MONTAUK,NY REPORT 9/21/09 We had the Kirk conway charter out for a day of inshore fishing. We strarted out trolling in front of the light. picking up some blues and stripers. We then moved a few miles North and drifted ells. The blues were wreaking havoc on the Eels. we did manage some nice stripers in the mix but went thru so many eels we had to set up on a peice and pick up some porgys for the Ebb. We picked enough baits and ran back to the rip. we drifted the porgys of legal size and still ran into the Blues. we picked up some nice stripers to 26 lbs. They kept 1 fish each for the table and decided to release the rest. They had a blast catching thier biggest fish ever. P.S. we have openings this month if you want to get in on the hot action. This one was a nice fat 34" bass. i was done in one drift! it took me longer to make bait then to fish today! lol. P.S. we have openings this week if anyone wants to join us. Tight lines! OFFSHORE REPORT 8/2/09 Today we took out the jim cassidy Charter out for a day of sharking. we ran to the 25 fathom Fingers south of moriches. We found life and good water with birds and dolphins in the area. we tried trolling for bluefins but nothing. we set up our Shark slick and within 20 minutes we had a 100 lb. dusky Shark on. jeff made quick work of the shark and we took some pics and tagged and released it. A few hours later We hook up again this time its another dusky shark aprox 125 lbs. We tag and release it. Then a few hours later we get a nice fish on thats peeling line off a penn 70 it was staying deep. i hoped it was a thresher. Not! It was a nice hefty 200 lb. dusky. 3 duskys caught in the area. I decided to run further inshore on our last can of chum. we only fished 30 minutes until the Coast guard warned us of an impending thunderstom headed our way so we made a hasty retreat back into moriches. at least they had action. MORICHES,NY 7/26/09 report We canceled todays Shark trip due to Noaa forecast of 7' seas. so we switched to targeting Stripers with john, adam, Bryan and his son bryan jr. We loaded up the well with live baits. when we get to the inlet, the inlet was calm but the USCG issued thunderstorm warnings with winds to 35 kts. we did have a passing shower with some lightning but nothing bad. we had no action drifting our baits at the bottom of the ebb. i knew the fish would turn on on the flood. bryan was first to hook up.with a nice keeper bass. then we lost some blues due to bite offs. we landed a few. some more bass came up. bryan was hi-hook and pool today. everyone went home with fillets for dinner. p.s. we will be making up the open shark trip next saturday if anyone is interested in joining us. tight lines! OFFSHORE REPORT FOR 7/19/09 Today we took out the adam Levi charter. We headed to the 30 fathom fingers. we saw plenty of life with birds working bait and dolphins in the area. we had a 68=72 degree temp break so we trolled for a few miles hoping for some Bluefin action. None to be found. so we set up shark slick and as I'm putting out the 2nd middle rod Adam spots a 7' Mako behind my transom. i quickly try to hand feed it a fillet bait on the middle rod i was just setting out. It was just wiindow shopping. It didnt touch any of our baits and disappeared. then 30 mins later the deep bait gets nailed and i let it run a few seconds then lock er up and set the hook then it gone! this happend several times this morning. we checked the baits and they were just eating them and missing the hooks. like they've been through this before and new where to get a free meal! lol. We then had a nice hook up and I give adam the rod and fights a 150 lb. class brown Shark that we tagged and Released. Then 5 mins later after rebaiting the rods the middle rod gets nailed I set the hook and give the rod to eric Seitz and he battles a nice 5'6" Mako to the Boat. They wanted to keep it but i told them theres lots of shark activity here and its early(11am) so lets let this one go and try for a bigger one. We caught 2 more makos but smaller than the first. OH WELL . at least they had action. P.S. We have 5 openings next weekend if anyone wants to get in on the action. Tight Lines! HUDSON CANYON REPORT 8/21/08 I Did another away trip on Kevin Bashams 48' Viking the Barbra ANN. yesterday. We headed to the hudson in flat calm seas. We set out 10 rods and found a nice temp break from 76-79 degrees. Plenty of life with dolphins and pilot whales all around us. within an hour we had a 3 banger on. all three yellowfins came tight and Mike,Kevin and kevin successfully brought in the 3 smallish 40 pound yellows. Then as we start putting out the lines again another ballyhoo gets nailed this time it was a 50lb. class yellow successfully landed by Kevin. We marked the spots and zigzaged all around the area but no more action. We trolled all over the hudson canyon with plenty of life in the water but slow action! all the other boats were complaining of no action at all! Slow day but great weather! The 2 never seem to mix together! (great weather and good fishing). Hopefully the action will pick up soon! P.S. We have openings this month and next for inshore and offshore trips! Tight lines! MORICHES,LONG ISLAND,NY SHARK CHARTER JULY 19,2008 Today we had the Kevin Basham party out. We headed out of Moriches for a Shark trip to the 25 fathom fingers s/w of Moriches. we had a tight 4-5' chop going out so it slowed us down a bit. we finally arrived at my spot and set out the chum. no action at all for 3 hours. then I see a fin pop up at the far float. The Shark swims up the chum line and takes the 30' bait. The rod bends in half. i try to set the hook. the fish is off. I check the bait it's intact. i send it right back out and it gets nailed again. i give it 5 seconds and set the hook. The battle was on. Kevin had a blast bringing in a feisty 125 lb. mako. action was slow so he decided to take the fish for the BBQ. water temp 67 clear water. P.S. We have openings for inshore and offshore fishing if you're intereszted in joining us. Tight lines! Capt.dennis FAIR CHASE II WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM 631-786-7871 |

