 1/2 of my lifetime Albies behind his skippering and sold gunnysacks to all the landings for 25-30 years.
If you ever need a Handyman to help work on the boat and maybe some help working her just call.
The response is overwhelming at this point but let's not back off. Thanks everyone.

Great day on the water and a big thank you to Bob Hather for saving my ass at the dock

Fishing today was ON FIRE , the weather was just what we on the central coast want for the final days of the season , no wind waterski conditions , and the fish were hungry.
Fished with BRAD ,on the princess with James and Matt on deck , we caught fish all day long and came in early , I had a solid limit of lings and reds , as most aboard had , all my fish came on swim baits .
Was a great day on the water and I did not have to wash the boat or clean fish , tight lines

Ed I think your under the assumption that I am doing this through Virg's but I am not. I did however buy the harbor pathfinder from Virg's so we will be aboard her. I no longer work for Virg's but I can talk to the owner about it no problem. As far as coordinating the event from here I cannot as I will be too busy commercial fishing.

I hope to help at the very least with set up at the launch for the afterparty festivities.
I also know a bunch of guys that would be interested in helping as well.

OK Daniel; Since it's going to be a multi city event ( we hope) maybe we can start getting parks lined up like this too. Any one in Morro Bay want to head the deal out over there? It's kind of hard from a distance like this. What boat are you think of running Daniel and I'm thinking that we can do wheel chairs from private boats unless you think we can do them on a party boat out of MB too????

Musselman; Wow! Sea and Weather sure look like fishing time.
I am in absolute awe of you all. We now have around 26 boats capable of handeling some 100+ vets,WW,s and actives for fishing alone. Now all we need is the Vets, WW,s and Actives and Prizes and some more helpers on the boats. If we cannot come up with enough fishermen, then we might consider less boats and some skippers move to deck and helpers. I'm sure that if we put out a plea to the Vet organizations we would sink the boats so let's go there first before we start dropping boats.Rather have a flotilla for sure.
Also, I'm not getting any info from you all about your prefference of launch area. BE nice to split it pretty evenly. Anyone know someone that could print us up some small 8x11 posters sometime in the future to get out to all the landings along the coast to get the fishermen everywhere involved too?
Hope Greg got his Pheasants yesterday and today.

I can take one vet on my boat, and will have room for a deckie too. Gotta have Farmer D for a deckhand though, it'll make for a 10x more memorable experience!! U in Dustin? Also am an EMT. 18' center console. Or , could jump on someone elses sled. Either way, sounds awesome.
