While most people were cooking Thanksgiving turkey, David Tompkins and I headed down to Point A La Hache to fish this morning. Winds were light on a sunny sky. Tide was low but moving and it didn’t take long to find the hungry specks. We caught our limit of very nice sized speckled trout on Speculizers. Most were caught First Bay and Big Oyster Bayou. Devastation at the marina was very heavy due to Katrina, with only the back-down ramp in use. Good fishin’, Jerry LaBella |

Point A LaHache Report: Thursday Captain Mickey Wagner headed out of Bashel’s Marina with me and Bret to fish Thorntree and First and Second Bays in Point A La Hache. Winds were a bit high under partly cloudy skies and high tide. Fish were immediately caught in murky water on the bottom in First Bay with cocahoe minnow lures in chartreuse and purple colored on the bottom with slow retrieve. The next best spot proved to be Thorntree with the same method. Plenty of speckled trout in various sizes from 1- 5 pounds. As the day warmed up, Second Bay yielded plenty of trout under a Cajun rattle cork with various type minnow lures and DOA shrimp lures. Water was murky in the bay due to high winds but the fish were hungry for those that knew this. SEE PICS: http://www.jerrylabella.com/captains_log1.htm Good fishin’, Jerry LaBella Dec. 17, ‘04