MORICHES NY SHARK CHARTER 7/6/08 We had the Ralph Milone party out today on thier first shark trip . We ran to the 25 fathom fingers south of moriches in flat calm seas. we just had fog to contend with but was no sweat with radar. We set up our slick and the guys had a blast tagging and releasing a feisty 100 lb. Mako. then we were inundated with Blue Sharks from 100-200 lbs. We tagged and released 13 of them! They were so thick that they came up to the chum bag and were trying to swim away with it! we had to nudge them with our brush handle to get them to let the bag go! We also tagged a 100 lb. Brown shark. we had 2 mystery fish on that sounded and ripped line off penn 50 's like nothing. The hooks popped out. possible threshers. It was an action packed day. went thru 16 rigs! p.s. we have openings this month and next if you're interested in getting in on the hot action! Tight Lines! Montauk 11/04/07 We had Eric,Mike,Rob,Bill,Mark and darrel out for a 1/2 day trip out of Montauk. We canceled Saturdays trip due to the unfishable conditions. We set out on Sunday morning in much more manageable seas with seas 3-4' with a N/w pushing 15-20 kts dropping down to 10-15 in the afternoon. We drifted eels on the local rips in front of lighthouse. Eric was the first one on as soon as he dropped down to the bottom. A nice teen size keeper. Then bill was on with a nice 20 lb. fish. Then bill dropped a cow when it got cut off by one of the engines! bummer. Then there was nothing but blues the rest of the trip. They wreaked havock on our 4 dozen eels! Milke landed a monster pushing 20 lbs! all in all they had a blast! We fished the end of the ebb into the start of the flood. Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE II WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM |

Today we had the Ray Balbuena Charter out. We did a shark drift S/w of Moriches. We had 6 Sharks swim into our slick. Ray Fought a nice 160 lb. Mako beautifully for over an hour. The shark made a nice 8' leap which was captured on Video. We used the Mahi racks we caught yesterday at the tails for Bait.an even bigger Mako was following the 160 lber! Luckily it didnt try to bite the mahi that was riding up the leader or we would of lost the fish! They had a blast catching and releasing several 6-7' Blue sharks on Bluefish rods! which were then tagged and released. Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE II WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM |

Sat we had the eric seitz Charter out for a Shark trip. we ran to the 25 Fathom Fingers and found Clear green water 72 degrees. We had Bluefish in the slick all day long. later that morning a mako attacks my middle float and gets tangled in my 80 lb. mono. It thrasehes it's tail and cuts the line! We also had a big Shark break water 20' behind the boat. no other takers. Today we had the Peter anami charter out and again we hit the 25 fathom fingers a few miles east of yesterdays spot. we founf clear warm 73 degree water. We were invaded by blues right away but we had no wind for a slow drift. at 10 am the middle bait set at the thermocline at 60' gets nailed. i set the hook and gave the rod to peter. he was in for the battle of his life! after a spirited 30 minute battle Complete with 3 areial displays we sunk the gaffs into a beefy 165 lb. threshewr. poetes first. Some nice steaks for the BBQ! Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE II WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM |

