I had a 15hp Honda swiped off my skiff a few years back. It was also padlocked on. All they have to do is break the cheesy die-cast handles and the motor is theirs. When I got a new motor I bolted through the transom with SS bolts, then beat the snot out of the bolts with a sledge hammer. The only way that they are getting my motor is to cut off the stern! Hopefully I'll never come home to a sternless boat Good luck finding your motor. steve |

That is real sad Bill.I also have my 25 hp padlocked on.I have always wanted to buy one of those locking bars that go over the turn-screws.I may just have to do that now.It is also a good idea to thru-bolt the sucker on if you can.Hope someone catches the thief, and you get your property returned! |

FISHERMAN BEWARE Pass the word the salmon are not the only easy pickings out of Moss landing. We went out of the public ramp about a week ago.Limited out early came back left my truck hooked to boat next to the bath room in the parking lot while went with a friend to have lunch. We returned in a in about a hour to find our 2002 Susuki 15 hp. missing off the back of my son's Striper. The unit was (padlocked) on. We are cofident it was not a fisherman but somebody that had to watch us drive off together. We called Montery County Sheriff and was told they could not respond unless it was a crime in progress. We decided to call the harbor master and at least let him know what had taken place. He was extremely helpful in getting the S.O. to a least take a report,(thanks JACOB) MODEL # DF15MSK2 SER.502256726 If anyone happens to cross paths with someone selling a Sus 15hp please call me.Whe have launched out or Woodward many times in the past years and never a problem. Thanks Bill 559-970-0191 |

Fished MB yesterday in the skiff. Absolutely gorgeous day on the water...shorts, t-shirts, and sandals (although I had none of those, but my fishing partner did . We got skunked on salmon, only 1 knock-down in 4 hours, so we finished the day rockfishing off Montana de Oro. Got two keeper lings, including a 32 incher, plus a cabezone and several blues and gophers. best fishes, steve |

Given the board has no means of editing posts, none that I can see anyway, it would appear that this thread would need to be archived and a new one started. Sounds like a great trip, Chip! Would have loved to have been there! |

Now reading Tree doc's post about Cubano's pictures, I see why the board is so wide. Sorry for speaking before reading. Cubano needs to learn how to downsize his attachments. Come to think about it,I don't even know how! Tim |

Hit Moss Landing again this morning for the pink guys and three of us were done by 7:15 with 6 fish from 12-18 lbs on straight bait, flasher bait and anchovie apex down a max of 45 feet. All fish were hot and clearing the water almost before they came out of the clip. Two fish hit at 15 feet before we could get the second rod down on that side. Bait was breaking the surface so you didn't have to look at the meter to see where to go. They are all over Monterey Bay right now. We fished 2.1 miles SW of Moss on 160-360 ft of water. We also got four shakers. Basically wide open with two doubles. We left Heritage Ranch at 2:30 a.m. and were done filleting fish at Heritage by 10:45 a.m.. Pretty easy trip. Go get em. |

Fished Morro yesterday for one 12lb salmon straight out in front of the rock in 200' 80 on the wire, green RSK. Water was so nice we ran up to the lighthouse for some quality reds and a just keeper ling would have had a lot more but had some barbless stinking circle hook problems. |

How do I get these pages to fit my screem without having to scroll across. Is it just my computer or has the format changed. I will be at Avila Beach on my mooring and fishing from July 1 - July 10 for whatever wants to bite. I have a 21' Radon called Paco and I moniter channel 68. Ready for lft, salmon, white sea bass, or delicious bottom fish fillets. |

Hey Guys, The San Quitin trip is a go! we have 6-8 open seats on the bus. I just got off the phone with Steve and he says the LFT are there. For those people that are a little slow or special, I'd like to make it clear that this is not a report for psl or Morro Bay, I'm hoping they'll be here soon. I'll post more info as I get it. Here's the link for info about the trip http://fishreports.net/san-quintin.htmlut the trip: |

Three boats that I know of were out looking for albacore today. Perfect weather, clean blue water on the outside but no fish! They covered the area from straight out to the 122:15 and down below the 1908. 59 degrees was tops for temp and not much bait or life. Bayside is reporting a few albacore off Pt. Pinos so if anyone is going from here tomorrow Cape San Martin buoy and up would be the direction to go. REALLY APPRECIATE THE EFFORT BY THE THREE BOATS THAT GAVE IT A HELLAVA TRY !! THANKS! |

