SloTroller was out Friday. On the water at 6:00, worked the area around the radar buoy, had 4 guys fishing so we were spread through the water column from 150 to 60 on the wire. We trolled RSKs, rainbow crocks, apexs and hoochies. We tried green and red flashers on the hoochie. By 10:30 we had zero knock downs! Pulled the gear and switched targets for a bucket full of taco meat. Great day on the water, but the pink meat illudes us like we were monks! |

Fished Salmon out of Morro yesterday. Caught four (4) sport legal in 30 fathoms around where the old radar bouy was. Had to release them since they were to short for me to keep. No bites at 40 - 50 fathoms. Fish came on purple haze behind a red flasher, kroc with blue tape, and mackeral pattern #5 canadian wonder. I also hooked and released several mackeral. |

For FISHTALE II it might not be as close as you would like, Weiperts RV storage in SLO is just off the highway at los osos drive offramp. security card access. We live in tulare and store ours there during fishing season. |

Fished PSL in the skiff today. Caught 4 dink halibut off port beach first thing in the morning, and then didn't touch another halibut all day. Managed 2 26" lings and a few rockfish throughout the day...wonder where those big buts are? Fishing Purisma tomorrow in the big boat. We will call out on 68 to see who else is down there. best fishes, steve |

We trolled for three hours out of PSL in the afternoon to evening today for salmon. There was some bait metered some fish deep but no takers. We fished 130 out to 180 feet and down. Looks like rock fishing tommorrow. Good Luck, Sheryl |

That cholorophyl shot on the 21st shows the closer water as green but it is a lot cleaner than it was a couple of weeks ago. There should be some boats out of the Monterey area looking this weekend that should give us an indication of what's holding at the Davidson. John Lindsey (PG&E) says we should have at least a week of light winds. I spent an hour trolling for halibut from Oceano to the coke plant today in 75 ft of water for nada nada ! |

I fished the Sea Adventure80 on a 1.5 day Wednesday. The LFT averaged 20 to 25 and the BFT were up to 40.It was not wide open but ringed hooks and flouro helped.I ended up with 4LFT up to 25 and 1 bft 40 |

fisherer, Are you talking LFT's? If so, apparently they were in the wrong spot! Many of the Sportys out of H&M, Point Loma, etc are on to fish. It's by no means "wide open" yet down there but the counts are coming in on most trips including some on one-day boats. There are some Rat Yellowtails still being taken on the inside in the size you speak of but I have seen confirmed Private Boat reports with numbers and pictures of LFT's going on the inside up to and including 45 pounds! Most LFT's have been in the 20# and BFT the 30# range. The BFT's have been coming in higher numbers than the LFT but it's still building. An inside commercial report has the Bluefin coming 30 miles out of Ensenada, leave the harbor...turn left. The Seiners are out in force but this second wave moving north are too skinny for the seiners but certainly not for the PB's and Sportys. We'll be fishing a new moon on Monday so with a little luck and fresh line on all my Avets, I'll have some good pictures to share come Tuesday night! |

For those of you that don't have Terrafin, the last image was June 1 and it showed the 60 degree water and clear water break at about 90 mi.west. Inside the water was very dirty. A lot can change in a week however. Bob |

Mel, I am scheduled and paid for my second trip of the season for Tuna out of San Diego. We won't be in to port till about 6 p.m. on the 1st so that eliminates my ability to make that very important run up north. However, I do have many friends and aquaintences that are fisherman that don't frequent this or many other sites and I am more than willing to help spread the word and gain support for the cause. |

Nobody has responded about my suggested bus trip to Sacramento for the big August 2nd meeting before the Fish & Game Commission on the proposals for MLPA on the Central Coast. Is there any interest??????????????? Mel |

sissy, We are leaving out of Channel Islands at 0900 Saturday - returning Sunday. We'll be diving and fishing. There'll be 3-5 boats in the group. More then likely anchor up at Smugglers. As Ray said- each boat is on their own to come and go as they like. Everyone is responsible for their own seamanship and safety, but nice to know there are others in the area. Do you have vessel assist? |