We had Dave lewis and his crew from 5 star pools charter the boat for the Bayshore shark tournament yesterday. We ran to the rock piles area and found gin clear 69-73 degree water. We set up our slick and had action with blue sharks with no qualifying Makos or Threashers showing up. They had a blast tagging and releasing the Bluedogs. We then made a last ditch effort to run inshore to the yankee wreck area and had nonstop Bluefish action in the 71 degree water. A 505 Threasher was the winner of the Big fish award. congrats to that crew! P.S. We have openings this week and next for inshore and offshore trips if anyone is interested in joining us. we are also available for the upcomming Molnars land Shark tournament in shinnecock which we took first place in last year. The guys had a blast catching and releasing 8 Blue Sharks. we lost a potential Tournament winner which was over the 8' Minimum at boat side! Bummer! we also had alot of action with bluefish which we used as live bait for the sharks. The winning Shark was just over 8'. so we would have taken 1st place with the shark we lost! Wew will be fishing next weeks Great Gun Tournament in moriches again with the bill elliot charter. we are open on june 30th for the Bayshore Shark tournament if anyone is interersted in booking that one. We had a charter cancel yesterday for fear of the impending storm in the afternoon so me and my mate mike went on an exploratory trip out of pt. Jeff. We found the porgies in a cooperative mood feeding heavily in 15' of h20 along the beach. we had nonstop action with plenty of double headers for an hour or so. the fish were all nice size to 15". we kept 10 for the table and released the rest. Next we cast top water plugs among the boulders and had blues to 10 lbs. crash the poppers. all were released until next week when we'll need some fresh baits for the Moriches shark tournament. We then tried fluking the shoal. we had action with mostly shorts on bucktails to 19". we did manage 2 nice keepers at 22" and 24".The fish are there you just need the wind to lay down to give us a good drift. P.S. we have openings this comming week if anyone is interested in joining us and we have oipenings for the Moriches Great gun Shark Tournament on june 23rd. Tight lines! MORICHES MAKO 10/08/06 We took out Albert Lee on our Last Shark charter for the 06 season. We headed S/e to the 25 fathom Fingers. we set our baits and did a little skeet shooting to warm up for the upcomming waterfowl season. at 11am the close bait gets hammered. I set the hook and give the Rod to Albert. He had a blast fighting the feisty Mako which gave a good account of itself on the Penn 30. No jumps but it did make some blistering runs. after a short fight we brought it boatside and Albert decided he wanted the Mako being it was his first! The fish was only in the 100 lb. range but he decided better to start off small than land a 500 lber. then you would have nothing to look forward to! P.S. We have openings for a Montauk Sea Duck/Striper Cast and Blast trip Oct 28/29 Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM |

GOODYEAR LAKE OTSEGO COUNTY NEW YORK We just got back from Turkey hunting and fishing in Goodyear lake in central NY. The Turkeys cooperated nicely and so did the fish! We caught hundreds of fish during the 2 week period. multiple species ie; Panfish such as sunny's,crappie and perch which made for some fine dinners!. We also had good action with walleyes. there are plenty of smallmouth and largemouth bass around which bodes well for the june opener. all the fish were feeding heavily on crayfish so the lure of choice were brown papals in 2" size slowly retreived along the points. OPENING DAY OF FLOUNDER APRIL 1 2006 MORICHES,NY We took out Smitty on the Flounder opener. It was a cloudy start to the day. I didnt even put out the chum pot yet! I thought this was going to be the spot. not! It was the only fish of the drop! So i moved to the south side of the br. and here I nailed a nice 13"er and dropped a nice double header at the boat when I neglegted to call for the net! Bummer! MORICHES OFFSHORE 8/20/05 We took out Dave Lewis and 4 of his employees for a Shark trip out of Moriches. We ran S/E to the 20 fathom fingers off Shinecock and set up our slick in clear 71 degree water. at 10 am the 60' bait gets nailed! We strap in Dave and we see a 10' Tresher 10' below the boat! It weighs aprox 500 lbs.!! It sounds in 120' and the battle ensues for 4 hours with each guy having a turn on this beast! I kept the boat going in circles to avoid a cutoff! after 4 agonizing hours of tug of war with this monster we decided to tighten the drag and try to horse em up or pop him. the guys were just spent! we were gaining line when the line pops! Bummer! It figures the fish hits my Penn 30 instaed of the 50. A small mako and 6' Blue Shark did a drive by to see what all the commotion was about. Tight Lines! Yuri hooks him up and has a blast battling this feisty fish. after a spirited battle and some pics we tagg and release yuri's first Mako to grow up. The only other shark that came in was a 15' Basking Shark. Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE http://www.huntfishny.com |