Excellent point, Bob. We were planning on heading out tomorrow but I'm not sure if the Skipper was heded for MB or PSL, that just might seal the deal unless we get in real early before the minus tide. Thanks for tht heads-up! |

Fished salmon today out of MB for 2 small keepers and 1 shorty. We got a late start but had good luck early on just outside the harbor entrance in 145-165ft,with green crocs and green Apex down @80-100ft ft.There was no bait out front(its all in the bay), but lots of cruising salmon marks from 50-130ft.The Fiesta fished all the way up to point estero and south to the shell mount for the same 2 fish we had,so I plan to fish out front and shallow in the morning.....jeff |

Caught two salmon this morning on a watermelon Apex after spending the night on the boat. Fish were at 80' in 180' of water. My wife is upset about me squeezing in this last salmon run before we leave for Alaska tomorrow morning. They just don't understand. Get a locate on those tunas. I'll be back. John |

The visible satellite shows the area around the donut clear this afternoon so there is a good chance of an SST shot. If it isn't posted by the time anyone leaves to look for albacore I will be happy to describe it to you if your cell phone has signal. My # 929 1724 or cell 710 2315. Sometimes I can reach the donut on my base VHF. I will be monitoring it also. |

NWS forecast Friday through Sunday offshore: Pretty much variable winds 10-kts or less with afternoon gusts to 15-kts. Clean blue water, warmer sea temps, and perhaps little wind is calling just outside the Donut and inside the 1908. |

Deflating Swim Bladder Device for "NO RETENTION" rock fish. We've all heard of different methods but I stumbled on a device that will not harm the fish in any way. It was designed for Black Sea Bass but it should work for any species. With a little ingenuity you could make one yourself. Open the link and click on Black Sea Bass. http://www.loveofsea.com/ |

SST/Weather Just checked the UCAR and NOGAPS computer models for Fri/Sat. Friday looks ok and Saturday looks better. The high pressure is still holding out west of us and the isobars are stacked pretty close. Fri/Sat they are spread out over our area thus less wind but the potential is stil there for strong winds to happen quickly! With the swell coming from two directions it could get real jackass fast. On the latest SST there are no hard breaks in the donut area due to the wind. They will probably form back up when the wind stops but now we have a marine layer so may not have a good SST to see them. On last eve's SST there is a plume of warmer water forming from the donut to Pt. Buchon as close as 25 miles.. In past years the albacore have followed this path right into the area of the now gone PSL buoy. The plume is not warm enough yet but with no wind it could happen quick! |

Weather looks good guys for Friday-Sun. All I see is a strong south swell Sun-Mon which should bring the water in closer. This could be perfect timing for the first albie run. Good luck to those that run tommorow. I hope you slay em. Tim |

Friends: I'll be on the water early tomorrow morning looking for salmon again, but I hear that a group or flotilla is getting together for a tuna run on Friday morning ...... Hope it all pans out. Steve, we were fishing on Tuesday about 2 miles from the rock. Caught all 4 fish at about 80 feet while trolling in 180 feet of water. It was one of those days that you dream about ... quick action for a limit. Mel |

GREAT looking water on the donut right now! Blue and the temp break has broken up a little due to the NW winds .. but no doubt its holding. Wind will continue into Monday. The charter idea is on hold at the moment seeing that the water has now pushed into range for most of us private boaters. As soon as we see Variable 10kts or less we will be on the water looking. |

Fished right out front of the rock (Morro Bay) in 180 feet of water, down 80 ft. on the wire. Two caught on green crock and 2 on watermellon apex. My Fathers Day Got 2 spend 2 days on the boat with my wife and 2.5yo daughter Rebecca. It was Rebeccas first time on the ocean. We towed over to PSL Sunday after church and put the boat in the water about 3pm. Motored around for a bit...
Did a couple drifts for halibut. No buts but a couple small vermillion for dinner. It was blowing about 20 and a bit rough so we motored over to a moring ball and settled in for the night. This is about 10 minutes before we heard "I WANT TO GO FISHING!!!" music to my ears!!
After a quick breakfast we're off and running. Rebecca checks out the area and tells me where to go.
Go that way Daddy
She was right. Fish ON!
Little bolina
Did we have fun?
You should have seen my smile! |

http://coastwatch.noaa.gov/interface/interface.html This is the site where all the chlorophyll data comes from. It takes a little time to process it but not difficult. There were also LFT caught out of Eureka yesterday. Our closest water has moved in about five miles since Sunday and is now 44nm at 34:45 and 121:35. The wind is not as bad as forecast, yet ! As soon as this wind stops we should have a good shot at albacore ! |