Tim/treedoc, hope to make several trips back this summer. Also gotta check out those caves. Didnt even know they were there till last trip out. Hoping other good-natured, friendly fun-loving folks wishing to have a good time and relax can make it out there also, it is absolutely incredible place. Always better when there are good people around you can count on if things do go wrong. Anonymous, thanks for actually reading the post for what it was and nothing more. Sounds like you knew me in a previous life. No longer drink seasick pills been sober about 5 years. I also cant understand the reaction of Sissy/John, but I am not taking the bait on a flame war. I have much, much better things to do with my time, and literally couldnt care less. Gorggitta (sp?) thanks for helpful info, appreciated. When i made a trip to Anacapa years ago there were lots of helpful folks out there and got assistance immediately upon request then, good to hear it hasnt changed. Looking to post a good fish report after return, but thats not the primary mission. Relax & enjoy is. It's just such an incredible place. Cloud out. |

Friends: I want to start talking about a possible bus-load of local fishermen making a trip to Sacramento on August 2nd. The FISH & GAME COMMISSION will be hearing testimony from the public all day on August 2nd about the MLPA proposals for the Central Coast. If it sounds like enough of you are interested, I will contact a local bus company (Like SILVERADO) and find out about the costs and check out some motels in Sacramento. I would anticipate that we would travel up there on August 1st, stay overnight somewhere in Sac, and then all appear at the hearings on August 2nd. We might want to travel back to SLO that same night ... or stay over and come back on August 3. This is a very crucial hearing that will affect our fishing rights for many years to come. I would be happy to make sure everyone is fully briefed on our ride north to Sac ... so that we all speak with a unified voice at the hearings in front of the Commission. GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS. You have my e-mail below ...let me hear from you ... or respond right here.... Mel |

Cloud, If you make that trip to Rosa again anytime this summer, post up, I'd love to make that run as a buddy boat. Way back when I lived down south my folks and I used to hang out around the islands for a week or two at a time on the big boat. Been a long time and I'd love to get back there, just can't do it this weekend...the Tuna are calling and I'm booked on a 2 day starting Sunday. Have a safe trip! |

Cloud, I don't need anyone to babysit me. I've been launching through the surf for longer than you are old. I now have a larger boat. I managed to own, maintain and navigate my own aircraft for 16 years. I mearly was asking if I could tag along. I have just never been to the islands. Please ignore my previous post. Ray Ive been to santa rosa recently and the squid were all around the island in 100- 120 ft of water. Look for seagulls hovering then quickly snatching the squid off the surface, or the seals just eating them like candy. If you get on 68 and ask alot of guys will tell you whats up with the squid. Be sure to fish the east point area for halibut( know the MLPA zones ) and around the corner in the eagles nest ( south side ) There have been some big yellowtail caught so don't assume that runaway fish is a batray until you see it!!! Also be sure to read up on how to release black seabass (allcoastsportfishing.com) because chances are you will get one. Good luck |

Re: Islands this weekend Sean--thanks, am versed on the basics (closures etc), and appreciate the hali report. I like your disclaimer and got me thinking about whats next.... Sissy--Unfortuntaly, and although I am sure un-intended, your post implies or could be construed that I am sponsoring a trip, which is not the case. My disclaimer: I accept absolutely no responsibility or liability for the actions of others whatsoever, period (a sad commentary on our litigious society). With that being said, my first overnighter there was last trip, in February. Great fun. "Buddy boaters" are welcome, we can stay in touch via radio, and possibly help if needed, per the unwritten sportboaters code of honor. But--everyone is 100% responsible for themselves, their own decisions, seamanship and seaworthiness. Big Will--I know your boat; will try to give a call later today. My intention is launch from Santa Barbara. Santa Rosa/Bechers Bay is the 1st planned target, but, may end up at east end of cruz 1st (depends on conditions). If that 3' South swell is still on may have to scout for a comfortable anchorage. Cloud out |

Sorry Joe, I was just commenting on what you posted about the old school fishermen; "Talking with the old school fisherman, the King's run below the Silvers. The Silvers, will be in the upper water 40' feet and up." Didn't want anyone to asssume that fish caught deeper were always Kings. The weather for the next few days is looking pretty good and there might even be a chance to prospect for Albacore especially out of the Monterey area where the good water is closer. |