MORICHES OFFSHORE 8/13/05 WE took Out Dave Von Doehren and Frank Stefanuk for a Tuna/Shark combo trip. We trolled out to the 25 fathom Fingers. NO Bluefins! only 1 Bluefish of 10 lbs. We started out Shark drift in 73 degree water. No action on the 1st can of chum. the 2nd. can a 150 lb. class Hammer head came in to see what was cookin. He circled the boat for over 30 minutes not touching any of our offerings of fresh bluefish and Bunker. He finally leaves and the 2nd can is almost out when the deep bait gets hit. I set the hook and strap Frank in to do battle. He's hooked to a 200 lb. class Mako! He makes 2 spectacular leaps captured on video! As Frank is bringing the fish to the Boat I see that it is tail wrapped! The Fish makes 1 last ditch run just out of gaff range and cuts the line! Bummer! At least Frank got to see and Fight his first Mako! Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE WWW.HUNTFISHNY.COM |

PT. JEFF 8/07/05 We took out the Leo Serkowski party out for a day of fishing in pt. Jeff. We ran around to smithtown bay and found pods of peanut bunker being attacked by 2-5 lb. blues. they had a blast catching all they wanted on light tackle jigs and trolling umbrellas. They kept a few for the BBQ and released the rest. We tried Fluking in front of the river and Golf Course. we had no drift so we only managed a few shorts which were released. They did chunk a nice 26lb. bass in the middle grounds also missing a few more runoff's and landing some schoolies that were released. p.s. we have some openings left for next saturday for an open boat SHARK/TUNA trip out of Moriches if anyone is interested in joining us. MORICHES 7/14/05 We took out Frank,Ron,ED and mike for a full day trip out of Moriches yesterday. We had thick pea soup fog to contend with throughout the day making fishing difficult. We cast fly's and light tackle jigs in the bay for some cocktail blues while working our way out to the inlet. We then drited clams through the inlet and had more blues on clams. We jigged bucktails on the slack tide and frank landed a nice 20" keeper and lost a few more. once the flood started we anchored up and clam chummed and landed 4 out of Stripers all schoolies from 22-26" we dropped a keeper Bass. We then headed out to the reef in flat calm water and drifted for 1 short sea bass then anchored up on a wreck. frank caught a keeper sea bass and lost a few more. A few skates were caught. No dogfish. water temp was up to 65. they must have moved off to deeper cooler waters. Radio chatter had bluefin tuna in 80' of water yesterday. Tight Lines! We did another North Shore trip on beautiful sunday april 10th. Temp was 70 degrees finally! water temp 44. We had a blast with schoolie stripers at the outflow and crab meadow using light tackle and jigs. the fish were from 1-10 lbs. all released unharmed! We then targeted Flounder in back of Huntington Harbor and had fish up to 2 lbs. You have to use plenty of chum and use a slow lifting motion of the rod to entice strikes! You also have to move around to find new fish Tight Lines! Capt.Dennis FAIR CHASE http://www.huntfishny.com |

FISHING REPORT MAY 18, 2004 CAPT. KEN RAFFERTY www.FlyFishingSaltWater.com www.FishingEastHampton.com captkenraf@hotmail.com Sat May 15th .......full-day Dan Miller and his friend Jack Patteson were on board for some Light Spin Tackle and Fly-fishing. We had a late start, 10:00 am as we headed over to Jessup’s Neck were both Dan and Jack were hooked up and landing lots of Bluefish in the 4 to 6 lb. class. We then decided to head over to Robin’s Island in search of Stripers. On our first drift along the sand bar, Dan who was on the bow sighted a school of fish moving along the shoreline in only 1 to 2 feet of water. Dan cast and hooked up with a 15 inch Shad and after releasing it we were still drifting as Dan spotted a large Striper also right along the shoreline. It was most likely following those Shad and feasting on them. Dan cast a “Sluggo” and the Striper came right up behind it, took a good look and turned away. I instructed Jack who was at the stern of the boat to cast his surface popper up in front of this fish and as soon as it landed in the water this fish was on it ....SLAM! This Striper peeled off line as it tried for deeper water but all it could find was 2 to 3 foot deep flats. We followed as Jack worked the fish slowly and finally it was along side the boat. I reached down and grabbed it’s bottom lip with my Bogga grip and my hand as I lifted a whopping 27.5 lb. Striper that measured in at 41 inches long......not too bad for 8 lb. test line. After releasing this fish we were back to drifting and had quite a few follows and chasers by more large Stripers but no more hook-ups with them. We might have done better if Jack were on the bow with the Fly rod but the wind was gusting to 20 mph making that almost impossible. On the way back in we stopped at Jessup’s Neck again were jack landed another Striped Bass....this one was only 21 inches long. Both Dan and Jack landed more Bluefish at Jessup’s and then we were headed home. Sun May 16th.... Sean Patrick, Fly-fishing On Saturday night I received a call from Sean Patrick, one of my regular clients, he wanted to know how the fishing was. I told him about Saturdays outing with Dan and Jack...... Sean booked Sunday. We headed over to Jessup’s Neck at 8:00 am in light fog/haze where we had the top of the high tide. I drifted along the sand bar as Sean cast a nice olive/white deceiver and after a few cast was hooked up with a nice 29 inch Striper followed by another that measured in at 33 inches. On the next set of drifts Sean had six more Stripers that ranged in from 22 to 26 inches........then the Bluefish hit. We lost the deceiver to that first Bluefish and had to put on wire tippet as Sean kept landing Blue after Blue. The fog lifted enough to head over to Robin’s Island and off we went. It took three drifts before Sean finally hooked up with one of those nice Stripers that were roaming the flats the previous day. After a 10 minute fight it was on the boat......21 lbs. About a half-hour later the next Striper was 18 lbs. followed by a few 10 to 12 lbs. Sean also managed to hook-up and land three Weakfish in the 7 to 8 lb. class but I won’t reveal where we caught them but we had to fish “deep”. Capt. Ken Rafferty captkenraf@hotmail.com