Anyone besides My Three Sons salmon fish out or Morro? IS it worth going out on Wednesday? Virg's had that great fish count Sunday. Did they all disappear. Anyone know how they did today and where they went? |

Harrell, I bet they were referring to Darby's post below...about a report he's not biting on! I towed up to Morro today (Monday) and managed one 11 pounder (on the scale) and my buddy farmed one. Wild fish, adipose fin intact. Straight out from the Rock, 145 feet of water, 80 feet down, chartreuse RSK with a dine, no flasher. Kinda sloppy conditions. Dave My Three Sons |

Just checked the SST/Chlorophyll pictures where that LFT was caught and it is a perfect fit, clean blue 60 degree water. There was also a "report" on coastside that some albacore were caught out of Morro Bay. Anybody know anything about that report ? |

This was posted "today" on Coastside, Friend Blake on the Knotty Lady called me at 3:00PM coming back from the Weenie off Monterey, caught 1 Albacore 26 lbs. lost one on the meatline. Bait everywhere with the Albacore caught full of anchovies. Due to full moon fish fed at night and most went deep after. Later in the day fish went down at 450ft. and afternoon at 850 ft. After the full moon, it's Albacore time! |

SST/Chlorophyll Great shots this morning of yesterday's water. Clear blue 60+ degree water at the Donut, Elbow and 1908. But, looks like the wind will be back up for a few days and the swell in the 6-9 ft range for the rest of the week. The computer models indicate that there might be a weather window starting this weekend. |

Friends: Was a very nice day on the water today for FATHERS DAY! Actually was out with my wife and oldest daughter. Caught a boatload of rockfish ... and heard the salmon bite was hot. Later heard that Virg's boat had 14 anglers and were struggling to get their last fish to fill a 28 fish limit of salmon. I think I might jump on a boat tomorrow and go for those salmon. Mel. |

Somebody named John Williams called the landing this morning with the first albacore report of the season. 21 fish, 20 miles SE of the 1908, all on jigs. He left a number but when I tried to call it was no longer in service. We get several of these calls every year from people trying to get us to run a trip. Joe Smith, captain of the full of s**t calls in a wide open bite but no one ever actually sees the fish hit the beach. I don't believe anything anymore unless somebody I trust sees the fish. If anyone can confirm this report please let me know. |

A clipped adipose fin usually means that it has a coded wire tag in its nose, implanted there when it left the hatchery as a juvenile. Occasionally, F&G or PFMC will have someone at the landing to cut off the head so they can retrieve the tag and determine where the fish came from (batch tags are specific to each hatchery and run). If no one was there, then I wouldn't worry about it. I've never fished Moss, sounds good and entertaining best fishes, steve |

Two of us fished Moss Landing yesterday for limits of 10-15 pound fish all on bait/small hotspot combo. As is most always the case, find the bait, fish at that depth, catch the salmon. Literally 250 boats in the water made it very crowded. Lost our first fish at 7:00, trolled through the crowd to an open area, found a ball of bait at 100 feet. Caught four fish in 45 minutes with only one other boat very close. Just as we finished up, two party boats moved in with 70 fleet boats and drove the bait and fish down deep - 450 feet. Saturday was the second time this season I have caught a salmon with the adipose fin clipped. Do any of you guys know if there is someone who wants or needs this information? |

Fished infront of the Rock today in 190-200 feet for 2 fish. One was 23 and 1/2 inces the other weighed in at 20.5 lbs. 150 on the wire, croc and hoochie did the trick. Fished with the fleet for a couple hours up off estero for nothing then moved towards the rock to catch these two by 9:30 |

Fished out in front of the rock yesterday with Stuart on the Graylight. 4 or 5 knock downs with only one small fish at 22 inches to show for our efforts. Very quiet on the radio. Dustin |

I know that all of us are going to miss Jody. It was always a pleasure to go into the store - be greeted by his smile and be called by name. He was a great asset to the fishing community and mankind. |
