I will be visiting the Perdido Key area on April 11th. Can anyone give me any advice on where the best place to surf fish would be. Any info would be appreciated. |

Subject: Dolphin Photo
We were all surprised at the awesome color of this boated Cow Dolphin. Fishing with a floating cigar minnow off the stern - we all heard the bait runner scream and 20 minutes later we had this beautiful fish.

Subject: Amberjack Bite
It has been a while since I have posted a message and there is not a better time. The Hard Tails are all over the pass and the jacks are covering the taller wrecks. We are catching our limits - Here is the trick: 1.) Self setting circle hook on 5ft 50lb leader with a swivel. 2.) 8oz led above the swivel 3.) Using a live Hard Tail-fish about 40-60% of the depth. When the fish hits let him take the bait and do not jerk - once he has munched - start reeling him off the wreck. If you are holding up on the spot the Captain should pull off the wreck to prevent cutting you off. Have Fun - the bite is hot! |

Subject: Snapper Bite @ Night
As you know that since the weather has cooled some the Snapper have turned on. Well the bigger ones are holding out, that is....until night time. We are having some very successful Snapper trips when we are out when the sun sets. As soon as evening is upon, the bigger ones are biting.
They are hitting Snapper Slappers and cheater rigs with cigar minnows. We have also been getting some nice one on small hard tails.... |

Subject: Snapper Bite Is Hot
The Snapper have been hot this week taking everything from squid to cigar minnows to live pen fish. It seems that everything we send down comes back with a fish. The sizes are just above legal in most catches with a few big ones in between.
I would also like to add, it is worth floating a cigar minnow on a cheater rig for the Kings while your fishing.....the smokers are out there. |

Subject: Gulf Fishing
Fishing this weekend was realy nice and the weather is great. We are catching Amberjack from live hard tails caught in the pass. They bigger jacks are at the edge - we caught a few in the 40lb range and had some break offs as well.
We are doing well trolling using live balyhoo and a Islander Skirt (Pink and Blue) - we caught a large King, Tiger Shark and a Dolphin during a short period of trolling.
The Snapper were hitting the live menhaden in 180ft of water - the fishing was slow and upon sending some down the catches were picking up. |