The fishing has been great. We have Striped Bass and Bluefish all over the bay. The Stripers are any where from 22 inches up to 36 inches. The Bluefish are in the 6 lb. class but we have also caught many that were over 10 lbs. We are catching many of the Stripers and Blues in the Flats "2 ft of water or less" with both Fly and Light tackle. We have made a few trips back into the Peconics where we had Weakfish up to 9 lbs. With summer really coming on it only gets better.

Subject: Fishing Report October 16th
Thursday Oct 12th and Friday Oct 13th We had a group of guys from the New York Athletic Club who would be fishing with us for two days using a total of four boats with 2 anglers per boat. My charter for these two days were John LaSalle and John Walsh. We fished Montauk where the fishing has been great for Striped Bass, False Albacore and Bluefish. Both John LaSalle and John Walsh are just starting to fly fish so they didn't do as well as the other boats did. Thursday Walsh landed 5 Stripers and LaSalle had 1 large fish on but lost it. Day two Walsh had a 25 pounder on, it took off a lot of backing but finally went into the rocks and broke off. Too bad neither angler wanted to use light tackle, if they did they would have both had many GRAND SLAMS over and over that day. Saturday Oct 14th (Morning) My charter this morning was Carlos Ferrer and his sons Charlie and Willie. We fished Gardiner's Island where we hit into a school of Stripers and Bluefish first thing in the Morning then headed further east and played with some Albies. Total for the morning was 4 Stripers, 1 Bluefish and 3 Albies. Saturday Oct 14th (afternoon) My charter this afternoon was Jack Rutherford and his son Matthew 13 years old who would be fishing saltwater for the first time. It was a little slow compared to the morning but Matthew did manage to hook-up and land 3 stripers all about 22 inches before heading back in. Saturday Oct 14th (night) My charter this evening was Phil and Tony, we would be drifting bucktails off Orient Pt. starting at mid-night and fish until first light. We started at the Plum Gut light house where they landed 5 stripers, the largest being 37 inches before moving over to Plum Island and landing 3 more the largest being 35 inches. It was just too crowded there so I headed the boat around to the Sluiceway, thats on the other side of Plum Island between Plum and Great Gull. At the Sluiceway Phil and Tony landed 9 more Stripers the largest also being 37 inches. It slowed up a little there so I then headed over to the RACE, thats between Little Gull and Fishers Island.....BIG WATER!! On the first drift at the Race Tony hooked up with a big fish, we couldn't weigh it but it measured 49 inches long. By 6:30 in the morning Phil and Tony landed 20 more Stripers more at the Race, making a total of 35 Stripers for the evening. I was asleep by 7:30 am and awoke by 12:00 noon and headed back out with Andre DeHavnon to fly fish Gardiners Bay. We hit into Albies just east of Bostwick Pt where Andre landed 4 on the fly before heading over to the Ruins where he picked up 1 nice Striper 34 inches in the rocks. I think these fish will be around for a while, I know the Stripers will I have fished and caught them ultil December in past years.
